    What do you mean by entitlements and what do you mean by monetization debt and commercial debt

      Ulrik Lehrskov-Schmidt coined the term commercial debt. Simple way to think about it is that as a product evolves from single product to multi-product, hybrid billing, and multiple sales motions, supporting the evolution of packaging and pricing becomes really complex and resource intensive for product & engineering teams. a lot of this is rooted in companies hard-coding pricing logic in application code early on.

      Entitlements translate the commercial agreement that is in place with a customer. It represents the relationships between what a customer was sold and what they actually get access to in a software product. A classic example of this is to have a Free and Pro tier where Free gets 1 seat and Pro gets 5. The customer buys the Plan (Pro tier) and is entitled access to 5 seats.
