I AM UNSUBSCRIBING!!! Just kidding, this is the first video of yours that I have seen and you just earned another subscriber. Great video! One aspect of bolt action rifles not often talked about is that they don't spit brass and are much easier to clean up after. I think this may be one reason snipers still use bolt actions- easier to cover their tracks. Also, the bolt action can be cycled later after shooting with a suppressor, and can be slowly ran to be quieter- reciprocating bolts are louder when fired with a suppressor, even with subsonics. There was a short barrel bolt action rifle with a suppressor chambered in .45 ACP made (if i remember rightly by the British) in WW2 for special operations that had a bolt action for that exact reason.
I really like the concept of updating the scout rifle, but this is just not quite there. Ditch the bipod for a ching sling, get some back up irons (there's a company that makes a kit for the Ruger American), and use .300 BLK or 7.62x39 and it'd be way more practical. As far as the weight is concerned, I don't think it's -as- big of a deal, but it should still be something to think about. I also think if we're making a "do everything" rifle, maybe a flashlight isn't a bad idea either.
Could absolutely be updated more than I did in this video
New Subscriber. Great video. Brake one more rule and make it an AR.
If you have nearly $2k to waste on a subpar, at best, gun, then go ahead. I did. I'll keep it because I can but it will mostly collect dust and only be shot occasionally with friends who never fired one before. It is clunky, unwieldy, awkward and heavy.
I agree that it’s subpar to non-bullpup rifles. But if you WANT something that’s not an AR15 derivative, then I would say this is the best you can get. Not everything needs to be the best at it all or needs to have a reason other than want.
@ Agree. And if you can afford it, it's nice to have for shits and giggles and to let others experience. I'll keep mine. It looks cool on my gun wall. And it is a 16.5" brl. in a 10.5" AR pkg. But the unwieldy/awkward is just too much. I just don't want peep's getting sucked into buying it that need a gpr. Get a somewhat tricked/tuned AR.
Their is no better reason in the world to get something than because YOU want it not because of others opinion…big respect to you brother. Awesome build man💪👍
What version of the bald eagle did you end up getting? I have a 1301 as well and want the same suppressor 😁
Where did you get the rear optic (diopter sight)? Great vid!
Came with the rifle!
Can you post your parts list/build list? I’m looking to build my first AR-15 and I’m going to go BCM x Aero as well. Build list would be super helpful.
Tbh, I would not recommend going Aero with their prices now. For the lower - if you don’t want anything special, just get a PSA lower. For everything else BCM 14.5” ELW w/ MCMR-13 Magpul dust cover EOTECH XPS3-2 Unity FAST absolute riser Geissele Super 42 Braided wire buffer spring & H2 Buffer Magpul SL-S stock Radian Raptor-SD Magpul BAD Lever Radian Talon ESD Granite Grip ESD Sling I think that’s most of the build. The other stuff will depend on what you want to do personally
Why Aero over literally anything else, including PSA and putting the savings into a better trigger? Lowers don't really matter/vary much in quality. The only major thing I can think of it tolerance fitment between the lower and upper.
After seeing the Aero price hikes, I would now say that PSA would be good to go for a lower.
@@Instananners Yeah, I had a look at theirs and $350-400 for a basic mil-spec trigger and no ambi controls for what reason? You can get a super basic complete lower with decent furniture (magpul) from PSA for $160 or their Sabre Forged with a Geissele SSA-E for $350. I don't understand why Aero is so recommended (particularly lowers) especially at their prices now.
Quality build there!
$500 .. keep it LOL
Is the rmr directly mounted to the slide ?
I’m from California, we don’t have OD green, or coyote brown, we have bum piss yellow and LGBQT rainbow for camouflage options.
I’m from California- we don’t have hockey tape here. Our children don’t play hockey in California. In California children play with $ex change operation.
This is such a cool idea for people in places like Aus (me sadly) where semi auto is just a flat out NO
I've heard that you can buy brand new Remington 7615's, though. I envy you that. In a good way, of course. I want one. But I can't find one. I am North European, btw.
anybody got something like this set up as a semi auto
I do. You can see it on my how to paint/scrim your rifle video.
gonna need a semi version of this
Bonus about the ruger american rifles( gen1 standard/predator/ranch) is they're all for the most part very accurate. MDT also makes the Field Stock in the footprint(also now in LH). Was thinking of getting a predator or the ranch in 223rem as a trainer for the kid and myself.
Definitely accurate, and would work great for a trainer! Easy recoil, light-ish, cheap.
Just built a reddit special! Actually chose the aero lower over other offerings becaus of that dang upper/lower torsion screw. Sold a daniel defense to build it out because i was very unimpressed by the accuracy and build quality. Spent the extra saving on a bunch of ammo to train
White boi all ghillied up
This ain't a "knock off".
Heck Yeah
The romeo4t series technically has 3 different mounts. The super low absolute one, a 1.54 mount then a spacer plate to turn the 1.54 into a 1.7
What mount is that for the acro?.. looks clean
Stumbled upon this video. Great content. I have a similar setup in 350 legend and a YHMr9 on the front. Subs sighted in at 100 yards. Light, quiet, and ammo on common hunting supply shelves. Even during ammo shortage few years back never had issue buying basic 350 legend ammo. Taken many small game down over the years and low recoil for new comers to try out if needed.
Almost started a drinking game. Take a shot every time there is a failure to extract. Great video but mate.
This has been fixed
"The Lord's work... For Uncle Sam"? Israel needs more money!
The Larue upper is worth every penny. It was better at$700, but it's supply and demand
I think with the battery life numbers today they need to get rid of the shake awake turn off stuff. Like you said 2.5 years to 5 years of constant on. I'm thinking less problems with those features removed. I'm sure the world would disagree, except the smart people..
I actually agree. 2-5 years is insane battery life, most actual shooters change out their batteries before they even get close to the expiration.
MRO went on a diet.
Awesome intro music brother!
looks trash, you can see the circuit board/emitter reflection in some of the photos. Also why is the left side of the optic so big that blocks your view they should have put it on the right side. Why would anyone buy this instead of a aimpoint or sig which are more proven and have stellar nv performance. I think this may have worked better if they worked out those kinks and priced it around the sig, but no one is going to pay these high prices instead of just going with an aimpoint to save a few $$
The reflection you're seeing is not the circuit board/emitter, it's only seen through the camera or if your head is not in the correct position (lower than it should be). the optic is not blocking your view, it's larger since the camera is positioned closely. If you have two eyes - this was shot on a camera with one lens, so you only see one perspective and no other lens to fill in the blanks.
A lot of the justification I've seen for the circles sans dot is cqb work. Great video! Thanks
Would make sense. Anything inside of 7 you’d hit for sure
Dayum that glare though 😅
It's just because the camera isn't positioned like a head would be - just tested it out on my own and it's only visible if your head is in an awkward angle not looking through the tube correctly.
I loved my gen 1 556 Ruger American. ranch. Nimble, full size stock, compact with carbine length barrel. Shot well, and was just fun.
Have you been pretty happy with the ELW barrel supressed? Been eyeballing it but I have heard a bunch of conflicting stuff about the accuracy and how it groups when hot. Considering moving forward on the mk2 bfh elw 14.5 upper rn and figured I'd ask someone who has the rifle in hand and obviously shoots it instead of randos who probably have never seen one IRL.
It’s fine, but it’s no Match barrel. I think it’s great for just a regular 14.5”, but I wouldn’t call it an accuracy machine
I like when this guy yapps about optics, it just makes sense
where did the grease stain come from
Was camping with some guys one time
I think its going on my pcc
Nice!
Tremendo pedazo de herramienta!💪💪💪
Please tell me what obscure or objectively worse optic I didn’t include in the comparison chart below.
I love nanners
Like the vid and nice rig
There needs to be a new style of rifle call it an evolution of the scout rifle. "The practical rifle" Bolt action with irons or low power optic, light weight barrel 20' or less in any centerfire cartridge that you want. Pretty much what you have made here
Love this setup. I’m looking at getting a Ranch in either 6ARC or 6.5 Creed so it can double as a 300 yard deer rifle.
Ha! I’m building the same thing basically and that’s my “something special” rifle! I love my PSAs, but I wanted something special. It’s as big as I’m going!
I have the Ruger Gunsite Scout Rifle in 5.56.. probably my favorite Rifle. The quality and finish shits all over the American models. I also have a American Ranch in 300blk, it's okay for the price, and very accurate...just the stock sucks. If you can't decide on a Scout Rifle, just get an AR.
I shoot a lot and I was starting to think I just really suck and goi. Fast and after seeing this makes me feel a lot better about the same speed as this guy
This has a 7lb camera setup on the rear and I’m shooting through a 5” monitor with a delay
I’m not a guys who says a scout rifle must be xyz or it’s “not a scout” the idea was to create a practical weapon that would be useful in any scenario and have redundancy in case if damage/emergency. I think the gun in this video isn’t a great example, because with all these advancements in technology you’ve built a heavier gun with a weaker cartridge and an optic that needs batteries. We definitely can improve on the scout rifle with modern technology, but I don’t think this gun showcases that very well.
Hows your eotech so bright? I can barely see the one I have outside (at max settings).
You may need to send it in, then. Or change the battery.
