ZIUA DREPTURILOR OMULUI (HUMAN RIGHTS DAY)
Просмотров 2776 лет назад
As a part of our campaign for Human Rights Day, some members of our Health Club decided to teach the primary students at my school a few things about human rights. I’m so proud to see the dedication and the hard work these students put into creating these lessons and as a reward, I promised them I’d put the video up on RUclips for the world to see. So enjoy!

    • @scottondamove
      @scottondamove 6 лет назад

      Timothy Henry Hey man, welcome to the club! My PST town didn’t have a gym, but my permanent site has one. Keep in mind though, site placements vary tremendously, ranging from little villages to bigger “cities,” depending on the program you’re in a bunch of other factors. I was lucky enough to be placed in a bigger town, but I know some volunteers who have been doing a lot of body weight stuff at home to try to stay in shape.

    • @timothyhenry5783
      @timothyhenry5783 6 лет назад

      @@scottondamove Is it ever acceptable to show them? Like I'm wondering for packing purposes if I should pack any tank tops. Maybe not in my town, but would I want to conceal them even if traveling to the capital? I totally get the negative perceptions there and I'm totally understanding- just trying to figure out my packing. I take it they would need to be covered at all times while teaching(to include wearing long sleeves if necessary?) As I find it unlikely they could be hid for a long period from host familys, how would they react?

    • @scottondamove
      @scottondamove 6 лет назад

      Timothy Henry The PC response would be to try to conceal your tattoos while teaching at all times, but from my personal experience, once you’ve integrated into your community, they eventually get used to your tattoos and it doesn’t become a big deal at all. My suggestion is to pack long-sleeves accordingly, but after a certain point, you will be able to wear short-sleeved polos that shows your tats. And you don’t have to worry about hiding your tats from your host parents or when going to the capital cause you’ll see a lot of people there have tats too

    I just scheduled my interview for a position in Moldova. Was it difficult for you to learn Romanian? What are your living arrangements like after PST?

    • @scottondamove
      @scottondamove 6 лет назад

      Kelsey Harris If you’ve studied a Romance language before (Spanish/Italian/French/Portuguese), Romanian may be a little easier to learn since there are a lot of similarities. But even for complete beginners, I’d say Romanian is still fairly easy to learn. My permanent living arrangements are a bit different than my PST arrangements. I live in a bigger house in a bigger town so it has its perks. But you end up missing the small village life too every now and then. Good luck with the interview if you haven’t had it already!

      Jessika Mashburn Hey there! My biggest suggestion would be to get experience in the program that you are looking to apply into. I know with Peace Corps Moldova there are a few different programs: English Education, Health Education and Organizational Development Facilitator, so I would suggest to definitely gain some experience working in those fields before applying. Bachelor degrees are required for the English programs, but for the Health Education and the Organizational Development Facilitator Programs, you are required to have at least 5 years of professional experience in the field if you do not have a Bachelor’s Degree. And as for the language, you don’t worry about it beforehand because you will go through extensive in-country language training once you arrive. Best of luck!

      Nicholas Padilla Thanks for reaching out, Nick! The application process is really simple, I would just make sure to list and highlight any experience you may have that’s related to the program that you are applying into, as well as any work you may have had with youth. We work a lot with younger people in country and in my opinion it would make your resume even more appealing if you have had experience working with a younger age group. Good luck with the application process!
