Another academy gem. I really hope we don't sell Elliot and Doak as reported. Those two along with Ngumoha, Bajcetic Nyoni, Quansah and Bradley should be the foundations of the team for the future.

He has a lot to learn from this debut, but that's what these initial appearances are all about, put up against professional men and see what needs worked on. His movement off the ball needs work, he is allowing the defender to get tight to him too soon. This is where you learn game awareness, before even getting the ball he needs to create more space, fake run behind and drop off your defender to receive the ball so instead of having back to goal and defender touch tight behind you, you create a gap, turn face forward easier and give more space to either go down his side or cut inside. It also stops you being pinned in by the rb being touch tight behind you and the midfielder boxing you in on the inside which was what they were doing to him. That's something he'll be now coached on, shown video's to show where to be on receiving the ball first to give him that little bit more space and not get boxed in as easily. Showing too much of the ball when taking players on, this again will be more not being used to playing against bigger more physical players than used to, they have better timing in tackles, better speed to close you down and won't be as easy to dribble past. Again this is where he needs to learn to give himself bit more space when receiving the ball. Just even small things like this can make massive difference to how effective you can be. Diaz who I'd say his playing style is most like, you watch Diaz before getting the ball in wide areas, before that pass is made he has already moved off his man and created space to either take the RB on down the side or plenty space to cut inside if that's not on. I'm not being over critical I know he is 16 but this is exactly what the coaches will be showing him and working on, now they had a chance to see him against professional men. The best players will learn, adjust, and work on these things, the ones that don't make it at this level at big clubs either don't put that effort in or simply don't have that next level up in them. Only time will tell, but there's obvious a very talented young man there, a lot is positive in his game.
