Discussion of often obscure or antique firearms, but I do modern stuff when and as I can. Covering new and old from Sig, S&W, Colt, Glock, CZ and many other firearms brands. The primary focus has been on pistols, though I am moving into rifles and shotguns as well as time goes by. Firearm overviews, Firearms reviews, custom firearms, home-made firearms. I am a man of many and varied interests in the pursuit of my firearm hobbies!

Trying another video, though YTs dishonest and hostile actions still have me deeply in doubt about the prospects for it lasting. Please follow me on Playeur.com. It's free and the platform is not actively hostile to gun content. They also have integrity, notably lacking in the way this platform is operated.

Important Information on the Future of this Channel

This channel is in serious jeopardy. With over 100 videos removed for entirely spurious reasons in the last week I doubt I have much of a future on this platform. I will be posting content on Playeur.com (playeur.com/c/TinkerTalksGuns) as my main platform going forward. I'll continue to also post videos on You Tube for as long as they let me but I hope you will follow me to the new venue.

Single shot 410 Conversion to .22 Hornet
Просмотров 37 тыс.10 месяцев назад
People keep handing me ancient single-shot shotguns to do 'interesting things with, and it happened again last week with a bent-barrel .410. Add that to a 10/22 barrel awaiting a project and a friend's comment that he had a .22 Hornet changer reamer and the result was, if not inevitable, a pretty good bet. I have one made in 1909 beautiful gun not new looking… looks like a beautiful old gun or like a well worn saddle…. A thing of beauty…. Currently out of bullets need to buy… a gun I personally would never sell
Oh, that Elmer; I was thinking of the other one. There is still a place for old faithful both for fun and social work. Nothing I would rather have in a contact range scuffle.
my first singel barrel shot gun i got as a kid was 2 stevens 9478's one in 410 and the other in 20 gauge both in full choke i loved the 20 over the 410 for varmit hunting my grandfahter also had 2 H&R topper single barrel shotguns in 10 guage and the other in 12 these guns are a fun guns shoot great video
That thing came out beautiful
A friend just showed me this pistol stamped 1937. In caliber 7.65. He claims it's WWII Nazi pistol. Serial # 425780. Can you shed any light. Thank you , excellent video.
Nazi pistols were always marked in any of a variety of ways. Generally you can look online and find these marks, so if the pistol has any unusual markings you ought to be able to find out pretty easily.
Good and informative video!
My gun won’t fire that’s why I’m looking at this now the slide go back an all it’s just the hammer don’t stay back can you help me
Most likely the notch on the hammer that the sear engages is worn, and you will need to replace the hammer. Numerich Arms might have the part
Love a good revolver. Learned some really good little jewels of knowledge about them tonight. Thanks for a great video.😊
Hey man, i was under the assumption that the 1st gen had no trigger safety and a nub on the break open latch only on the left side. Then ive heard the 2nd gen has a nub for the break action latch on both side with a trigger safety, and the 3rd gen (smokeless), had a nub on both sides of the latch but no trigger safety. How do you normally tell the differences between generations? One of the guns that you showed, you said was 2nd gen but had no trigger safety and had a nub on the right side, which instantly stood out to me to me as a 3rd gen. Im just wondering what characteristics you use to date the guns
Okay: The first gen .32 had a single-side lever to break open and a trigger safety, the .38 had a T-bar and trigger safety. 2nd Gen on .32 and .38 had the T-bar lock and no trigger safety. The third gen guns (from 1909 on) had the T-bar lock, a frame that was slightly taller under the cylinder with an extra pin through the frame above the trigger. On 3 gen guns the cylinder does not free-rotate, IOW it's locked and can only rotate when the trigger is pulled.
@tinkertalksguns7289 Thank you for your response! I just received possession of a few guns I inherited yesterday. One of which is a 38, with the T lock/latch, it has a trigger safety, and the cylinder spins freely. There's a pin that pivots the trigger and one an inch or so behind it that pins the trigger guard in place. It has the serial number under the trigger guard, which is just under 50,000. Would this be the 1st generation?
Very Cool, Kinda Fitz special-ish. I have been looking for donor to make something similar. I total get where you are going with this
J'adore ! Ou on peut acheter la poignée ? S'il vous plaît
I actually made the handle myself, but I don't sell them. Sorry!
@tinkertalksguns7289 Super travail 👍
That is legit a very nice piece bud, your conversion cylinder with the "thumbnail ejector slot" and open gate (ungated?) seems awesome.
Got one of those handed down to me from my dad when I was in my teens back in the 70s, needed to be reblued. looks beautiful now.
I have a rearsenaled one but it has some race work from what I can tell but it has to be one of my favorite plinking guns I got. Thanks for the info cause I didn’t know much about it from the markings if it was a clone or something
it's too bad these didn't come with a threaded barrel 😐
I dont buy shoes and purses so .... That's why im watching you talk about guns ...lol 😊
😁😁😁
New subscriber to your channel. Watched your video on an older Harrington Richardson model 922. Really like your attention to the details . Must say your voice is one of the best on RUclips. This new AI narration is just not cutting it. Anyway great stuff . You have a new GunFan .😊
Will check this out
I have one just like the sample you’ve shown here.. I knew it was old but wasn’t sure.. so I’m guessing mine is older than 1968 because it has the checkered walnut grips.. I also have a Max .45 c/f
Does anyone know how to reinstall safety in the Mercury 22
I'll have a look at mine and see if I can figure it out.
Thank you! I figured it out! Once dissembled you can depress the spring into the trigger and push safety arm back into place!
@@gregpeterson9664 Nice! Good to know.
I think that trigger-the-trigger design goes back to the 19th century Starr DA revolver.
Star PD comparison might be interesting
My father carried a .38 S&W revolver occasionally during the 1970s when a member of the Irish Police (An Garda Siochána). A top break Colt I think. RIP Daddy.
RIP. Likely it was an Enfield or Webley. Those were commonly used by Irish constables.
@tinkertalksguns7289 Thank you.
I'm subscribing to your channel now.
@@jamesgilhooly8922 Thank you!
Another one I let slip away. ( :
Tinker, does the magazine follower look oversize? I'm just wondering because the 9mm has the same capacity as the .45. I believe all the dimensions are the same. I wonder if capacity is being reduced through use of a larger than necessary follower.
I'm not sure; I don't own this gun so I can't look.
I own both, stock I prefer the P07. The 01 is at the Cajun shop now for their pro package and I have a set of lok grips waiting to install. I really enjoy shooting both. The P01 may soon be my favorite of the two.

Nice! Now do a video on that Spikey Club you have on your rack.
That's a war club from Fiji. A friend of mine used to run a dive shop there and brought it back for me.
This looks like the ultimate IDPA gamer gun!
Is this a gen 3 kit? Want to know which one works with PSA dagger frame
This is mounted on a PSDA Dagger , so gen 1-3 for certain.
Looks very Robo Cop as it is. But of course, needs the final refinements. I'd do salt blueing. Not enough of that left in the world. Love to see how you do that.
Sadly I don't have the ability to do salt blueing.
Have you noticed any loss of accuracy with the large port. For IPSC, I have ported barrels but with about a 3/16" holes.
I can't say I have. If there is any loss of accuracy I can't tell.
Very nice!
Nice project!👍🏽😊❤️🇺🇸
Awesome job. Looks great.
Nice work! Beefy is beautiful. 👍👍
Another great video, think you would ever play around with the 960 rowland???
460 you mean? It could happen.
@@tinkertalksguns7289 rowland makes the 460 rowland and a 960 for 9mm pistols, there is little to none on it on youtube but supposed to be close to 357mag in a auto.
Thanks for the video 👍 This project is coming together nicely.
Nice job
There was also the semi Fitz treatment, thinning the width of the trigger guard on the right side, to supposedly speed access to the trigger.
Big Chungus !!!! Suh-weet 👍
I like it
That thing is sexy as hell.
Its big enough to slap an American flag on the side of it. ;)
Maybe a 38 super barrel for interchangeable fun?
Love the slick profile on that thing. Truly a work of art!
Howdy pardner! Good to see you again.
Is this a reference to Victor in Fallout NV?
🌿🥇🌿FIRST
Great test! My thoughts: Fmj after 4 layers of denim travels about 16-17" in gel out of a mouse gun. While the disruption on the defender ammo is more impressive, im not sure that it is worth the trade for a tomcat sized gun as additional penetrative force may be required to reach vitals and over penetration is less of a concern on shorter barrels.
An entirely valid perspective.
Would love to get my functional again. These things are really cool
