Broadway and Off-Broadway are so good when it comes to remastering their musicals; the revision is genuinely great.

They knew exactly what they were doing with this one single lyric. It's so emotional and really shows what he was thinking in that tragic moment.

How did this end up being more book accurate than any of the movies? Also the cast recording ended up being pretty decent from what I can remember

I thought that the demo was pretty good- Certainly, there's quite a few lyrics that are worse, but I thought that the version of 'your father's eyes' was pretty good, while Alphonse is at his breaking point, nearly completely delusional from grief, he mourns that surely there was something he could have done, should have done, that could have prevented this tragedy. Then Victor gets to hear the second part of the song, which gives him something to think about which leads him to his conclusion and apology in the reprise of Amen. I also liked Elizabeth's song buut I can understand why it would be better to cut it.
