    Looks like a adonsonii to me not esqueleto

    • @Plantdudejames
      @Plantdudejames 2 месяца назад

      Hey I understand why this is. Unfortunately both plants look very similar, especially at a younger stage. One way to tell the difference is that the fenestrations on esqueleto are actually a lot larger and more defined. If you look carefully they’ll usually be longer holes that nearly reach the edge of the leaf as opposed to adansonii which are smaller and rounder.

    I use the glass jar method with sphagnum to propagate Hoya. They love the added moisture. I also have used it for thirstier philodendron. And for both I just leave them in the jar and add a little fertilizer when I water.

I’d like to say I totally agree that not many people post about this plant and it’s very beautiful indeed. The more and more I care for this plant I realize how easy it is to take care of and it just takes a little time and learning, and it will give you the best results overall! I’m happy to see other people enjoying this plant and realizing how underrated it really is for being a variegated philodendron. the roots died because they could not get enough oxygen, because the soil held to much water. Placing it in a pot without drainage feels counter intuitive.

    • @Plantdudejames
      @Plantdudejames 3 месяца назад

      @@jasf1226 no, this method in the video is moss propagation. Works perfectly fine. You can view the results in my latest video. The previous fail was most likely due to over watering or root shock while it was potted in an airy soil mixture while trying to stay moist on a moss pole as shown in the beginning of the clip. Pot had more than enough drainage

    How do u keep the coco chips wet or soaked

    • @Plantdudejames
      @Plantdudejames 3 месяца назад

      Good question. One thing I forgot to mention is that this is strictly for support and I don’t usually worry about wetting it. Just using this as a support as if using a wooden pole but yes it is probably still ideal to wet it every once in a while. My goal here is not so much to encourage too much aerial root growth. Just something to allow it to climb on. If I had used sphagnum moss then I would keep moist for that particular reason but I don’t want the aerial roots to grow too crazy and if so I’d cut it every so often if they ever got way too long.

    New subscriber! For a cutting tool. Use Milwaukee long blade cutting sheers $25. They are in the Tool Hardware section. You will slice through the wire mesh in minutes. Also, consider cheap garden burlap to line the pole as you dump the soil in less will fall out, and it helps retain moisture and dirt. It's cheap. Plus, the pole looks better. If you need a photo of my moss pole, let me know.

      $20 is not bad at all and for what your doing to the plant, those are all great options to keep it maintained.
