I never actually believed in Santa Claus. I became suspicious at the age of 4 because “Santa” (my uncle) came to our front doorstep on Christmas morning and that seemed odd to me. I also couldn’t fit in the chimney as a little child and finally realized it at 5 years old. I managed to keep silent about my disbelief about it until the age of 8 when I quietly confided it with one of my siblings who was 6. Our mother came over, heard our conversation and told us to keep our mouths shut because of the younger ones who still believed in it.
