I’m mostly self taught and spend a lot of my salt time in Mosquito Lagoon. Fishing alone from a 16’ Jon comes with its own challenges, so the rewards are that much sweeter. My first slam was a seatrout, redfish and snook in 45 minutes and on topwater. I could’ve walked home across the water! This slam that these two pros just nailed brought all those memories back. My excitement and theirs takes a while to subside and it also makes me think of how to get more time off work to go back and do it again. Thank you Rob and Pete. I enjoy all of your content and you teach this old man all the time…..Tim

Permit are to me the fish you love to hate. I stalked three nice permit for at least 100 yards with my fly rod making casts right to them , No take . Tried just about every fly I had no take . Went back to the boat grabbed my spinning rod put a live crab on first cast the crab hit the water bam . When all else fails try , try again. Nice slam

It’s amazing how a fish can take over your life . Where all you think about is tying new patterns that are better then your best , the moon phase , tide phase , wind , water color , all the things that help us chase these fish and hope we know enough to catch one . And if we don’t , we do it again tomorrow. Thanks for sharing , and even the fly you were tying :-)

Been tarpon fishing for only 10 years and one thing that really rings true is it’s a team effort. Once you have that relationship with a guide and you work as a team it becomes so much more fun knowing what each other’s capabilities are and what to expect . Keeping that relationship is the hard part

I’ll take a day in the mangroves like that. You can have the shark. Started skipping boathouse doors in the 80’s and the thrill hasn’t changed. I live for the days I can get to the coast instead of the sweet water that’s close to home. Maybe we’ll talk about it in person one day Rob……Tim

The days with our daughters are beyond special. I spent yesterday morning with my daughter and a new convert, my 9 year old granddaughter. It’s been a few years since Jessie and I have fished together but like you were with Kaylee, I was proud of the skills she had retained. The granddaughter Tahlia hasn’t learned to cast yet so Papa has his work cut out for him in the backyard. I smiled as big as you did when the day was done, nearly 40 coppernose bluegill boated this day. No live bait and few frustrations. Thanks for this one Rob.
