Red Faction Review

Released In 2001, Red Faction's impressive geo mod engine allowed players to rearrange the martian landscape and for a budget title was able to remain an enjoyable, if flawed, fps. I had this back in the day, I’m actually jealous of your box set!
new video when? what is your twitter @ ?
I played Demo on PC a lot. Then i don't remember if i pirated OG version and played that, but at some point a friend gave Fully Loaded CD and we played that. 3 or 4 of us tried to play it on one keyboard, if i remember correct. ;d Or maybe we used gaming stearing wheel so that we can play multiplayer. Because checking it now it doesn't let me use keyboard for other players. 🤔 Now i'm playing both version on PC. You can get the OG Mashed on Steam or GOG for some 5 bucks, but Fully Loaded version on Zoom-platform about 5 bucks too. Idon't know why it's like that, when both versions have the same developer and publisher, but at least you can have both.
It's a new lap record and "new record" from moto racer are burned into my brain
That clip of the kid acting and falling and breaking the chair is hilarious lol 😂
Sebulbas pod is not the fastest :P its that quad engine racer but its terrible in every other way. And i dont find sebulbas pod to be the fastest either since turning just matters more in most maps. i found Teemto Pagalies or maybe it was bullseye to be the fastest in most maps since it rarely has to break for anything. been forever :P
Boles Roar is much faster. Can do 1000+.
Some pods reach over 1000mph
Been playing this last couple days but ... Meh. I'm done. Combat isn't fun enough to finish it. Too bloated with busy work. Ultimately more boring than exciting. I have so many better games to play in my backlog. I'll play those instead.
I just played through this game again and didn't realize/remember how short it was. Just as I felt I had the hang of the things the game was over. I wish they had incorporated one more harder league to the game!
glad i found your video on my homepage, you deserve more views man! we had Mashed on the PC, and wow this game was so good. we were so used to Micro Machines games and they got boring really, really fast. All of a sudden we played Mashed and that game was more violent, more rough, and way more interesting. I think we played the game so much that we memorised almost all the "insults" for all characters hahaha. Our favourite was the Ice track, the long "U" shape one (polar wharf) we would just play that one over and over It's a pitty that the Steam version doesn't let you play online, I would like that a lot. Thanks for the video, really well made and your dialoge was good to listen to.
I played through the game as a kid, used Christmas money to purchase the N64 bundled with the game. Bought the re-release on Switch when it dropped, and recently did so again on XBox. While the game has aged, and there is jank present from day one, the game is everything I remember it being. It may not hold up to today’s high speed racers, and let’s be honest, it doesn’t have to. It just has to warm my heart of memories from years past for the few hours it takes to complete, and it does that exactly the way it needs to.
The upgrades are shared. You can pick a different racer and all your parts are still there.
The clown at the end is based off of a Native American "Heyoka", which is a trickster. They're usually portrayed in a positive light, so I dunno why they decided the next dark lord would be one...
I've only ever played in single player, but I really enjoy it. Currently, I'm playing the Challenge Cup which I never did back then. Using a hacked PS4 to play a PS2 game from my childhood. 😆
The arcade cabinet looks like a completely different game because it is.
IVE BEEN LOOKING FOR THE NAME OF THIS GAME FOR TWENTY YEARS AND THIS JUST SHOWS UP IN MY RECOMMENDED VIDEOS PRAISE JEBUS
Wait what? A well written, informed witty review by a guy with less than 200 subs? YT algorithm you suck balls.
Loved this game back in the day
Gameplay like this is why I really appreciate that unlike most other Myst-adjacent games of the era, the Gadget duology of Invention, Travel, and Adventure and Past as Future (PAS is a remake of ITA and the definitive version) didn’t bother putting in annoying puzzles and just lets you soak in the disquieting atmosphere and cryptic story, barring one “puzzle” at the end which isn’t much of one. It’s very hard to pull good puzzles off, so if you can’t make it work or make some sense, don’t put them in at all.
God i remember playing this so much as a kid
Another cool video! I've always been curious about this game
I played this so much on N64.
I'm surprised nobody has really taken advantage of the vacuum left. This game was such a gem.
I loved this game back then. Very moody atmosphere in the first maps. Too bad it faltered near the end. Guess the devs ran out of time or ideas?
I fondly remember this for its outstanding intro, the amazing music and it's trippy gameplay mechanic of just walking on every surface. Blew my mind as a young one.
Excuse me my man, can you tell me what song is playing at 13:55?
It’s the Mothership Loudspeakerz remix of Forgone Destruction from Unreal Tournament. ruclips.net/video/EMOYx1zYWmM/видео.htmlsi=V1zCTfxztXDCpmlT
I really like your style of doing reviews! I'm glad I found your channel. Keep it up! GG!
Thanks, this brought back some good memories. I used to yell "IT'S WORKING!" as a kid with my friends playing this game. 😆
I enjoyed the video; it was a real nostalgia trip. The arcade version is indeed a completely different experience from the home version we received. It offers fewer tracks and racers, and the difficulty is set to an "arcade hard" level to maximize their earnings. While the graphics were a significant upgrade from the home version, they haven't aged well and appear dated by today's standards. The control system, with two sticks on both sides like you see in the movies, adds to the challenge. Once again, it was a fantastic video. I hope you create more nostalgia videos in the future.
Great review! I fondly remember not being able to boost because of my crummy n64 stick haha
Great video, very nostalgic
I've got a pc copy! Stashed an install on my drive too, fortunately it works stress free still. Such a good fkn game, it's so saddening it's so forgotten.
Best zombie game ever!! Need a proper remake of this masterpiece.. Hopefully one day, fingers crossed🤞
Me and my friends are now playing this every week, Top tier game
Its really weird because when you try to look at it objectively the game seems terrible in terms of mechanics story and variety but man is it super entertaining and really fun
I have the german version for pc.
Great review on this game. I couldn't end up making it entirely thru the game and ended up watching a longplay since I absolutely despise the gameplay, but I definitely share a lot of the same sentiments as you on this game. Looking forward to seeing more from your channel, keep up the great work! :)
Never played this game but i do have good memories of the first day me and my best friend moved in together. Then set up our tvs side by side to play video games all day and dropped lsd laced ecstacy. He was playing this and i was playing knights of the old Republic 2, it looked fucking wild 😂
I recently had an idea of making a game inspired by this for fun since not many people tend to know about it, but it will require alot of work.
There is make way on steam, pretty good imo.
How are there no comments on this?! It's really good, subbed for more :)
14:40 lol that's the biggest catfish ever
im pretty late ,,but thank u for this
I saw a trailer for this as a kid and I was instantly fascinated. Seems like an incredible looking game that is a nightmare to play. In a lot of ways I really respect the boldness to make a bizarre "arty" game, even if it is a weird forgotten failure, and I hope that maybe someday someone uses this as an inspiration to make an actual fun adventure game with a similar premise.
i have MASHED fully loaded on my PC and we are plying it on FULL HD now on the new hardware ..using Xbox one x controllers , four of them and the game look beautiful and so much fun to play. i am huge fan of the game i have been playing it since 2004 and we still play it all the time me, my cousins and freinds.. back in the day we used to use PS2 multiport for that... thanks for the review i love it
Still my favourite battle racer till this day
I think what really adds a certain charm for watching an LP for this game is like you said @QuercusReviews its got that otherworldly wtf horror element to them whereas most people call it a "Psychotic Disneyland" according to some reviewers. I tried getting this game to run on my Windows 10 only to find that it didnt work at all although it was 10 bucks on Steam. I will watch LP's of this every once in a while because I like this kind of psychotic stuff and this I mean they need to make more games like this or at least remake it, I understand nowadays we got Dante's Inferno which while not similar but kind of a certain idea from it but still, to walk around in this area i mean its horrifying while spirits follow you of those who have embraced damnation at its prime. Also James Woods really nails this role I mean yeah you hear his "car salesman" attitude a bit in here, but hey the game has got humor in it not to mention I got a laugh with the bleeps they put on certain dialogue lines like in the Anger office with them cursing and its mostly bleeps here and there. But to support your review, yeah the game is average the ending is wtf if you do it right, but I wish this game had more, hell the music is amazing for the time being as well and needs an entry onto RUclips as a audio track rather than watching the ending or intro to hear those songs, also the ambience is well done too, but as you said the story is lackluster and too simple. Its Ghostbusters with making your whole map a giant confessional in a church and Law and Order to put it bluntly
Oh my gosh I been waiting for someone to make a review about this game. and this is a long one. better fire up some Popcorn
Got the steam version a few weeks ago and i still like the game. It was from a different time where game were harder. Even on normal i had to reload a lot.
Nice to see someone else who knows about this weird game.
