Episode 131 Teaser: Rebecca Scott - The Rocky Raccoon 100, Being DFL, & Taking on the Speedgoat 50K
Rebecca Scott is a fighter! A quick scan of her UltraSignup will definitely show that she’s tough, with a podium finish in 12 of the 27 listed events, but what it won’t show you are the obstacles that she has had to overcome to get here. Because the truth is that life is not always fair, and adversity is not evenly distributed, but she is a glaring example that even in the face of overwhelming odds, we all have the power to persevere. And in her case, to share extra positivity with those around her. Her goal at every ultra is to bring a smile to someone in the race, Because, in her own words, “You have no idea what someone has struggled with, and if you can bring a little light to their d...

      We can't wait to follow! Good mix of terrain. We know the App Trail is your bread an butter and will be fun to watch you take on the flat and fast and then the hills at the end. Exciting!

    Man as a Floridian I am freaking about a bit with this whole weather issue. I’m so nervous about being cold!

    • @TheUltraRunningGuys
      @TheUltraRunningGuys 11 месяцев назад

      Temp changes can definitely be tough! Keep your core warm, it is better to drop layers than not have them with you. Tuck the extra layer in your pack so you don't get caught being too cold between aid stations. That's always the challenge, having it with you between the aid stations where our minds start making us question our sanity. Get warm and get the mind back into the game and you will do great!

      @@TheUltraRunningGuys do you have a recommendation for a lightweight but warm jacket that I could carry in my pack? Oh has to be vegan also so no puffers with animal feathers.

    • @TheUltraRunningGuys
      @TheUltraRunningGuys 11 месяцев назад

      @@barbaraneel7256lot of good options out there. Biggest thing to think of though is in terms of layers. To give you flexibility to vary it up depending on your own body heat and weather. Don’t lock into one item as it could make you too hot or not warm enough.

    I've been there twice and dropped at 50 both times. THIS IS THE YEAR! lol It's a really great race and a lot of fun. Truthfully, the colder the better and last year we had some snow to deal with, but I wasn't sweating at all. I disagree with the no light needed comment. It's pitch black at night. It's a small town, so plan on having to travel about 30 minutes for hotels.

      This is your year! Just blow right through that mid point and don't look back! And thank you for the feedback about your experience. This is exactly why we are starting to produce this kind of content. You are helping other runners that will watch this video and also read through the comments. So, thank you for taking the time to leave the note. And go crush the TH 100!

    SOO many quotable quotes in this podcast and Andy's other podcast you did with him. "Every day you are able to go do what you love, you should be smiling about it," and "Luck is the last dying wish of the unprepared." WOW... I scribbled those down to save them for later. EXCELLENT podcast, guys-- the way you LISTEN before asking questions makes this so conversational vs just a Q&A. This was such a valuable podcast, and as always, so many takeaways! Strong work!!!
