This channel is devoted to all the musical endeavors that my wife, Laura, and I are involved in past and present that are not covered in our other two channels: Forgotten Music For Flute and Piano and The Old Timey Two. Here is another hymn from our music service at Bethel Presbyterian Church in Pictou Landing, Nova Scotia with our friend and recorder player Nancy Fleury. This is a wonderful children's hymn published in 1900 that sadly doesn't seem to be popular anymore, nevertheless is quite enjoyable and popular with the older crowd.

We got to play with their Casavant Organ and a Yamaha Grand Piano along with the choir, who were excellent, and enjoy a wonderful service by the Reverend Mary-Beth Moriarity. @RandyandLauraScott Absolutely my husband Jim who was the hamilyon fiddle club president and niagara fiddle vlub member used to talk to George numerous times over the years. Jim respected George with his fiddle "perfection". Intonation..timing.. Bowing....thats what made him a true fiddler..missed everso much..

]The Dark Island] is a Scottish copyright tune written by Iain Maclachlan, used as the theme tune for a 1962 UK TV series. Nice interpretation!
Thank you. We are a bit confused about the copyright. We did a search and found a copyright on some versions but apparently there is an original pipe tune that is traditional with no copyright. I have never seen the BBC series.
@@RandyandLauraScott The TV series was wiped,, though a 1969 radio version exists,. It was quickly picked up and circulated as a pipe tune often just stuck down as trad.. Maclachlan apparently wrote it about 1958, he died in '95. (so he is not available to complain!). The original publishers Westminster Music/Essex Music have had to give up...as it's impossible for them to control, or they'd be dealing with miscredited versions of this tune every day on a global basis and dealing with copyright cases all the time. So you will find some versions credited and many more not! The Internet and global nature of the whole thing, made the copyright situation explode in their faces. There is no written original pipe tune... although quoted as having been written by Maclahclan in 1958, the first fixed recorded copyright was in 1962 as an accordion tune attributed to Maclachlan - nobody can produce recorded evidence of an earlier pipe tune..(no written sheets, or recordings pre-dating '62), but Chinese whispers!
