No scenes from Horanski's, Joe ? (I didn't know Horan's had a _Sauna Club_ till I saw this vid) What about the old Rugby Club ? The canoodling in the park seats . . . Some things never change.
@@markmoran916 are you blind? Everyone can see what's happening and there will be consequences. Nobody really cares about being called silly names, we're not in the school yard now.
@@swordofthelord7104 oh bless……you actually think white Irish and European politicians are trying to replace white Irish with non white Irish? And I bet you wonder why people like me think people like you are uneducated dumb racists 🙄
Based on the Movie Gandhi being shown in the Cinema (at around the 40 min mark) it must be around Feb 1983. IMDB site says it was released in Ireland on 18th Feb 1983.
Brilliant footage of our beautiful hometown of Tralee back in the day. As a 6 year old in 1983 it’s crazy but I remember so much of the town like this back then. Sad to see how this great town had died in so many ways. Thanks for sharing great stuff 👍🏻
An excellent video of local history of Tralee. A similar video of Tralee Courthouse should now be made before its transition to a National Museum of Social History. Sad to learn that Jess McCarthys pub is closed ?
Jess McCarthy's is temporarily closed due to Covid-19 restrictions like all bars that do not serve food and this is is due to be reviewed at the end of the month.
An owner of a 2 year old car in 1983 . . . betokens a measure of affluence for those days. I wonder what you were doing to keep those women waiting on you ? From a present day 23 year old car owner.
Many thanks for this. It brought back some lovely memories.I was too young and stupid to appreciate my town growing up. Long gone from home, I have a different viewpoint now. I think I even spotted my head in a picture in Clearys shop window. I will be calling my mother tomorrow to see if she remembers, as I dont :)
Excellent footage. Sadly you missed a few places such as Caball’s The Kerry Book Shop’ And Counihan’s shop. That aside’ it is probably the greatest attempt at filming Tralee Town during the 1980’s. It give an insight’ into the changes in the town.
Awful hiss of it!!!😬
The Abbey inn 1 min 32 seconds?
Loved it but I worked and lived there in 83 and the wom3n and men wear dressed in ac ordence to the times as all homes had the catalogue
Interesting to note, that there seems to be a lot more greenery and foliage in Tralee back then. It looked more of a rura town. Too built up nowadays.

When it was 100% Irish.

Well spotted. Gandhi released in GB in 1982. In Tralee a year later? 188 mins long. That’s a lot of candy floss, cola and pop corn
Random comment I acknowledge 😮
Great to see. I left Tralee around then.

I'm guessing the early part of the footage (first 5 or so minutes) is no later than 1950's? Surely not 1980's?

Start of video is pre 1983
1983? You must be joking
It may as well be 1950
i didnt see mitchaels crescent or the so called bullring that would have been interesting
Very few estates were filimed. The video seems to cover main streets . Eg..Johns Park, Brendans park, Marian park ,not filimed
you have done a great service to the townspeople for recording this time capsule. well done
@@padraigbeer3777 I second that
Fabulous footage, well done.
Great footage pity about cloghers house the state it's in today
Great footage - brings back a lot of memories. The town centre has lost a lot of its buzz since Manor West came into being.
