Yes and no, for safety on some of the sections it's wiser/more civil to let them know you're there first and then allow them to facilitate a safe passing..otherwise it becomes a barge fest.

In most cases it is not wise to do it with push-force, it can lead into collision or damage of legs, bikes...adrenaline rush can easily trigger then big argument(or UFC fight )...I think they also dont hear this voice as they have helmet and noisy voice from wheels make it hard to recognise. Plus all ahead think they run quickest as they can so that means anybody behind must kind of wait... On the other side this is competetive sport so many bikers dont care just push...mostly they are successful so depends on personality, character, right choise at right time-place. I suggest everybody at sessions like this one is must take into account many fouls coming from nature of this action in friendly manner.

J T you got a point there. The thing is, if you have a flat or a mechanical in quali, there just isnt to do anything about it, so its not like you could do better. I understand that they dont stop and let me pass, but the thing is, they also dont make room if they could. Ok, its a race, but in the end it should be fairplay as well. Its really frustrating, but thats just the game and we all agreed to play it, so it looks like we both have to bear the things we dont like ;-)

@@foxyobrown I agree, and again, congrats on the finish. Some major bad luck with the slip-n-slide at the beginning. Frustration is part of the game, though. Conquering that is part of the race. By all means, let someone know you are on their ass, but choose your time to pass like any other line you choose so no one has to sacrifice to improve your finish, IMO.

J T yeah but its not that easy, its not just any other obstacle like you are saying, because its moving! For overtaking safely you have to be a whole lot faster, which is just not doable with looking that much ahead. Just imagine you see the line where you can overtake and then you would need something like a rocket to fire you pass the guy in front... know what I mean? Its not like just a few pedal strokes and then you can pass.

@@foxyobrown Patrice, I'm sorry if it seemed I was saying you were being an a-hole. You weren't bad, in fact it was nothing at all compared to some. I understand and realize what you explained, and I, too, have been frustrated (I could feel it at one point when you were stuck behind some guy who looked like he was on a Sunday ramble and tried to sneak by but got cut off by terrain and him wandering into your way.) I've never been 4th at a huge race like that, I'm more like upfront-ish in the peloton so I'm dealing with other competitors. Peace.

@@trejt I get what you're saying but the safety aspect is paramount, attempting a pass in some of the sections would be dangerous esp if someone in front of you is slower and blocking you, it is reasonable to to let them know you're faster and intend on passing them. The slight caveat being if there's someone slower in front of them that's holding up both of you..

jose fernando amado garcia hi, at your size (170cm ?) I would go Medium, you wont be able to clear a 150mm dropper on the large. I havent decided yet (will decide end of the year) but I will most likely go with the large (174cm). GX ltd is by far the best deal, the only reason I will go with the top build is because I want it before april (for bike holiday) and the GX build is scheduled a bit later. Cheers

I know in pivot I'm definitely small size and don't know about the spartan.... witch one do u think is better ... I have read one of your posts in a mtbr forum, and I wish a bike similar to urs

jose fernando amado garcia depends on what you are looking for in the bike. If you want it for racing, shure take the medium. Oton is about your size and rides a medium. If you want it as your only bike for do it all, playfull/nimble, take the small. I havent ridden the Pivot, nice bike, but as it doesnt fit a waterbottle, its out for me.

Jean-Pierre Human it is fast and stable. I set 3 KOMS with this ride you see in the vid. But the suspension is firmer than I thought when looking at the travel numbers, it is not plush (rode it with 30% sag). High stack gives you lot of confidence on the steep stuff. Climbs pretty good (I did only fireroad climbs) as well, but if you get out on the saddle to push on the climb you also feel the high stack (not too bad though). I rode a large with 174cm. As I would use this bike as a racebike, I would def size up and take the large and put a 30mm stem on it.

Thanks for the info, which model did you get ? I agree I am also about 175cm and I ordered a large. In other reviews they mention you "feel the trail" I guess that is due to the suspension not being very plush as you mention. The last concern I had was the brakes the model I ordered NX Carbon comes with Guide T, I have a feeling they will be very underpowered. Your trails look long and steep should be a good test.

Jean-Pierre Human I tested the GX Model. The guide Rs held up pretty well, which I was very surprised about, since I also rode RSC and they were crap, no idea why. I tested a Foxy 29 with Guide Ts and these were really the biggest crap I rode so far, you will definitely have to change these. I didnt order yet but I will probably go with the X01 version. The GX LTD would be enough but they have a lot longer deliverydates for it here and I want it for a Trip to Finale in April.
