There is a natural area/small family type park I stop at daily on my way home from work to exercise or just unwind. The crows are numberous and I've recently had sucess leaving them peanuts, both honey roasted and unsalted raw. My sucessful feedings take place at about the same time, in the same general zone. I feel with continued attempts, the rapport will become stronger. It was quite amazing and unexpected for me to see them land one by one nearby my car at the designated time of day. They seem to be starting to recognize my vehicle and my face, I hope.

Still just have the 2 crows, and they're still ignoring most everything I put out, including the expensive mix of cracked corn, suet balls, sunflower seeds and crushed peanuts, the little ingrates🤣. The one thing that seems to be working is, when I hear the crows calling in my tree, I immediately grab a handful of walnuts and go out and let them watch me crush the walnuts in my hands and place them on the ground, and let them hear my voice. I know silence is the usual recommendation but I've found with many species, especially rattlesnakes, it helps them track me if I'm momentarily out of view, so they're a little less worried. Since I've been doing this, the crows almost always come down as soon as go inside and pick up some of the walnuts. Maybe there's hope yet! Editing this to ponder... crows are really intelligent and social. Should I be teaching them that humans come and serve crows instantly when called?

I'm surrounded by 5 crows everyday on the way to work. They're favourite food ofc is meat (but I never feed them mince/ground meat as it leads to beak infections) but I tend to carry around cat jerky sticks for them. If you get the soft kind they'll follow you everywhere ❤.

I love the crows but the squirrels who feed in my yard keep scaring them away. i decided to place some peanuts (in the shell) along the top of the block wall so they can easily swoop down and grab them. I watched one crow grab three of them into it's mouth at one time. I will say though, one of the squirrels wasn't' having it and he climbed up on the wall to eat the peanuts I left for the birds even though he/she had plenty on the ground to eat. LOL

I just moved into a house. I really want to encourage crows and after several fruitless months I have 2 crows that have come by and eaten unsalted peanuts and walnuts. I have a concern, though about attracting roof rats, which are apparently an issue in the area I moved into. I was thinking about a hanging tray, but after watching your video, I now know that's not an option for crows. What would you think about putting out food in the morning and removing it at night, since crows are diurnal and rats are nocturnal?

I moved to my current home almost a year ago and have been feeding birds and squirrels. Today was the first day I knew for sure that the crows were actually landing on my porch railing. I put out dry dog food for the Jay's but I guess the crows like it too! One was battling a snake in my yard one day. The crow won. I'm pretty sure they nest close to my house and have a couple babies that are just about all grown. Thanks for the info!!

I've been feeding a pair of crows for almost 2 years now. They stay here during the winter and visit every day! Mine love to eat unsalted peanuts in the shell and sunflower seeds. I only put food out when they visit. Otherwise seagulls, grackles, blue jays and squirrels steal their food. They have left me a few gifts but not often. I have received a bent nail, a shiny screw and a shiny rock. The pair of them aren't scared of me and often wander around the yard when I'm outside. They won't approach me though. They have brought crow friends with them a few times as well.

I have a feeder on a pole in the backyard. It has a squirrel baffle which is quite effective. I put the gristle from my steak dinner on the roof of the feeder,it is gone in no time. Raw excess fat from steaks is also very popular with crows. Finally,on weekends,I get rid of fat when frying bacon by putting a piece of bread in the pan, which soaks up bacon grease. Thrown on the garage roof,it is gone in minutes. Neat to see crows flying away with a grease soaked piece of bread in their beaks!

Hes been getting whole raw eggs in shells, cooked sliced ham, peanuts, the odd frankfurter, ready meal trays with lasagne etc leftovers, wet soggy brown bread, hard boiled egg yolks. The little buggers seem to eat anything including grapes, cherrys, apples, strawberrys, chinese special fried rice and indian takeaway, chicken tikka massallla being their favourite ! Cant be doing them any harm hes as fit as a fiddle at 7 years old and comes and knocks on my back door then comes in and sits down for a while. his wife comes and preens his feathers too !!

They love peanuts and sunflower seeds (hulled). I go out to the street and feed them. ( I live behind a row of businesses in a small community of homes) if I am late they buzz my house! Yes, one day they followed me home. But they do know what I look like and my dog. I do feed mealworms also. I feed only once a day and in 15 minutes all the food is gone. Four cups plus a quart bag of peanuts. Every once in a while my dog will not eat its fresh meat I cook so I save it for the birds and they love it! The pigeons are little vacuum cleaners! I usually get pooped on too. Its ok.. There are some real bird haters where I live and had to move where I feed them to get those haters off my back. UGH! So that is mainly why I got the hulled seeds and peanuts so as not to leave any messes so no one complains!

I found an injured adult crow in the road today. Not sure what happened but he was missing several feathers on his back. We got him off the road and to our yard where he stayed in the same spot for several hours. I was looking for a wildlife rescue to call, I was afraid he had been hit by a car. After about 8 hours of sitting in the same spot he started to make a fuss loudly cawing. I kid you not, in only 30 seconds we had a yard full of crows coming to his aid. One crow flew to the neighbors tree and cawed to him, the injured bird was able to awkwardly fly low as far as the neighbors yard. Other crows stayed close to him. They continued to encourage him and he did make it up into a tree eventually. He had a hard time doing so, and one wing appeared to be giving him problems. It was a gift to watch this and I have journaled the event so I never forget the details. These crows all worked together as a team to help the injured bird, it was incredible! It is dark now, and the crows are quiet. I sure hope he makes it. 🖤

Lovely thing to witness! Thank you for sharing. My crow-nies, who have befriended me since our family dog died, are impressive in their familial obligations. It was so touching when, after a few months absence, the parents brought their three fledglings to the deck to meet me. They proceeded to give their young a lesson in dipping the snacks I laid out in the bowl of water. The crow fam visits twice a day. I love them.

I took care if a grounded Fledgling Crow for 8 days. It was an incredible experience. I had to "feed" the baby with food on the point of my index finger, placed down the throat of the baby when it demanded food. What a riot! They eat an amazing amount of food. With a bed at a window (screened in) the family of birds Cawed if I Cawed a call to them. This got the baby excited. Once he could fly well enough without crashing..from the couch to the TV, to the bed, to the coffee table, to the dresser... LOL. I decided it was time. At first he couldn't fly well enough and I had to help him get out a a plastic garbage can he had fallen into, but he finally got high enough onto a cable line and then a tree. I haven't seen him in a few weeks which makes me think maybe they didn't care for him anymore. Which I would really regret! This crow was personable, friendly, would finally land on my head or shoulders, he would nuzzle with his Beek to my face and head. I could sense feelings and sensitivity in the Crow. I named him "Charlie". Only one problem. Since I took the baby in to prevent it from being run over by a car, or attacked by a cat or raccoon, the other crows remember my face, and send an alarm whenever I walk where they are.Kaw kaw kaw kaw incessantly! I tell people that the noise is about ME, but they think I'm nuts. Even though they got their baby back, they still mark me as Persona Nongratis. In addition, I don't seen the baby with them. There were 4 crows and the baby in their family. I only see the 4... two loud adults and two big juveniles. I pray that they are feeding Charlie and he is growing up. He couldn't feed himself.

I feed crows in my front yard. Not every day, but most days. When I come outside to garden, they tend to gather nearby. I don’t have a feeder. I just throw food onto the front lawn for them. I keep a clean birdbath in the backyard for the crows and other birds. I feed the crows the following: 🐦‍⬛ 1. unsalted peanuts in the shell. 🥜 2. Tater Tots 🥔 3. small salad shrimp 🦐 Sometimes squirrels eat the peanuts and Tater Tots and smaller birds eat the Tater Tots too.
