Thanks so much for this beautiful telling of Oisin's story. I'm reminded of a saying, "the Irish ... all their wars are merry and all their songs are sad." :)

Repent and trust in Jesus. We all deserve Hell for our sins, such as lying lusting coveting and more. We can't save ourselves, but Jesus can save us. He died on the cross to save us for our sins and rose from the grave defeating death and Hell. You must put your faith in him only. He is the only way to Heaven. Repent and trust in Jesus. Romans 6:23 John 3:16❤😊

hey, so either wiki is wrong or you. Im guessing its wiki it says "[ɯ] ⓘ Turkish kayık "caïque", Scottish Gaelic gaol Like [u], but with the lips flat; something like [ʊ]." it sounds like unrounded "y" instead. Could you explain that vowel? (also why there a V at the end of "gaol")

Have you seen my little Jimmy? My little love, my little boy. Have you seen my little Jimmy? As he was going down the road. No shoes at all on his little feet. On his little feet, on his little feet. No shoes at all on his little feet. Nor a little hat or coat. Going to school is little Jimmy My little love, my little boy, Going to school is little Jimmy A little yellow book in his pocket. On his back is a little bag A little bag, a little bag On his back is a little bag And his little lunch inside it. He was born in Móin a Lín At the bottom of the hill in a little bird nest He was born in Móin a Lín Near to Bun Dóite. The love of my heart is my little Jimmy My little love, my little boy. The love of my heart is my little Jimmy From morning till night.

An bhfaca tú mo Shéamuisín? Mo stóirín óg, mo bhuachaillín. An bhfaca tú mo Shéamuisín? Is é ‘gabháil síos an bóthar. Níl bróg ar bith ar a dhá choisín. Ar a dhá choisín, ar a dhá choisín. Níl bróg ar bith ar a dhá choisín. Níl caipín air ná clóca. Ag dul ar scoil tá Séamuisín Mo stóirín óg, mo bhuachaillín Ag dul ar scoil tá Séamuisín ‘S a leabharín buí sa phóca. Ar a dhroim tá máilín beag Tá máilín beag, tá máilín beag Ar a dhroim tá máilín beag 'S a lóinsín ann is dócha. Do rugadh é i Móin a Lín Ag bun an chnoic i nead éinín Do rugadh é i Móin a Lín In aice le Bun Dóite. Ó grá mo chroí mo Shéamuisín Mo stóirín óg, mo bhuachaillín. Ó grá mo chroí mo Shéamuisín Ar maidin is tráthnóna.

Thanks, Cori, for your version of this classic tale. Oisin really got to have it all. His good heart and final act of kindness was a perfect way to break the spell and set forever what kind of man he truly was. This is the eternal dilemma of demi-gods and vampires. It is our ephemeral existence that makes it all so precious. So many Irish fairy stories have this time discontinuity that cannot be undone by any spell. Only the time in the future is available for such mischief. The past is gone forever.

    • @davythfear1582

You didn't need recordings. Edward Lhuyd on his visits to Cornwall in the 18th century wrote down the pronunciation in his phonetic alphabet, people wrote letters etc phonetically anyway because there was no fossilised spelling system, as with English, and Anglo-Cornish dialect survived. Also people had knowledge of Cornish into the 20th century. Knowing what the correct pronunciation is of Cornish of different periods is not the problem. Whether people keep to that pronunciation or let their English accents take over is another matter. Also although we know about the stress, the intonation of Cornish is less secure.
