Bronte SLSC established in 1903 is a vibrant community oriented surf lifesaving club which patrols the beach during summer, trains lifesavers, supports local community events, and runs the annual Bondi to Bronte swim.
Bondi to Bronte Ocean Swim Course
The Bondi to Bronte Ocean Swim course traditionally starts in front of Bondi Pavilion, runs out from Bondi, around Mackenzie’s Point and down the coast into Bronte Beach, a distance of 2.1 - 2.4km (depending on the positioning of the buoy off McKenzie’s point).

The crew men shold be locked in fully and not sitting up like that when waves are coming! And the driver should have said something!
Sitting up is ok in the whitewater so long as you can get the nose back down again. It's not really an issue in these waves. At 1:08 the driver made an error by mistiming the wave completely. He could have turned right and went over the shoulder of the wave before it had broken, or turn and ran. Instead he rammed straight into a breaking lip and at a little too much speed. After they went over the whitewater, they sat there staring at the next wave and ended up getting dropped on. Once you're in the drop zone, as soon as you go over the last broken wave, you need to get moving straight away. The crew didn't have time to lock in but in all honestly an experienced crewman would have seen it coming and locked in on their own. A driver can't always tell them what to do, they have other things to worry about. The driver mistimed the way wave but it wasn't really that nasty of a wave. You're right that the crewman should have locked in harder though
That was absolutely shit driving and crewing. The crewie should not be out there if he cant work out what to do in those conditions.
