cml797 - 02 UP L. Brown Pipe 23 Dec 13 - Kirby Yard: This UP train is leaving the west end fueling racks at Kirby Yard after taking on a new crew and fuel. It is carrying one spacer car and 31 cars of brown pipe. This is the only time I’ve photographed a train with brown pipes. I’m taking this video from beside FM 78, the main road through Kirby.
I took this video in 2013, and as of 2024, this shot is no longer doable because of a fence U.P. put up between the tracks and FM78 to keep people from crossing the tracks. Carl Lehman

What a great consist & cool video. Equipment from 155th Armored Brigade Combat Team Mississippi Army National Guard heading to the National Training Center for Training Rotation 17-07 @ Fort Irwin, CA.

Most likely is, but I didn't pay attention to the placards, so I'm not sure. We also get trains of oil from the Eagle Ford drilling area south of us. Carl

The city keeps cleaning up the dumped junk, but scum people keep dumping trash here and at the other end of Saltillo Street, which is an even better place to take photos, especially of eastbound trains when there isn't trash in the field!

Not sure if the commodity is beer. That is more suited for reefers or insulated boxcars, not these ones with regular sliding doors.
It has been verified that these boxcars are carrying beer made in Mexico for import into the States. We see these trains every time we go out railfanning. cml
