Bavaria C57 - joining the Nisos fleet for 2019 season
Looks like Vathi.
For decades, we have been using this technique in the agean see Turkish coast. Please do not tie Around a tree, it is very harmful, you may crack down the tree by the force of the wind. Line to shore technique is not a must, but necessary to open space to new yachts where crowded. If you cannot find a rock , please do not tie to a tree.
Compared to a muring line... the anchor can never hold you so tight in position... how to you prevent the boat from collidinig with the pier backwards.. the anchor can not prevent it from moving backwards?
A well set anchor will most certainly hold a boat off the quay. Put lots of chain out. We have 100m of chain on most boats and the excellent Rocna anchors.
@@nisosyachtcharter79 and pull the anchor tight? The chain will come up high!!?
Nice and short -- in a crosswind situation where you don't want to swing, what would be the recommended exit strategy?
Brilliant advice, simple and to the point, thanks
Think, with 2 crew it is more easy to pull line from the boat side to shore.
I think the robe broke tree İ was suprıse they allow at the Greece At Turkey they dont allow the tide the rope to the trees Take care Happy sailing
Very good video. Short, straight to the point and no nonsense. Subscribed 👍

Klampenschlag????
Nice maneuver with proper use of the truster!!
I think I recognise those voices! Great video.
Looks absolutely fabulous..... Holiday of a lifetime!
It most certainly is Jim!
Espectacular!!! 😍😍
Great video! I recommend wearing gloves when touching/handling a lazy line that has been on the bottom for a long time. Sometimes they're nasty and have 'sharp sealife' on them.
simply a great video.
Hello. Is this boat available to buy it?
fantastic, where is this?
fumigation from what??
straight and to the point great vid. so many of these vlogs do these endless boring explanations leading up to the manoeuvre. message to all other vloggers. give us sailors what we all want. the manoeuvre in as short a timeframe as required. sorry but we don't want to listen to you guys giving us war and peace :)
no snubbing?
Fantastic condition for a boat that has done 12 seasons of charter work. A testament to the whole Nisos team!
As an owner of a long keeled norwegian made 33 feet sailboat from the 70's, it blows my mind to this day that people have steering in reverse. Well well, at least we sail these sexy classics instead of mcdonalds sailboats. I just have to go 90 degress to port to stretch out my anchor chain though. Sorry, I'll "drift" away in the night, lol
their anchors are placed in seaweed and will not hold boats well))and in Turkey they would be fined by the maritime police for tying mooring lines for trees
The only addition I would add especially for Turkey lazy line mooring, is once the stern lines are on, let out 3-4 metres of the stern lines so the boat moves away from the pontoon to enable as much lazy line to be taken up before locking it down; then reversing back to the pontoon taking in the stern line slack until your boat is as close to the pontoon as you need, then lock off the stern lines too
Especially children, it's better to tie the fender before putting over it over the side. I've seen fenders dropped in the water whilst trying to be tied on. The bow mooring line wasn't led to the cleat very well.
What's the point in paying for a mooring that has no lazy lines, with the risk of crossing anchor lines, and cause damage to the boats? Better fill water at gas station and stay in the bay. Wtf
Most moorings like this are free in Greece, so you cannot expect too much in the way of facilities :-)
❤️❤️
I love the linesmen bringing out the stern lines. Great job.
Awesome video, pretty nice and clean way to show how it should be done. Well done! I personally put a big fender to the stern because I'm not that experienced - yet. ;)
Came to learn more about Ionian boat charter - stayed for the absolutely beautiful and creative video and audio production... well done!
Thank you Paul. It sums up what these holidays are all about!
Very competent crew you have, sir. It's just simply pleasure to watch. Very nice tutorial too. :)
Thank you!
Any advice for single handed and with no windlass?
Please try to show a video where the windward and leeward-lines are fixed to rocks, not at a tree. Trees become massiv damaged. Thx
I liked how you conveyed its literally childs play if you know what your doing. Good video. I have wondered if buoys on anchors might help prevent some of the crossing that sometimes happens but in busy harbours this is maybe not practical? Be interested in your thoughts.
I don't know how you got the music past the RUclips fun police but it made me chuckle at any rate. I'm looking at a rough project on ebay...but I have come to the conclusion that I don't have the time...money.....or skill to do it justice. Cracking Job Gents 👏
Should have been sailing Choosy last month 😢 can’t wait until next May. Best wishes for a better half of 2020 hope the rest of the year goes well for Nisos staff Keep up the great work you do 😊👍
Thats our old boat!! I was crew with Malcolm (posted below) and this boat not only saved many lives but looked after us beautifully. Thanks Joe. We love her dearly still. She is in safe hands!
Great video
CANNOT LOAD IT🙁
very good
Thanks for these tips. In this video and also in the couple of similar videos it is not visible to me the following: When my crew member ties line to a tree and bring the other end of line back to the boat, I saw in this video (and others) that the line is then fed into the winch? How do you then tie the line on to the cleat if it goes through the winch?
You can pass it through the cleat an then winch it but only if not enough muscle power or strong wind. After you pull enough can take off the winch an use the hands to finish cleating it. As the rope is already passed throug the cleat you need less muscle power to hold the rope. Btw in the video the cleat hitch is a bit weird - not according to standard:)
@@JRadev-lq1ds Hi, I wish I had seen the video before I went to the Ionian! However the system we worked out was very similar, but to answer your question we always took the shore line back to the winches and used these to get the boat exactly where we wanted. having got the position right we then left the line on the winch but took the tail back to the cleat as an extra security measure. We moored and left in some very heavy cross winds and keeping the lines on the winches winches helps when leaving too. The only other tip I would share is that if leaving in a very string cross wind as soon as the windward line is off the boat will swing. We combatted this in some locations by completely releasing the windward line from the boat, and then motoring out taking the anchor in. As soon as the windward line was released the shore crew pulled it in (to get it away from the boat) and then could leisurely undo the bowline and stow the line in they dinghy, after which they rowed / motored manoeuvred
@@JRadev-lq1ds Hi, the windward and leeward-lines was fixed with the OXO-Method to the cleat. That's the RYA standard for British sailors. Btw: I'm not a fan of this method, but it works well as the global standard you mentioned. I use the global standard as well. ;-) Regards
@@markmitchell4353 thanks for the crosswind tip
@@ushi120 i also learned oxo in rya in UK but it once slipped on me on a thin, wet line. so now i always put a locking turn on. unless on a very thick line that may need to be slipped quickly. i think rya need to rethink this
Great video
Good tips..
Only good video about med mooring.. thanks for your work..
Well done. My problem has allways been how to determine whether or not the particular marina wants you to put down your anchor or whether there are lazy lines ready to be used.
Well if you approach the quay first to research the mooring you will see if other yachts are using anchor or lazy line or if no yachts in - you will see the lazy line on jetty.
Lovely boat great for a family of four
Hi Barry, yes just leave in reverse as long as the anchor has a hold. Always cover the throttle in case it doesn't hold and you need to put into neutral or even fwd gear to keep the stern off the quay. Thanks
Great demonstration. One question though, when you're about to let the anchor bite, are you keeping the boat ticking over gently in reverse, or are you in neutral? The skipper here says neutral, but then mentions that the boat is not springing forward too much because it is still in reverse. To me it would make perfect sense to keep the boat ticking over gently astern, so long as the hook has bit, and until the windward line is made fast.
