    Hello! Is the lower canvas secured to the lower part of the garment with pad stitching? Or is it just secured at the seams with the lining? Thank you!

    The one thing I can't work out is how to make the front shoulder to waist longer than the back shoulder to waist. Do you add it all in the armhole area? If not, is it added in the bust area, but how to avoid making the front side seam longer than the back? I'm doing a coat that doesn't have bust darts. Thanks if you see this!

    I am so pleased that I have found your page. I am a mature student of Classic Tailoring and have been a bit confused about the types of canvases and their purposes. Thank you most sincerely for your tutorial video on this subject. It has helped me considerably. Thank you.

    BTW Perhaps trying to borrow from your local library to see what works best for you. I also tie different coloured wool around the handles of my fabric and needlework scissors. Death to anyone in the family who touches them! I've also discovered that keeping my disolving marking pens in the fridge so that they don't dry out as quickly. It's the alcohol that makes them dry out fairly quickly, especially in Australia, where it's hot. Just as an aside, I also keep my nail polish remover and perfume in the fridge because I found that they were evaporating almost as fast as I was using them, especially as I like good perfumes and I have different preferences for the different seasons. Basically, I now keep anything with alcohol in it, in the fridge ... learnt from experience! 🙂

    The tracing wheel is better if used against a hard line such as a wooden or metal ruler, and I prefer to use it on a (self sealing) cutting mat. 😊

    Thank you! I've never heard anyone explain this. It's very valuable information. If a person looks at a multi-sized commercial pattern, they will see that most 'edge' points don't increase for every size increase. But they do at some point. e.g. where the shoulder line and armhole curve meet, or the size of a lapel or pocket. Glad to hear you mentioned that the enlarged or decreased pattern size still needs further fit analysis.

    What purpose does extending the lining beyond the garment size serve?

    • @Staffsknot
      @Staffsknot Год назад

      I can answer this question for you. You need a bit extra ease in the lining fabric as you do not want the lining to pull your main fabric when you are wearing the garment. And another reason is to prevent loss from fraying. Hope this helps.

    This is fantastic, I’m interested in producing athletic apparel but I have a hard time getting the exact specifications for stitching of say Lululemon on my industrial machine. How can I learn those techniques?
