    How did your wife contribute over the federal 401k limit for 2 years (2023 and 2021)?

    • @Lucrative_Luke
      @Lucrative_Luke 3 дня назад

      Good question! When you have a 403b and 457b you can max both out not just one. Then I would max my 401k. So we could max out 3 all together.

    Just a quick point on the rule of 7, the 7 years is only for a defined set investment. You have been investing every year so that money on top of the original investment still needs 7 years to double. So as a whole you won't see your total amount to be doubled as its progressive - the newer contributions need time to double as well.

    • @Lucrative_Luke

      Yes thank you! This was my dilemma when doing this. When you are actively contributing, it’s not easy to see your lifetime return. I’m still taking real estate over stocks though 😁

      @@Lucrative_Luke I have another question regarding your spreadsheet. I found it in your last months video, but wanted to ask how you would calculate you investments worth into your total worth. Because at the moment its just what I invested, not what they're currently worth. i think the spreadsheet is different than the one your using. I hope that makes sense. thanks!

    • @Lucrative_Luke
      @Lucrative_Luke 24 дня назад

      Sure! The primary thing I track is net worth. People may have different goals depending what stage they are in (paying off debt, saving cash for a house, investing, ect.). Net worth increasing is a sign you are moving in the right direction no matter what goal you have. The spreadsheet calculates your assets (like cash, cars, property and investments) and subtracts the debts you have. So in my case I have 2.2M in assets but still have ~700k in debt so my net worth is 1.5M. More specifically on investments, I use the current value that they are worth if I sold them today. So since it’s mainly stocks that number will go up and down as the market changes. You can go back to the 2020 video when we had the COVID crash and you’ll see my investments were decreasing every month. But here recently have mainly gone up each month. So to make each video I do have to log into about 5 or so accounts to get the current value of the HSAs, and 401ks. Let me know if this helps!

    I haven’t done my September numbers yet but I believe I’m up about 1-2k. Worked every single day this month and still managed to keep up with college. Roth is now up 37% I am not enjoying college at all and feel it’s just taking my time without great return. I went to the schools business internship fair Thursday where they had people from about 50-60 companies with stands to go talk too. I talked to almost everyone and only 1 company had someone actually advertising an internship. That was somewhat disappointing and I just don’t think my school has the best business connections. After looking at the average salary of Business Majors school just seems to make even less sense. The average business graduate makes 41k fresh out of college but I have been pacing 45k (gross) just the last couple months working some overtime. And I love to work, not getting burned out at all, and wish I could work more. I applied to an Amazon Warehouse job paying $18.50, and it advertised really flexible hours from as low as 20 a week to as many as you want. I also applied to an associates job with Fidelity. Moving up with Fidelity they’d also be able to sponsor me to get my brokers license, no degree necessary. So I am thinking that my plan of action will be to work 2 jobs and just replace that time I’m spending on classes with another job. I am also currently learning some online skills, basic stuff so far like video editing and basic page marketing. I would love to have a social media page that brings in money. I see this course as an absolute grind for 5-8 years but I can see it through. I am expecting I’ll achieve my 1st 100k sometime next year and If I can continue these returns I’m currently making in my Roth in a regular brokerage account on a much larger scale I should be really well off quite quickly. So I’m thinking Money now is better than a high salary in 25 years after an agonizing grind.

      They will yes, mortgage rates will come down as well but I’ll have to find another asset to park funds into. But 5.25% risk free isn’t bad right now. Warren Buffett has a huge portion of his portfolio in them currently. We usually don’t buy anything over $3000 unless it’s a really good deal. All cars we got crazy good deals on and I guess that included the four wheeler too. It was a used 2020 Suzuki and we got a great deal when we bought it haha

    I gained 4,242.45 this month. And I am almost 17k ahead of my Goal Pace. Just as you said earlier in the month I was down almost 4k but I got my record largest take home pay check of over $1,700 and just kept working as much as possible although I did have 2 days off of work in the Month of August ended my work streak at 52 days. College started but so far managing the time around it seems like it will be quite easy. I also found out the owner knows about how much overtime I’m getting but he’s actually completely fine with it. And this next week I’m working 7 days so for now it’s back to being a mystery when my next day off work will be.

    My Roth was a ride this month. It ended just above $8k for July and when the market opened August 5th it was bellow 7k. It recovered rapidly and pushed beyond now sitting up over 26% in what’s been just about 2 months. It’s likely I’ll hit 9k in the Roth this next week. Last week I had sold puts on Intel and thought for sure I would have to buy 400 shares but Friday the stock jumped and bailed me out. I’m entirely cash right now until I make my next mover Tuesday.

    I gained $1,666.40 for the month of June. Back to back record pay checks and one had over 100 hours for the 2 weeks which was cool to see. This was my first month this year losing some money trading options I lost $350 there and I also withdrew the rest of the money in there because it was under my dads name so I gave him some money to cover taxes and a little extra. I applied to costco but will probably have to call them here tomorrow because I heard they have about 2,000 applications at all times. And from asking employees that work there they said you do have to do additional reaching out otherwise your application might not be looked at. I opened my Roth IRA with RobinHood because for $5 a month they give a 3% match on the Roth and give a 5% APY on cash sitting in a traditional account. I have already put 6k in and have the last 1k coming in at the end of this week. My bullish feeling for SOFI has certainly held me back so far this year but this play is still a longerterm play and I have increased my cost on the investment to $10,000 and not only that but inside my roth what I’m doing is selling Put contacts where I will agree to buy 100 shares of the stock at $7 if the price is bellow that come 8/02 now the good news is I’m doing that for just after their earnings and I expect this Q2 report to be strong. I also get $80 (current trading price of contracts) for each of these contracts I take on so my cost basis picking up the shares would only be $6.20. So If SOFI is above $7 come 8/02 I make 11.43% on my money in a month and If SOFI is bellow $7 I still buy with a cost basis lower than todays price. so for a stock I already love and own a lot of this feels like a good deal. But certainly exposed to SOFI a lot to the point if the stock has a really bad month my networth will probably be flat and just hedged out by my income while if the stock has a good month I’m looking at a 5k month easy.

    • @Lucrative_Luke

      The company pays into the pension on your behalf. I don’t contribute anything to it. It works off a point system on you age and years of service. But the company contributes 1.2% of you salary to the pension. It’s a very uncommon perk now a days but used to be pretty common 20-30 years ago. But most companies have removed these and went to a 401k only.

      I would first pay off all debts I have just so I wouldn’t have to mess with them anymore and could cash flow more. Second, probably leave my job and do something I enjoy more. I’m working probably 80-90 hours a week if you count travel time right now. And getting phone calls at night a lot. I can barely keep up with basic chores like mowing the grass. But making good money so I’ll keep at it. Third, most likely buy more real estate, but it’s tricky. I won’t buy anything unless I get the 15% cash on cash return. So that may have me waiting years to find that. If I couldn’t find real estate at that return, I’d invest in safe dividend paying stocks for the short term until those deals came up. And maybe start a business. But long term, 20 years from now, I would like 50ish houses/properties.

    This month I increased my Networth by $1257.91. Which was slightly more than my take home of $1242. And I definitely spent a lot of money this month. Last Friday I was actually up over 4k on the month and up over 3k in the options trading portfolio, But I left it all in because the risk reward on SOFI was where if the stock went up $1 on earnings I’d make another 4k and if it went down $1 I’d lose 2k. And it was 2k I was already up on the position. So basically go big or Break even. And the second of the 2 happened and so I didn’t have a crazy 8k-10k month like I hoped. I did take out all the money I contributed to the account this year back out now and am only playing with already made profits.

Any advice on how to optimize my investments? I am mostly holding s&p500 right now. no property yet because I have changed multiple jobs in the last 5 years and I admit I am scared of buying a house and then I will relocate for a better job in a year or something so I am renting right now but its killing me to pay rent where as I can build equity. Any tips for my situation would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

      You’re the exact same age as I am. I’m turning 30 in a couple months as well. I hit the first million when I was 28 years old. I think you can easily hit it by 2030! I’m also mostly holding S&P500 index funds. You should take a look at my Feb/march2023 videos. I did a relation for the job I’m in now and got a relocation package that paid me almost 100k. So having a house at the time was an extremely good move. Maybe you can do something similar? But in terms of real estate I always buy houses that are under the current market price (which today is a lot harder to do). If your maxing your HSA and 401k I think you’re next logical step is buying that first house. 😁

      I don’t, the bank I use doesn’t have great rates. I could move 20-30k from cash into a high yield savings account but it wouldn’t net me much after taxes because of the tax bracket I’m in. So I’ve chosen just to miss out (which might be $500 a year) on that and hold more in cash.

      @@Lucrative_Luke makes sense. one more question, how do you accurately estimate the value of your properties? (e.g. do you look at what homes are selling for in their respective neighborhoods? and for vehicles, how do you calculate the appreciation/depreciation?)

    • @Lucrative_Luke
      @Lucrative_Luke 6 месяцев назад

      Usually use Zillow for houses. But I usually take 5% off of what Zillow says. It’s kinda a combination of watching houses in the neighborhood and Zillow estimate. Also I have a question that puts them up 2% in value per year but that’s usually not fast enough. Cars just just use Kelly blue book and update once every 6-12 months. The main thing I try and do is keep things constant and reflective of my actual situation today.

      @Lucrative_Luke 6 месяцев назад

      Honestly it’s just speed for me. It might take me 2-3 days to sell money markets in fidelity and transfer funds back into my checking account. But the peace of mind knowing I can weather a difficult time or an urgent situation is worth more value than the $500 a year for me. Now if I had like 100k in cash I would for sure put it in a money market and not a checking an account. Last note, sometimes I find dirt cheap real estate (houses like 20-40k) and it helps me to show proof of funds in my checking account vs it being in a money market and having to explain taxes and everything to the sellers.
