Using the Jenny
Просмотров 1,2 тыс.3 года назад
Lots of questions come about regarding the Jenny bit from Cody's CNC. Well here it is surfacing a board before I cut and inlay. This bit leaves such a smooth finish and can go at a pretty good pace. It is now my go-to bit
Simple sign making with oramask

Just showing how I apply Oramask to a blank piece of wood before I carve it. The paint is applied and the mask is removed.
Totally love this!!! The inlay king!!
Are you going to make one?
@@cc4142 maybe!!!
It is really amazing I want to give you a beautiful information how to fix the vectors when ever you face any problem like the one of the beginner of the video Select all the vectors then do offset to outside by .3or .5 it is ok then do offest to inside
Send me an email bhlwoodworks@gmail.com and I’ll see if I can get u squared away
Thank you. Very helpful.
Thank you, cant wait to try it out.
Thankyou for the video
With male .05 being max depth (inside gap between pocket and male), is that enough gap to make it have a hollow sound when tapping on cutting block? Others say it should be closer to .02 when it comes to cutting blocks so no hollow sound when tapping. Non-cutting block inlays are good at .05. Your boards look real clean but have never seen any of your videos showing tapping on the inlay and am curious. Thank you!
I’ve stuck with the same depth for a while and have had no issues. I have actually changed some settings and need to do an updated video. 😊
Chad I have watched this wolf video and I have not been able to figure the start but I see you use a ball endmill with a 6.2 taper and you call it a vbit. so you do not use the rad but that is not going to give a true dia. my males always come small i had to change my start depth to .05 and my finish depth of .150 and it fits pretty close. so where am i going wrong. and I would love to see your pneumatic press Marcel deman
I do use the 12.4 tbn entered as a v bit. The tip has such a small radius it essentially comes to a point. Feel free to email me with any questions bhlwoodworks@gmail.com
Chad. When you are machining the inlay after gluing. Are you using a downcut bit, To reduce the chance of chip out. By the way, enjoyed the video thanks
Yes. Always have to be careful not to lose what’s already there
Very Nice I am just starting to learn the Inlays How deep should i be going on a Engrain Cutting board I use Carveco
I usually go .2 to .25 depending on intricacy
Great stuff
Can you share a picture with me of what your press looks like please?
I have since moved on from the press. I am now using a vacuum bag
Love this tutorial! New sub for you 😊
I appreciate the video. The audio was off for me too. I had to just look away and listen while taking notes on the start depths and max depth passes for the male plug. This is the portion of inlays that I'm struggling with and will try your settings now.
Great stuff Chad
Thank you sir
Very Cool Chad, lot of work goes into those! 10+
Nice job sir
Sweet inlay, love the show and wood be a great piece in the house!
Hi Chad. Thank you for a comprehensive yet easy to follow instructional video. One thing that puzzles me - do you not need to reduce the size of the male part so that it fits snugly into the female?
No because it’s a v carve inlay.
Nice summary, great end product
Great work! Love it. Have to try something similar.
if i want to cheat the machine using a 5 degrees tapered ball nose end mill so i can get more detail how i can turn this too into a v-carv tool
Hi i have a doubt, you are doing both carving on the same side so if i want to make it fit perfectly one of the vectors should backwards right ?
Yes the male is mirrored then carved
Looks great. Roughing pass First, tool change, then do the vbit? Do you find this gives better results compared to vbit first then clean up?
It depends on the design. If there are a lot of details, I will do the v bit first to make sure the fibers have support
@@chadbookman1382 do you do it all as one job, or break it down into separate Gcode files? Again- depends on length of job, right?
Absolutely amazing tutorial- definitely pushed me into buying this software!
The software is great for sure.
Great info. Thanks! Would be interested to see your press. Also, have you used a vacuum bag?
I am going to get around to doing a video on my press. I have not tried a vacuum bag. I wasn’t sure of the durability
Can you share how youafe your press?
Shoot me an email bhlwoodworks@gmail.com
What tooling are you using? I’m amazed the tiny stuff doesn’t chip out.
I am using a 12.4 tbn entered as a vbit
@@chadbookman1382 can you share a link to the bit? Thanks for the reply Chad!
@@jackwagonww amana 46473
@@chadbookman1382 thank you so much. I found a similar one for almost $20 cheaper from Bits Bits. (*Astra Coated* 1/32 Ball 6.2 Degree - 3 Flute Taper CNC Router Carving Bit)
@@jackwagonww not sure that will work as well but by all means it’s worth a shot. That tip is .032 and the tip I use is .009
I found this vid is not really for the new Cnc or Carveco user. I’m sure the info is helpful to a more developed group. But thanks for sharing
I appreciate your comment but when I made this video, I was new to Carveco. As a matter of fact I have only been using Carveco for a year and thought it would be helpful
Great work, do you have a copy of the SVG?
Audio is off by over 2 minutes. Too confusing to see what you are doing but hearing something totally different.
not sure where the audio issue is...it might just be youtube but on my end its fine
Weird. I watched your newer video. Great job! I appreciate the tutorial.
Cracking inlay as usual Chad 👍
Amazing detail
Very nice Video. Are This depth also Working with 10 and 20 degree Bits?
I’m doing the female part right now and I notice the bit is coming up and out at the edges is that normal ?
Yes that is the v bit giving u crisp sharp corners
Thanks for the quick response 👍😀
finally a great video thanks so much
I read that your going to make some new videos can you please fix the audio so it follows with the steps tour doing in the video please it’s very confusing for me. I am trying really hard to follow but can’t. Other than that this would really help me if I could follow thanks 👍
Not sure about audio issues currently. You would be the first to mention that. I will make sure in future videos that it is good
@@chadbookman1382 sorry it must’ve just been on my phone because when I watched it on my computer it was fine.
When I do the inlay, the pieces dont fit. I'm using Amana 45780.
That bit has a flat tip. I use the amana 46473 (12.4) or the amana 45611 (15)
What bit do you use
1/8" em and 12.4 tbn
Do you use the same parameters regardless of bit angle? Obviously less detail vectors, but does same number add up if 90 or 60 degree bits were used?
I use the same bits every time. I haven't used a 60 or 90 for this process so I couldn''t tell you specifically
Thanks nice video
Appreciate the videos, they help me a lot. Why run multiple toolpaths for the carves rather than adjusting the stepdown for a single path? I seem to be missing something.
My previous machine would not handle .25 at one time hence the multiple toolpaths. My new machine handles it with ease. I will have some videos soon
Thanks for adding this video. It is great to see one of the most convenient tools in Maker being used for a very practical purpose. Everyone puts some kind of holes into their wasteboard weather it is for threaded inserts or dog holes or both. This tool can save you time and make things more accurate which is what we are all looking for!!
Hi! Sir what is the tickness of the plug? just .05 ich? tanks a lot and good work
No it’s .2
I dont understand the start depth...why 1.5
@@ghislainlatulippe6959 the total of 1.5 and .05 is .2. That’s how Carveco has to do it since there is no flat depth option
its actually.15 start and finish of .05
Nice👍
Had to come back and watch this again. It’s just that impressive!
Any chance of bleeding?
I didn’t have any that I saw.
What is the bit that you are using? How long between coats? Any specific paint?
Amana 90 deg v for the cut. Just used spray paint from Lowe’s. 2 coats about 15 min apart
I am already sharing your videos on Twitter. Reese
Thanks Dave!
