Few cities have such vessels. Such large ships being thrown about like bobbing corks yet they take the rough ride in their stride. This isn't an international service - it is part of Sydney's metropolitan public transport and us Sydneysiders have something that Melburnians will only ever enjoy whilst on a holiday. World-famous, iconic and perfectly safe.

For a long time, Manly ferries would run a cruise to Broken Bay and back on Sunday afternoons. At least once, this duty was performed by the Kooleen - probably much to the disappointment of the passengers,

Most of the Manly Ferries were built in Australia., Freshwater Class in Newcastle and B Class ie Baragoola, North Head, and Bellubera and others were all constructed in Sydney.. Dee Why, Curl Curl and South Steyne were made in the UK. Just saying

Really neat timelapse. So hard to imagine not having the Northcott on the F1, she was a lovely vessel to ride, despite being quite cramped at times. The Emeralds just aren't up to it.

I love the way the Freshwaters power through all that and give the passengers the ride of a lifetime...then on the way back from Manly to Sydney, you enjoy it again. Unlike the pathetic Emeralds. I've been on all 4 Freshwaters. I wouldn't feel safe in the 'cheapies', the Emeralds. Those who side with the Emeralds must be pathetic died in the wool misinformed state Liberal government supporters. I don't vote Labor either. I just love the real Manly ferries, the Freshwater. The idiot/s who commissioned the Emeralds seriously need to aquire that thing called a brain. Talk about a waste of money, and false economy.

I did that crossing in March 2018 . Calmer waters . Had hoped bit waves , bit more excitement .But was great .
