WARNING. Bitter Zucchini Could Be TOXIC!
Do u know of placing meat on a certain metal to increase the defrosting and second what if I’m doing a stew , can I just drop the frozen meat in a slow cooker?
Hey Joe. I would advise against defrosting on metal. The safest way to defrost meat is in the fridge. Just take it out of the freezer and move to the fridge the day before you need to use the meat. Kinda the same story with the slow cooker, it will stay in the danger zone for too long and potentially become a pot of bacteria. If you're in a hurry, you can use the cold water method: Keep the meat in its sealed package or put it in a leak-proof plastic bag. Submerge in cold tap water, changing the water every 30 minutes to keep the water cold enough. Small packages can thaw in about an hour, while 3-4 pound packages may take 2-3 hours. Cook immediately after thawing.
Hi, are the pea sprouts the same risk?
Good news - Pea sprouts are actually safer than bean sprouts! They grow in cooler temperatures, which means fewer hiding spots for nasty bacteria. But always give them a good wash just to be safe!
I've learned nothing.
Thank you🤗 I bought a big block from Costco as it was cheaper than buying it from SAINS/Morrisons/Asda etc and needed to know how to freeze it👍🏾 3rd January 2025🇬🇧🇯🇲
You're welcome! Glad the video helped! P.S Costco crew also! Never skip the hot dog....
I’ve had enough bitter zucchini from grocery stores whether labeled organic or not. Is there a way to visually tell before buying? I haven’t been able to tell beforehand at all.
😅 Sorry to say, there's no sure fire way to tell. Although smaller ones generally are better (under 8 inches) and avoid picking ones with yellow spots. The more spots - the older it is!
Well I just ate a tune 5 days opened in refrigerator at canned..there was no smell...mold I didn't care. Let's see if I survive the night..
Day 6 defrosted lamb in vacuum sealed pack.. should I toss or cook? 2lbs shank
Toss it! Day 6 is really pushing it for defrosted lamb. It's better to be safe than sorry-you don't want to ruin your weekend!
Thank you!!! Very helpful information. Valuable.
Thanks Ty! Hope the freezer storage is going well 😊
@TheFoodSafetyDad yes indeed. Thank you very much! I have a question, once frozen spaghetti with meat sauce has been defrosted, how soon must I eat it?
@@ty-tybullardstarks8183 Hey Ty. Happy new year! You should eat it within 3 days if you thawed it in the refrigerator. If you let it thaw at room temp, or in cold water - you should gobble it up straight away!
@@TheFoodSafetyDad Thanks a bunch! Knowing this helps a lot!
@@TheFoodSafetyDad Still trying to get through all your videos. Your videos never disappoint. 👏👏 Wishing you much success!! 😊

Love that, thanks for the support!
Awesome! Thanks 😊 I just had to toss a bunch of canned tuna from 2018 (yes, I’m purging the house)
The title of this presentation is, "How Long Does Canned Tuna REALLY Last". So. How about answering the question?
I ate a can of tuna that was over 30 years old on a bet. It was a bit soft, but perfectly fine.
0:09 this guy is a genius, what are you going to teach us next, that leaving opened unrefrigerated raw eggs and milk will spoil? Get you sick? To not stick a fork on a 110v socket? If you jump off a building you will breake bones and most likely die? If you swim out of a shark cage with sharks aggressively feeding they might bite you? That if you drink water thru your nose you will drown? That fire is hot and burn? That if you live in alaska or siberia and sleep outside in the winter you are gonna freeze and get eaten by bears or tigers? That if you murder somebody you will go to jail?
I’m a dad in rural Alaska and we’ve always kept a three month store of food in the event of an earthquake or other emergency and in all seriousness I was interested in how long a can of tuna was going to last on the shelf provided it was kept in a stable room temperature?
Unopened, any canned food is really quite amazing how long it'll last. At least 10 years I'd guess, like he says too, your nose will let you know, hehe
Hey Ben! Canned tuna can actually last way longer than most people think! As long as you keep it in a cool, dark place without temperature swings (as you said), and the cans aren't dented or rusty, you're looking at 5+ years of shelf life. Just keep an eye on those cans - no bulging or leaking, and you're good to go. If you do want to be a bit savvy, you can try rotating the stock out here and there. Use the food from the emergency stash and replace with new!
@ Fantastic thank you- yes I do rotate my stock, as an additional note the only canned food I’ve ever had not be as good as new is brown bread after third year it will dry and become harder and near impossible to remove it from the can- but perfectly edible
Once i open a can of tuna it's as good as gone!! 🍽️
🤣 SNAP!
Love this info❤ thx was looking for this
I have to eat it every day
It's like a school day each day because I never knew that. No more wasting them. Thank you

@@TheFoodSafetyDad Thank you! Whenever we freeze food, frost/ice seems to be on the food when we open the container. Is this something to worry about? Thank you
No its not a concern at all, its completly normal - don't sweat!
