This video is for the ignorant. So you use electricity to get hydrogen and oxygen and then you combine them back in a fuel cell to fet electricity back. Really, and the energy it took to move the car and inefficiency on any ststem did not use any energy? This a ridiculous concept for anyone that has any knowledge of basic physics or chemistry. Efficiencywise, it must be terrible. You need to multiply the efficienci of water hydrolysis x efficiency of fuel cell stack; 0.6x0.7= 0.42 (42%). If you use just pure ev, it would be higher than 90%.

Same underlying problem as the Hydrogen ICE engine --> trying to save the low efficiency internal combustion engine tech by using alternative fuels that are marketed to combust cleaner than using hydrocarbon fuel directly but are mainly produced from Hydrocarbons and that production is anything but clean. "Green" production of these alternative fuels is possible but far less efficient than the production from hydrocarbons thus far more expensive and only a very low percentage of the annually worldwide produced 250 million metric tons of Ammonia comes from "green" sources.

According to my brainstorm, both hydrogen & oxygen is produced in electrolysis. So basically both gases that are released are explsive together. But when it is combusted it regenerate water in the form of vapor. This water vapor can be recondensed back & full back the water electrolysis tank.. but the issue is getting good anodes for this. Platinum can be reused for years without being replaced, can also use metal oxide electrode, but don't know if it would last long. Best electrolyte to use is sodium hydroxide because it doesn't get lost from inside the tank, however the tank need to be resistant to NaOH in hot temperature. This maybe effective as long as it produce more power then it use for kenetic energy, electrolysis & spark plugs.

Energy density and cycle life is what is important.

I don't think this will happen. If the energy density is half, then doubling compression might be required which means even tighter tolerances and seals. And if any ammonia is not fully burned or leaks it is extremely toxic. Also, the byproduct of burning ammonia is potentially even worse than current petroleum ICE engines. I would say they might have some sort of different catalytic converter that may offset this problem but I have not heard of one yet. I like the idea of the hydrogen on demand engine theories better. They are engines that run on hydrogen but do not store it. Basically when you need the car to go and you press the accellerator the engine creates the exact amount of hydrogen required and it is immediately burned to create propulsion of the vehicle. This also has a lot of hurdles to overcome. It is certainly an exciting time for innovation. The more options the better until we find one that is close to perfect.
