The more I rewatch Rumplestiltskin in scenes like these, the more I realize how many accents he goes through for practically every syllable, if not every letter, out of his mouth. One second he’s Scottish, one he’s British, another he’s Irish. Sometimes he slurs, other times he’s very eloquent. And don’t even get me started on the different pitches of his voice at random times. Sometimes he sounds like Mr Gold (Robert Carlyle) other times he sounds.....higher? I guess.

They're both the best on the show . They play three different personalities. He plays the Rumple the town coward, The dark one and Mr. Gold . She plays Innocent Regina, The Evil Queen and Mayor Mills.

*spoilers* So... this scene makes me wonder about a couple things. I feel like there's this whole section of history that we're still missing on this show. At some point between Cora's betrayal of Rumple and this scene, the two of them fought. Which, according to Rumple, he "won in the end," despite it supposedly being a close call. Also, apparently Rumple actually met Regina, either as an infant or a small child. Am I the only one who's really curious to know exactly what happened between Rumple and the royal family during this particular time frame? They allude to some of it, but they've never specifically shown us anything, and we're already on season 6. Also thought I would mention, they never explain when Rumple gave Cora the spellbook, either, do they? Did he give it to her before she got married and just not touch on it? Seriously, I'm curious.
I agree that it isn't too hard to imagine. It just seemed to me that the show alluded to something a little bit bigger earlier on, and never really expanded on it. Both in regard to Regina and Cora. Not to mention the only glimpse of the past between Rumple and Cora that we get is in "The Miller's Daughter," and as much as I love that episode, I might have liked a little more expansion on their history. There's potentially a lot that happened that we don't know about.
The show alluded to alot of things but the writers were too busy trying to please twitter stans and in the process created a show full of retcons. Hope this answers your question

I personally think Lana is the best actress on the show. She portrays two completely different personalities so perfectly - the evil queen and her younger/innocent self. Ginnifer (Snow) is also an amazing actress, but she can't portray as wide a range of characters. I don't want to give anything away, but for those that know what I'm talking about I thought her particular performance in the 4th season was very forced and awkward.
