I don't know how the real Christine Jorgensen didn't sue the producers of this rotten egg of a film. It's the worst movie ever, along the lines of something Ed Wood would have made. Even though people were not politically correct in 1953, I can't believe that the reporters would have been so crass and sarcastic. As for the actor, he was way too masculine looking to play Christine. What horrible casting. And finally, why can't they even get the styles right? Everyone is dressed in 60's fashions.

I first saw it in a class I took called Sex and Gender in Anthropology. So rest assured, professors ARE assigning it. lol

I read the review of this film when I was 11 (!) and I still remember the writer's main problem with it: "The actor looks more feminine playing George than he does afterward as Christine." 8-D

You're right, and that's a nice compliment; Joan typically had such a sophisticated, lovely voice, as does Christine. I love the way they talk!
