To be fair, you have to have a very high IQ to understand Hiroyuki Sawano. The production is extremely subtle, and without a solid grasp of musical theory, most of the nuance will go over a typical listener's head. There's also Sawano's positivist outlook, which is deftly woven into his music - his personal philosophy draws heavily from Ryuichi Sakamoto music, for instance. The fans understand this stuff; they have the intellectual capacity to truly appreciate the depths of these music, to realize that they're not just amazing- they say something deep about LIFE. As a consequence people who dislike Hiroyuki Sawano truly ARE idiots- of course they wouldn't appreciate, for instance, the arrangement in Sawano's song title "YouSeeBIGGIRL/T:T," which itself is a cryptic reference to Isayama's Japanese manga Attack on Titan. I'm smirking right now just imagining one of those addlepated simpletons scratching their heads in confusion as Hiroyuki Sawano's genius unfolds itself on their headphones. What fools... how I pity them. 😂 And yes by the way, I DO have a Hiroyuki Sawano tattoo. And no, you cannot see it.
