The poor man’s Ferrari.
I have a framed picture of a 1987 IROC Z28.
Dig the gold paint.
Always wanted one, didn't happen
My personal favorite years/platform of this car (for my own nostalgia). 👍🏼🇨🇦
My parents had a 81 z. I remember it had the best sounding exhaust. It exploded when it first fired up. Boom! blub, blub, blub.
Best video on here straight and simple thanks bro
Thanks for the compliment! I'm not much for production, just explain it and be done with it!
Love Camaros but I’m starting to believe they are not for me. This is why. I started with a 95 Z28 back in my late teens that was repossessed (by my father) due to in appropriate driving, LOL. Few years after I purchased an 87 IROC that I modified and put over 5k into. Lots of money at the time but soon after the car was stolen and stripped to the bone. Few years after I purchased a 96 Z28 since I had unfinished teenage business with this model. 2 days after purchase the engine blew and I set it aside to save money for a new motor. Started going through a financial hardship and the car sat for a few years until I decided to give up and sell as is. Few years later my finances got a lot better and decided to purchase a clean almost new looking C5 corvette. This is my baby and it still sits in my garage and comes out on the weekend, been doing this for years with the C5 but my itch and love for a Camaro is still here. I finally decided to purchase a brand new from the dealership build my Camaro SS1LE that took months to build and deliver. This was a 2022 build that was delivered in March and almost one year after it was stolen from my driveway and never recovered. At this point I gave up with Camaros, my wife told me that I was cursed and should stay away from Camaros and stick to corvettes. I know corvettes are superior cars but Camaros still have a place in my heart. Not sure if I’ll ever buy another one since I believe in the curse now. I have a short video of my Camaro and corvette on my RUclips. Unfortunately the Camaro is gone.
Why couldn’t the model Camaro look like this i would have bought one. I never liked the 60s style in which it was based on.
In 1983 I bought a Z-28 H. O. 5.0 5 speed. Excellent car. I kept it two years. Traded it in for the IROC-Z in 1985. Kept the IROC for 12 years.
does it harm plastics, glass, head and taillights , piano black panels ?
I have a 78 with the 4sp. Faster than the corvette and mustang
I want one.
Lloyd Bridges ! 😂
Not fast, not made of high quality materials, not durable, etc…but it was all about looks and having fun with the car. Most Americans then made a living wage and did not need a car to last 20 years nor did they make car payments for 84 months. It was the right car for the time.
68 D90 my favorite also what’s on my car
I bought a 1974 Type LT Camaro brand new from a local dealership for $4,600. It came stock with the 350 c.i. engine, turbo hydromatic 350 transmission, 4 bbl Quadrajet carb, and factory dual exhaust. It drove, handled, and performed like a dream - nothing at all like the car shown. BTW this is an OLD video and I first saw it at least several years ago, and I question whether the car shown is even new and not already used and abused. The '74 LT Camaro that I'm familiar with outperformed all other 1974 American cars in its class in every respect except for the Corvette. The car in this grossly misleading video was obviously a stripped down base model with the weakest of V8 engines being offered and the skinniest low-cost tires as well, calling into question why anyone would place any stock in the validity of such a meaningless performance evaluation of the budget version that most folks would not select except for "luxury touring" (LT). I question other nonsense stated such as "coil spring rear suspension" when mine was leaf spring. This is a lame video and laughably irrelevant as it does not fairly represent the car's REAL ability and potential beyond the el-cheapo budget version. BTW I drove from MD to FL & back twice and got over 20 MPG all the way even with the AC on. Sold it for $1,500 after 10 years and 186,000 miles. Epic fail, "Camaro Historian."
Well, I think these old vids are fairly spot on. You having a 4 bbl would wake that Camaro up a heap, to maybe 245hp? Though 245hp was the z28 350 motor. Note that these reviews are being done by racing drivers, pushing cars to their limit around a track. Most drivers aren't taking their cars 60mph into turns to see how their suspension handles. Also back then depending on what tires you had may add to the driving experience. As you'd know, 74 was a year of the oil crisis, demand went up for fuel economy, performance cars took a hit in sales.
I am a hot 72 year old lesbian and I have a white 2014 Z28. Young ladies like that I drive it.
Peace
I have a 2023. I miss my 95. So much tech hand holding in modern cars.
@@jtkrpm1 Same, i miss my old 95 and am determined to find another like it. Its just been a tough combo to find. But i look just about everyday.
I kept away from the 4th gen Camaro horrible body style not my cup of T 👎
Wasn't the fastest Camaro made, but it sure did look good!
We're leaving Monday for Orange Beach AL, can't wait to see the jets
I thought it was ugly then and guess what? it's still UGLY
This was the 80's. These years will never come back...
Sexy 80's cars n women
Cheezy theme song, big hair, and archery in a one piece swimsuit was pure 80s but nothing prepared me for the shot of the manual transmission.
Everyone knows the best 4th Gen Camaro is a Trans Am
Thanks for uploading. When I was 18, I had silver '75 Type LT with dual exhaust. Loved that car! Lots of fun memories!
Great yes
sucks they only had 2 horsepower lol
Car and Driver tried to do a long term test on one. They honestly reported the number of serious failures. GM forcibly took it back from them halfway through the test.
Maybe some forgot: You could build these into something hot. But just off the lot, They did not hit the spot.
Buick Motor Division and Oldsmobile Division was supposed to get their own versions of the 2nd generation F-Body, but GM shelved the plan because they felt it would have affected the sales of the Chevrolet Camaro and Pontiac Firebird. There were Buick and Oldsmobile F-Body prototypes, but they were scrapped. It would have been interesting
Black 97 SS SLP 6 speed owner here . With 59,000 miles. 🇺🇸🏁🏁🏁🏁
I just turned 18 and bought the same car, but blue in color back in 1980. I paid 500 bucks for it from an elderly lady at an apartment complex where I worked helping my older brother mow lawn and maintain the grounds. The following year I bought the same year Pontiac Firebird from another tenant for 1300 bucks. I drove both cars for several years and sold them for double of what I paid for them. Wish I still had both cars today.
By far the best F body 1978-81... I'd love to have a 305 in a Camaro again
That’s Lloyd Bridges and his daughter Lucinda.
1990 Camaro IROC…..strike year so low production, last year for IROC so low numbers built, With 5.7 L98 engine and RPO codes G80 G92 J65 THEN highly optioned group 3….. Red was the most popular color that year, black interior was most popular Rare options are engine block heater…..Bose sound with CD player….. All 5.7 came with hard tops not T tops.
Had one!
Thank you, you’re the only video that had these taillights that wasn’t doing a whole taillight swap. Appreciate it. Bulb Model: 921
Great car. Terrible advertising. Talking about its road abilities while driving on the beach?
No that is not the sound of stock, its the same old crap as Chevelles, GTOS, Panteras, with a ford V8, The original mufflers of 74-81 Z28s were very refined, very small, just a very slight hint of uniform smooth power under the hood. Low enough to not wake the neighbors when returning their daughter home at 2am in the morning. This is just your old man, more is better, BS.
Thanks for sharing this bit of Camaro History. I bought a brand new 84 Z28 5.0 H.O. with a 5 speed Borg Warner T5. I absolutely loved everything about that car. Had it for 5 years. Red with dark grey premium interior. Fast car in it's day. Beat a lot of 5.0 mustangs and surprised a lot of other guys too.
The crookedcross 71
Not enough love for the LT1s. The LS fan boys are vocal but really don't know what they are talking about for the most part, IMO.
Ah, back in the day when you could park right next to the tennis court to show off your car and guard it from thieves. 😂
Pure Muscle Car goodness.
I've got 70 RS with original drivetrane (set to the side). Got it in 1990 and still love it❤
I was 7yrs old when i saw the new 85' iroc-z in the dealership showroom next to a corvette and i was in awe of its killer styling and looks....loved them ever since....GM couldnt have done better in how it looks
