Vision is my favorite

The Nelson episode is actually how I first heard about you and then when you said Vision was your favorite hero I was like “game on”. He’s also my favorite and very underrated

Moon girl has 1 hit point and devil dinosaur has 2 hit points. That’s the only way I see it. She’s the THW and DD is the ATK lol

I always thought the two consequential damage, in her case, was meant to represent her and Devil Dinosaur as a combined unit.

I personally really like her, what better than having 1 nick fury? 2 Nick Fury’s! Which she basically is, I am always considering her when I play a genius/champion character.

Talk about a card worthy of discussion. Being around long enough to see it able to draw infinite cards to only three, her power level has fluctuated a lot!

As far as Elite, all nemesis minions are elites and minions that pace a scenario (like prelates or hela’s guardians) are elites. There may be a random one or two other cases, but that general rule covers most elite minions

I love the discussion around types of players. It makes me think of the Magic R&D article about their three types of players: Timmy, Spike, and Johnny. And it felt very similar to what y’all mentioned. There’s the efficiency/tournament style player, the player who wants to feel thematic and fun, and the player who just wants to do big plays. I have a friend who only wants to do hulk, and it’s perfect for him. No setup and big actions. We have fun with him playing Hulk. It’s important to see (and for deck builders, to consider) all of those types of players. I love that designers give cards that can hit all those types of players

Excellent episode! Huge fan of andyr's decks: usually have at least one prepped and ready to go in my to-play box. The entire time listening, I kept wondering why you weren't talking about how good this card would be against Zola and other villain attachments, and then I realized the card read UPGRADE. Ah, well: there are worse ways to spend an hour than misinformed deckbuilding in my head...

As much as having more cards with twin options on would be cool and awesome for the well established gamer, it would really hamper the newer members. Yeah, small power loss (for damage) for versatility for a 3x qty card. I still like it a lot. In MPer, play Ag or Ju and make a deal with your gaming partner to play 2x your aspect generators - one of which goes to the other player. :) Don't forget Ms Marvel can buff her own thwart card 'Sneak By' to 5 using 'Shrink'. But great review and great chatter guys.

Totally agree that's it's not an "auto include" etc. Like ALL "pain cards", I reckon you gotta "make it WORK for you". Using it at a very basic level is not enough. Sure anyone can 'act once per rnd and get a use from a +1 stat', but that and a +1 hand-size is (imo) not worth a 'hazard icon'. Readying 3 times and having one of those thwart actions getting an 'Overwatch' duplication and now your getting +5 stat points as well as the card draw - and you are "in the realm" of winning value. Note: Sure the "average encounter" card doesn't do -1 each stat AND 10 damage....BUT this cost is 1 Encounter card PER TURN! So if you get hit for 6 damage each across 2 turns then you are now 2 health worse off. Would that be enough to carry you through to the win...maybe?

I typically play Multiplayer and I will say that I value Mental Paralysis a bit more when you can tag a minion engaged with another player that likes to flip down, ultimately stopping it from scheming as well. Still a situational card, but fun and thematic to pull off. For Mind Control, I've had similar experiences at the Con of Heroes last year where I MC'd a beefy sentinel and just kept him around nearly the whole game. I got tons of value out of that. I remember having to sacrifice some of the build-up, but these days with player side schemes allowing a team to fetch upgrades or supports, it's a bit easier to get out there. Speaking of Superpower Training, this is a legitimate target, right? Pretty solid value if timed correctly. Keep up the great work with episodes!

I have every hero with a deck constructed. I absolutely hate deconstructing a deck every time so I build a deck for each hero and make minor changes once in a while. It does limit my options but I prefer that over deconstructing. I already hate cleanup after a game. I have bought some single cards online to give me more options.

Great review & love the general chatter. You didn't get around to mentioning "at worst it is still 1 resource even with 0 minions". Not like 'Band together' with its "blank printed resources". So zero risk! Love the callout to 'speeding up play' doing your 'avengers mansions' during P1's turn even if your P3 etc. Unless you like offering it to others 🤣 I like to lay out my cards with allocated payments too - when possible - when I'm not 1st player. It's Co-op, I don't care if others see my allocations/cards! Having a bung arm means I prefer not to "hold" cards anyway LOL. And calling out any need/offering of those 'group resources' to the table before my turn. Our group has done some Intangible Collector Vision play too...great fun. Now we also have 'Shatterstar' as an option to help collect as opposed to 'Get over Here' an attack Vision isn't allowed to do.

All this Vision talk sure makes me want to play Shadowcat.

Venom is an s tier solo hero so I can see why LazyTitan doesn’t value it as highly in multiplayer. He seems to prefer heroes that can pump out huge numbers where as venom does a lot of little stuff but all at once.

When you factor Inside by side, this card is busted with Miss Marvel from Nova's pack because she can keep reoccurring side by side

I got into this game by mistake. I went to my Flgs to check out Marvel Crisis Protocol and they showed me this instead. 41/2 years later it's my most played game. Lockjaw was in Ms Marvel. Starhawk is great with Bishop for sure. 10+damage to end a few games, 21 vs Venom in theory. I've never got much use out of recursion with others but he's still a good option. If I ever play a Guardian in Protection I'll be sure to use him. I love SP//Dr recursion and this is the same really. So I'd say 9 with Bishop 6 elsewhere overall 8. I usually fast forward past art and fluff bits but wasn't paying attention today so I got to hear how he's a good thematic fit too! Vision is someone I have no interest in playing so next month sounds pretty dire :(

Ms Marvel was my favorite episode. She's probably the hero who sold me on Champions, and is one of the reasons I started reading comics more widely (after I fell in love with reading her early comic runs)

A little late to the game on this, but I really appreciated Leethus’ analysis of the card. When you’re flipping down to AE every other turn, having a guaranteed place to sink those extra resources is extremely valuable. Great guest.

My favorite episode is the one with the Brandt and you talk about bring it. Love that card myself 😊. Also a favorite is the repurpose episode, for selfish reasons (when I heard I won). I post it here again, because I posted it as a reaction on the comment of zachwild.

Boomguy, Kaiko, it was awesome getting to meet you guys. Kaiko, your X-23, Hulk, and Spider-Woman decks killed it!! And I can definitely second the sentiment of how worth it and how much fun it is even going and not knowing anyone. Everyone was so friendly and welcoming. That was a blast. It was supposed to be a one time thing for me but after the experience, I’m gonna start saving to go next time.

Beauty and the Thief if I have to pick one. I really liked the dive into alternate ideas of what to do with Alliance cards during the love month. I thought you three came up with intriguing design ideas.

Great episode as always. War Machine is one of my favorites even though he's not that strong. Gauntlet Gun is usually the main card I mulligan for, so I'm glad to see an episode for it. Annoying rulings aside, I still think it's prob the most crucial upgrade to play in his kit. As far as smoothing out his kit. I think 2 changes would have shot him over the moon. First, I think he needed some kind of event that let him flip down to Alter-ego (like Miles) so he could flip back up in the same turn. I would give up the second copy of Gauntlet Gun for an event like that. Second, I think Munitions Bunker would have been better if its alter-ego action was just an action and generated 1 ammo counter instead of 2. The Hero Action could be changed to a Hero Response to move all counters when you flip to hero form. This would let you keep building up counters even while in hero form.

Green Daredevil is great 2 thwart is great in Protection, and 2 cost is 2 cost. He's 3 hp which mitigates 2 consequential. I even used his ability once. Yellow one was never great he was just all we had. The way allies work wasn't well balanced and especially hurts expensive ones. That does not include ones that rebate their costs from Nick to Beast via Coulson as they are effectively cheaper.

The hero boosting game was fun. My take: honorable mention is Nebula who I don't think belongs in this group. Specifically her cards are very efficient which offsets the fact that they are tricky to match to what is needed right now. Valkyrie is exceptional at hacking down minions with what is a one cost ready. She has too many flaws to address - slightly expensive situational cards, dysfunctional defence cards, trap options, poor economy. The simplest first patch is to allow you to remove Death Glow in hero form. Another couple of qol power ups would be to give Piercing with her spear and to let her set up find Dragonfang. After that she'd be fine but her defense suite could do with a rework. She Hulk has too many bad cards and is very vulnerable to stun and tapping effects. Her resilience is great and maximising Gamma Slam is a fun mini game. I'd make one two punch work on any basic action including recovery - still worse than Limitless Stamina. Focused Rage would cost 2. I think they made it deal damage as sort of an upside but really it's just a struggle. I'd make her thwart cards (legal practice?) remove twice as much threat with a lower cap. I don't much care about the art in the game. I like a few and I'm indifferent to the vast majority. This is one of the few I think is pretty terrible. As a card it's fantastic fun and really opens up Protection. Not quite a 10 as it needs set up but a good 9.

To the question about MarvelCDB and deckbuilding - I think it begs a more fundamental question, which is whether deckbuilding is core to the game. I don't actually think it is - not for every player. Marvel Champions releases heroes in pre-made decks because not every player will want to build decks to play the game - the designers have talked about that before, and it's a conscious decision to keep the game accessible to players who don't deckbuild. I don't think there is anything at all wrong about a player asking if there are awesome decks built that they can play, because the deckbuilding might be a deterrent to their enjoyment of the game. I love deckbuilding, and I never use other players pre-built decks, at least not intentionally (though sometimes I like to read through for ideas and inspiration). But I know lots of folks who love the game but aren't interested in that. I think that's good for the game - so having a place the supports the players who love to build decks and do write-ups and articles that other plays can pull a great deck from to play and enjoy is not hurting anyone. Its only bad if we assume that every player should be a deckbuilder, and I just don't think that's the case! Interesting thoughts, though - and I love the question that prompted it - it would be a really helpful tool in Marvel CDB for it to track your cards so you can build a series of decks using a single card pool!
