In general, all of your heights are just slightly too high, but definitely much better than it has been in the past. You are currently decrescendoing in measure 128, when it is supposed to just be accent to tap. You played the accents in measure 129 on the “& a” of beat 2 at 12-” when they should be at 9”. You need to crescendo to 12” at the end of the buzz roll in measure 130, whereas right now you are getting to about 9-”. You need to play shots in measure 135 at 12” (you played them at 9-”). You need to play the downbeat of measure 142 at 4” (you played it at 6”). And you need to get taps down in the paradiddles in measure 144 (you are currently playing them at 6-”). I know these are a lot of details, but they all matter and make it much easier for us to balance and blend our sound with the people next to us.
I really need you to play not on a tilt. This trains your hands to work differently than what we are going for technique-wise. I believe I had said this once already earlier in the season, but you need to play on a flat surface. With that being said, I am going to ignore that your hands sound uneven at times because of the tilted surface. In general, your roll quality has gotten a lot better, but still just a bit too loud and a bit too heavy. This could also be because your drum pad is set a bit too low, causing your set position to be too high. While you don’t lose any beats, you definitely get slow and then correct yourself by speeding up, but this happens all throughout both reps of rolls. We just have to train your hands to not get slow in the first place and then you won’t need to adjust so much. Lastly, You played the first two beats at letter D wrong, which was one of the focuses of this assignment. You are currently only playing accents on beat 1 and 2, when the third triplet partial of beat 1 is also supposed to be accented.
