In brief , rumi wrote these words for his beloved friend And Mentor Shams Tabrezi who was faqeer, had all knowledge of Sufism,he was one of epithets of god , he knew everything but the problem was he was illiterate he couldn’t write and he made dua to allah how can i share all of my knowledge to this dunya than one day he saw a deam where allah gave him direction to go and when he choses to, there was a library where Romi was writing ,Shams tabrezi came and started talking to Rumi and told him what is he writing in which Rumi said You are far away to learn this .Rumi at that time was a well known person he had that attitude on him than Shams Tabrezi threw Some of Rumi’s book in water and when Rumi asked him why he did that Shams Tabrezi took out the books from water and Rumi was in shock when he saw all of the books were as it is there was not a single droplet on them, than Rumi asked Shams tabrezi how he did that in which Shams tabrezi replied “THIS IS SUFI YOU ARE FAR AWAY TO LEARN THIS” and then Rumi became a mureed of Tabrez shamsi and Tabrezi gave him the knowledge he was acknowledged with by Allah , they started living in jungle and people started talking about tabrezi that he has done black magic on Rumi , they threw Tabrezi away and Rumi stated becoming Crazy day by day and after 10 years somehow people managed to bring Shams tabrezi to Rumi then after they started living together and one day when people realised shams tabrezi is something they killed him and Rumi became mentally ill and then he wrote these lines for Shams tabrezi .check the last line in which rumi mentions “SHAMS TABREZI’s slave i am, like a qalandar , i whirl”.
