I think it wouldve been cool if they had Piccolo fight Majin Vegeta at some point and showed that Piccolo wasnt just sitting around doing nothing since cell attacked
My question is why was Piccolo able to keep his body when he died against Nappa. He lived a life bent on vengeance and world domination. Basically made a similar sacrifice as well.
Technically king piccolo and him are a different entity. Even though they're essentially the same DNA. I don't think "piccolo Jr" actually killed anyone. Other than raditz and a few saibamen. Then he sacrificed himself for gohan.

Super 17 will forever be one of my favorite antagonists in the series. I think he’s criminally slept on. Aside from being the fusion result of two versions of arguably one of the most liked androids ever with one literally having the power of hell in him, this dude showed up and without hardly a word leveled the city, sat all of the z fighters down and with no hesitation Killed his sister’s husband. This man wasn’t playing any games.
Real Japanese line from Piccolo after Vegeta died: "You've extinguished yourself.. For you to die, and leave nothing behind... A fitting end for the high pride of Vegeta... We have been saved by him, have we?"
Piccolos speech after vegetas sacrifice and ending it with calling Vegeta his friend speaks volume about the character’s development and their relationships with each other.

Since Piccolo can use his orange form, I'd want him to face Vegeta again in some sparring match. They were the coolest Z fighters and yet they never really fought each other. The inner monologue with Piccolo at the end, to me, was one of the most emotional parts of Dragon Ball. A former villain mentioning what it is like to give your life for a greater cause to another former villain.
Both Vegeta and Piccolo care for Gohan in their own way.
