No Laus/Lows/Lowes were in this area until 1796. Grand Mikey would have been only 5 years old in 1776. He was still in Pennsylvania in 1776 with his father Philip. He and Drewry Carroll were some of the "first white settlers" on Smokey Creek.

Hi, Scott County resident here Helenwood is rumored to be named after the large number of forest fires that happened in that area many years back as the name was what townsfolk called the area "Hell in wood" and the name just stuck.

Good use of ambient and specific sounds, and I really enjoy how your stories have roots in real life horror; the terrible things humans inflict on each other.

I really enjoyed the video! One addendum: Grand Mikey's clan is called Lowe like "Lau" not the common "Low". When I first saw a Lowe's store I was so excited and said "Look! a Laus!" Nobody knew what I was talking about.

Hi 👋. Scott County is very interesting! I just purchased some land on Smoky Creek! The property is all wooded and goes up the side of a mountain. There is a small pond halfway up with some large square posts in it. Looks like it could have been some type of platform years ago. I would love to learn more about what it might have been used for. Thanks for sharing these videos! 🙂
