Everyone says ff14 and eso for story . But why? Because of voice acting? Like lotro has waaaaay better lore and story IMO. You just gotta read text is all haha

Cant wait to play New World again! I played it at launch, but my PC just couldn't handle it. Now I get to play it on Xbox with my kids.

@@rashid2898 yeah there’s no question LOTRO has a lot of P2W elements. But the only reason that really matters in MMOs is PvP, which is pretty much nonexistent in LOTRO. So if you’re playing casually and wanting to experience the full journey/adventure, it’s kinda like… what would be the point of paying for boosts and stuff, ya know?
I really tried getting into it. Even bought a subscription. But the lag and the frame rate issues really turned me off to the game.
@@Kfo221 when did you last play? They just recently introduced some 64 but servers that have really helped with the lag

There's a lore reason for most farmers being young female in starter human areas: the male inhabitants are usually drafted as soldiers to fight centaurs or joining bandits groups, while older women have to look after kids. I made this up? yes. but I still find it a good explanation 😆

I actually prefer GW2s skill system over GW1. I like 1-5 being related to the weapons equipped. It gives some consistency; especially in PvP where you have an idea of what an opponent can do based on equipped weapons. There is still a ton that goes into GW2 builds beyond the weapon skills (some may say too much; I always had to just use build guides to get them right). If you were not aware as well the the instanced PvP modes lets you build anything you want to try out and gives the gar/spec points to do it. Really good way to try some stuff out to get a feel for different builds.
i respect it... but man, I loved the Guild Wars 1 combat skill customization lol. Maybe if i invest some more time into GW2 it will grow on me!
Some mention might be made of the incidental music, which ranges from pretty good to first-rate. Turning music off misses part of the fun.
@@majkus it won’t be in the next video (since I’m reviewing a “new” MMO), but one of my kinship members invited me to one of his live concerts and some of us were able to sync up our dancing while watching. It was awesome!
I've played the game non stop for months on launch and returned over the years. I sold my pc a year back and went back to console so I'm excited to start fresh and help new players. One thing I miss that I don't think you touched on was the early server territory battles and wars. Early NW wars were some of the most fun I've had while gaming. Joining a faction and picking a clan and getting selected for wars as a top dps mage was a highlight for me. Also you made a great video and I dig the positivity surrounding the game. Definitely earned a sub. Nice job.
@@Zpurggg no for sure. It was a lot of fun. The PROBLEM is that wars have been Min/Maxed to the tee and are now dominated by a small percentage of the community. The top war companies have taken it so far as to own multiple accounts and companies on different servers, slot all the top-tier players in all their wars, and they legit have war strategy trainings for all the participants. And even though it’ll be Fresh Start, they’ll be maxed level with BIS gear within a few days. The governors and leaders of the companies monopolize a huge percentage of the coin in New World AND they sell it irl for real money. So it’s not just “a game” for them. It’s a part-time business.
I picked it up a few times because it's one of my cousin's favorite games. He's been playing since it launched. And though I do love the environment, the music, the charm... I just can't seem to get into it. I think it's too overwhelming for me. Last time, I started as a Hobbit and I got as far as Bree before I stopped playing. Yet when I see video's like these, I really do want to try and jump into it again to give it another chance. If anyone has any tips on how to approach this huge chunk of an MMO (or any MMO for that matter), feel free to leave a comment please
@@FBWL-u1r hey thanks for watching the video and leaving a thoughtful response :). My advice would be to just take it one day (or play session) at a time. Don’t get hung up on reaching max level or the end game as fast as you can. There IS a ton of content, but just start exploring and chipping away a couple hours at a time. If you’re consistent with it, you’ll find that the game starts to unfold for you. Joining a friendly Kinship is helpful as well! Keep me updated on your progress!

@@wsbarth92 I made this months ago so I’m not the same NW advocate as I once was. Usually people participate in FSS for the community and hype. Even if you don’t want to sink hundreds of hours into the game again, just playing for a week or two with all the new players is exciting
@Z-MACx fair points. thanks for the response. I am still hype for the changes. At least to check out how the game feels. But 0% interested in maxing everything again 😅
@@wsbarth92 exactly 😂. I do think people will be surprised on “relaunch” day when all the NW players come out of the woodwork in addition to some new console players. I wouldn’t be surprised if it reaches 100k concurrent. People say they “hate” this game, but deep down people love it they’re just disappointed with the poor management and development (which is understandable). AGS has dropped the ball more times than we can count. It’ll be interesting to see what happens!

Just a message for anyone watching after August 2024, the Before the Shadow expansion has been made free to everyone, so the more modern starting experience is available to all if that’s what you’re looking for
16:10 i think its because before as a f2p the mount were temporary. When i watched Josh Strife Hayes review on this game a while back the mount wasn't permanent unless you paid thats prob why it asks if you are sure cause its back when it was a temporary mount. Don't hold me to this im like 60% sure of this
Guys, Im just wondering, is LOTRO promoting and paying these youtubers for these kinds of videos? Ive seen like 10 videos from last months about how Lotro is Worth it and Im wondering if it is paid or these guys just love Lotro (anyways Im glad it is still alive!)

So fun to watch you explore middle earth and the story line! Take your time in the game, watch the scenery and listen to the npc banter. There is a lot of hilarious moments in the game that is not part of anything. Shire is one of the best in that regards where you among other things can witness a proposal and a kayaking hobbit! Even many of the humanoid mobs you are about to kill have good banter, if you stay just outside of agro range and listen to them :)

Playing for 3 weeks now, made 20+ characters, had to delete them because of undying, now i have 5, and getting my 3rd undying soon! I just want to get all the classes im interest in to 30 then decide my main from there! Such a good game, way better than hand holdy mmo's nowadays.
@@KOBEASTXIV I love that! Dude…. Spoiler alert. I made it to 20 without dying but then end up dying at level 22 or 23. I was actually really sad about it 😭. Wanted to see if I could make it even further

Still lovin these videos man! This game hasn't been given it's due attention; always a pleasure to see talented people giving it spotlight. I played when it launched back in the day and ran a guild, still have friends to this day that I made on this game. Truly feel like there are a ton of LOTR fans out there that would fall in love with this game, if they knew about it. Thumbs up my man! Looking forward to this channels inevitable success! Also, if you choose the other tutorial area (When creating a character) the initial storyline gives you a ton of context for who Amdir is; and you get to meet and interact with him a bunch. I won't ruin it for you but I highly recommend doing this with another character. The newer area is both contextually and visually amazing. The quest rewards are far and above the older ones too.
Amdir is mostly in the Man/Hobbit intro, no?

Hey mate. All starting zones have stables that are connected to all major cities - Swift Travel/instant travel so you can switch the zone and level somewhere else for example. Most of the stables you see on the map must be discovered first in order to be used, unless there's some specific quest that allows you to ride without unlocking. You have 2 types of travels with a horse; swift travel and normal riding which allows to look at your character while riding normal in automatic mode to the destination. You can also cancel the riding and be on your own, if you wish. Bree is the most connected hub from all cities because they have 2 stables - West and South. West Bree stables will take you to the northern regions while South Bree leads to the southern regions. Both needs to be unlocked first. When you visit new place and you see a stable master always speak with them to unlock the stable.

You can take a swift travel ride from Celondim or from Frerin's Court at Thorin's Hall to Bree, but of course manually riding there is the legit way. 😎 Loving these, bro.

Just went VIP with the wife, we've just got out first legendaries and assaulting Moria.
I started a new account 2 days ago and found it was so much more fun this time vs. last time I played years ago. I'm not sure why... probably because I was able to get a basic mount quite early in the game and the lore is just great. It's still a button smasher but the game overall has great stories, good animations, and funny characters. The events too are also very cool. By far the most outstanding aspects of the game are the immersive locations and the seriously amazing musical score.

Why am I getting so many video recommendations for LOTRO? I'm sorry but this shit looks ass. I'm not into RP like at all, and that seems to be the only selling point. Tried it way back and combat was ass, game felt jank. I did hear rumblings about them redoing the whole game of some kind but haven't heard anything since. If it gets redone I will give it another go.
LOTRO is old tech and if you have a high resolution monitor IT SHOWS ... can't get the UI usable unless I go back to 2K which sucks for a 5K2K monitor.
