OK, I am so shocked that I am the first person to comment. I just wanna thank you so so much for this very thorough description of how you schedule Ambleside!!!!!!!! I have been watching so many other videos and trying to figure out how to schedule it out with my three boys! This is literally the most simple video and I’m so grateful to you for making it. I’m going to start scheduling it out today and I’m super super excited to get started now!

Looks delicious! Thanks for sharing these ideas! Love what you said about meal prepping working differently for every family! Sometimes what keeps me from meal prepping is the fear that it won't be "perfect". My containers definitely don't all match 😂. But this inspired me!

Loved to see how everything is going. I need to incorporate map drills in our lessons too, that’s a great idea. I’ve used Ambleside online in the past and loved it when we used it but found the same sort of struggle for when your children bump up in years and the amount of readings becomes too much or at least for my kiddos to do independently and if you have multiple children who still need you to read some of them to you it can be very time consuming. This past year I took book recommendations from Ambleside, simpel and free homeschool here on RUclips as well as the CMEC, to make my own booklist for the year for history, natural history, and literature. Next year I’m thinking about using Living Heritage Homeschool which is made by g3. It’s very similar to Ambleside or the alveary or the CMEC. I often have found no matter what book list or curriculum I’ve used I end up tweaking it a bit to fit our family.

I'm gonna try some of these. Those breakfast biscuits are a great idea! I love having hot breakfast with some kind of meat, I'm not a sweet breakfast kinda person, but it takes me so long in the mornings to cook, then clean up during the weekdays. And I don't like using the canned condensed soups either, and so many casseroles and crockpot meals use them. I think I might try to make some homemade and freeze it, so I'll have a healthy homemade version to cook those meals with. Great video, thank you 😊

We are about to start our first day of homeschool on Monday with my oldest son going into 1st grade. We also use Charlotte Mason as well as Memoria Press and Well Trained mind for a classical/Charlotte Mason mashup and I’m so excited! Thanks for the video!

Also forgot to mention I’d also recommend a Charlotte Mason education by Catherine Levison.

I’ve never read a Charlotte Mason companion but I’ve heard great things I’m about it. 😊 I also totally agree that know and tell is wonderful and so insightful and helped me understand narration and implement it. In vital harmony is on my to read list, if you haven’t read it I’d also recommend consider this. Karen Glass explains how Charlotte masons philosophy stems from the classical and how her methods are more closely related to the classical model vs the neo classical model that is more of a modern adaptation.

I definitely never thought of SCM math before but this looks fun and enjoyable. I think their website just made all their curriculum look like it was old (to me). I think I may try this now along side our Singapore for some hands on lessons.

I love both of these curriculums, how exciting and its wonderful they are working for your children.

Hello! THANK YOU so much for this great detailed video. I have a 6 1/2 yr old that just finished TGTB Math 1 and i have been considering to switch her to something more mastery base like BJU. My question is should i start her on BJU Math 2 or Math 1 is BJU more advance? Do they offer a placement test? Thank you.

What do you use for audio books?

You can do Abeka without all the teacher stuff- we love their phonics but we just do the worksheet (Letters and Sounds k5 and then 1st grade) then we sit on the couch and practice reading using their Handbook for Reading (it has all the blends and charts in it plus words)… then we spend a few minutes just reading their “book” Fun with Pets in the first 1st grade book with some sight words and mostly cvc words! We also didn’t like CLE … the amount of pages was just too much for us (4 pages!!?) plus the spiral was over kill. We have enjoyed BJU English, the writing is separate than grammar (we do a book in two years).

Thank you so much for such a well laid out video! I have spent HOURS and HOURS watching so many curriculum review videos. Most of the time I see presenters giving nothing but Ted Talks about their curriculum of choice. You showed so much of each item AND made sure the viewer could see it (clearly!!) up close! What made you decide Abeka instead of continuing TGATB? Is abeka more phonics based?

So glad I found your page my son also has a speech disorder and I’m planning on doing prekindergarten/kindergarten (he’s 5 but it’s my first time homeschooling) to focus more on his phonics.
