Beatrix Potter Society

The Beatrix Potter Society has been registered as a charity in the UK since 1980. We exist to promote the study and appreciation of the life and works of Beatrix Potter (1866 - 1943). She was not only the author of The Tale of Peter Rabbit and other classics of children’s literature but also a landscape and natural history artist, diarist, farmer and preservationist. Beatrix Potter was responsible for preserving large areas of the Lake District through her gifts to the National Trust.
The Beatrix Potter Society upholds and protects the integrity of the inimitable and unique work of Beatrix Potter, her aims and bequests and brings together those who share these interests worldwide.

I read her books as an American child living in England at the age of 3 in the 50s. No wonder I adore reading.
How great it is that she drew what she saw and wrote a story about animals she encountered.

I just gave my 43 year old daughter my book of Beatrix’s artwork. She bought a drafting table and loves the book.

After studying Beatrix Potter for 2 years at school. I loved all I had found out. Sadly years later I discovered that the National Trust had sold off some of her land that she left to them when a he died !!! I resigned that day front National Trust !
What !!! How could they! But also literally how could they isnt that the point of a trust 😢
The thing about Beatrix Potter's art is that she manages to evoke so many emotions in the viewer. If I was to sum up my immediate reaction to her works, it would be in one word... "Home".
