Why I Am Against the House Sparrow
I wanted to give some background as to why I trap and deter House Sparrows, and how I became so disgusted with my findings on this species of bird not native to the United States. This is my first webcam recorded video, so I apologize for my "newbie" faults.

Spare - o - door trap for Purple Martin nestboxes
Просмотров 3,8 тыс.12 лет назад
Although this trap will not fit all Purple Martin housing, it is useful for some in the elimination of the invasive, UN-protected House Sparrow species which will evict Purple Martins. They will often destroy eggs, and kill adults and young of any species trapped inside a nesting cavity. These birds were introduced to the U.S. in the 1800's on the mistaken belief that they would eliminate insec...
Van Ert nestbox trap for House Sparrows
Просмотров 7 тыс.12 лет назад
Have a problem with the notorious House Sparrow? Have your beautiful, insect-eating nestbox tenants been run out by this invasive species? This is just one way to deal with the problem created by this prolific invasive species, which has no protection by U.S. or Canadian laws. I am not endorsing the sale of this trap or the euthanization that is encouraged if you decide trapping is right for yo...
Deluxe Repeating Sparrow Trap (DRST)
Просмотров 186 тыс.12 лет назад
The ultimate tool for controlling the high populations of the invasive House Sparrow and European Starlings species in your neighborhood, which are NOT native to North America, and are classified as PESTS, with NO protection by U.S. federal or Canadian Law. As such, they trap and kill native insect eating songbirds in North America...often building their nest over the corpse of their victims. T...

My parakeet, "Junior", reacts to what he thinks is a House Sparrow inside my house. For whatever reason, some bird calls receive no response from him.

I just recently purchased this .. I had a question about getting them out. Do you take one at a time out of the cage or is there a way to hold the little door open and then fly into the laundry bag? Just trying to binge watch as many videos as possible so I’m able to do this. Thank you so much for the help.!
they may be a Problem, but i think you just enjoy torture, and found a life to kill , fun every day
House sparrows are one of God's creations & have every right to live free. They are my favorite animal & since I rescued a baby female 2 years ago she changed my life in the most meaningful ways. I don't know how u live with yourself, & one day it'll be your turn to b judged before the Creator, & then u can try to explain yourself to him, & hope he doesn't send u to Satan's repeating elevator to hell.
I think this is exactly like the trap I use and IT IS EFFECTIVE!! I average 10 to 12 a day with mine and whoever invented it is a genius. Congratulations and good luck in your quest to clean up the bird world. I'm doing my part here in the midwest.
I had no idea they kill native birds! I'm going on a mission of my own.
This is so cruel. Enough said.
The y p
What's easiest and cleanest way to euthonise (spell) caught ones without damaging trap?
I've had my trap for a month I caught 32 of them thank you..
Put them in a plastic bag and suffocate them.
Crunchy!
Kill as many as you can save are bluebirds and swallows
I would rather have shots of the whole trap than closeups of the birds
Wow you can move a stick And!!!!!!
El juego no tiene la culpa de que tú mando sea un mojon
I got same on PS4
Weird i havent seen that yet
Change your joystick arno hates it😂😂
Traaaaaaa
Do you think the left joystick isn't functioning?
It’s not the game it’s the player
It's not frozen you're doing the wrong button
The character is frozen his moving the joystick but the character does not respond to it
Exterminate the vermin!
I have caught a few hundred.. Need to catch a few hundred more and clear my neighborhood
Please do another video how to install and set the trap. Have someone else hold the phone. A lot is missed in this one
Our state DNR encourages dispatching English House Sparrows.
These traps do not work indoors.
Nicee
These birds are decimating our local bird population, I have even seen them swarm a big blue Jay and force him off the feeder momentarily ( he came back with fury). I plan to begin trapping them soon as there are 50-60 in my yard everyday now.
Great video!! Can you tell me where to order one of these? Thanks
Did u build that trap yourself ? I have a problem with this bird. They are ruining my home. Building nest and crapping every where
I bought a trap at this site because it has very high success reviews. www.sparrowtraps.net/
Do you have the plans for this trap ?
What is the bait you use , some body was saying online that pop corn works...
Fantastic! I just got both kinds of traps and have caught 2 birds (male and female) within one hour.
What do you use to get this trap to catch starlings? elevator weight adjustment?
award winner as worst shot video of all time.
It would be more helpful if you have a friend shoot the video while you demonstrate and talk because the video misses much of what you are doing...hard to understand
Keep trapping these flying mice!!
This is a very effective trap! However, I can NOT emphasize enough that you must monitor it closely as last summer I accidentally trapped a bluebird! (All ended well.) I watch my nest boxes to see which one has HOSP activity. Place it in the box that the HOSP are loving. Then, monitor, monitor, monitor! I do not automatically reset the trap in same box. Clean out the HOSP nest box, then possibly a more desirable (and native bluebird!) bird will make a nest. Last summer the HOSP pecked to death two (almost) successful bluebird nests in my yard. I have no pity for HOSP. They are super mean and aggressive toward our native birds!
I drilled a small hole in the top corner of the flap on my trap and attached a piece of fishing line. I run the other end of the line at a 45 degree angle thru the drain hole at the back bottom floor. When a HOSP gets inside u can pull the line to open the flap while holding a big jar over the hole when it tries to fly out. I've seen HOSP destroy bluebird eggs and drag the female off the nest and kill her also. I hate them with a passion. I can't believe they were introduced to the USA on purpose. That's what happens without researching the consequences with introduced species
Fuck PETA. Damn House Sparrows are a nuisance.
Very nice work and great video!
sick fuck!
I recently bought a trap and am on a mission to kill most of them in our neighborhood.
a responsibility I have kept for thirty five years..ridding the UK of the tree rat from over the pond...sparrows don't damage trees or eat nesting birds..tree rats on the other hand do ..happy hunting
I know trapping HOSP in the country/rural setting can be really successful if somebody wants bluebird houses or just nice visitors to their feeders. Has anybody had any luck in a small town residential area? I'm hoping to reduce the HOSPs who are bonded with my house and block, there will always be more but I'm hoping for fewer nests in my covered gutters. I'll obviously need to close up the gaps in the soffit they like so much-some are pretty high up there! There are starlings up there too, I'll work on them later. I wish we had a raptor re-hab closer than an hour away. I already have a bottle of CO2 for euthanizing our pet rats when they get old or too sick. That way I can start knocking them out without having to break their necks...I'm a wimp now.
The barking sparrow sound ruins my enjoyable coffee with morning robins andcardinals. This is only the beginning. I am lucky to still have morningbirds, in downtown toronto your lucky if u hear or see anything but HOSP. I call them passer doPESTicus. Latin is "domesticus", or Sparasites. Overpopulation is killing bluebird and other passive and enchanting native birds. I aggree and as a bird spirit, the agressive destructive annoying HOSP is infesting the signs at every Toronto strip mall and parking lot. The squirrels and pigeons are always the ones blamed for being pests but they are non violent. No one I tell believes me. Lets educate the masses. The HOSP is not a cute songbird, its a loud mouthed murderer.
thanks for the reply! what would you suggest soap and water?
I made a trap like yours but haven't been able to attracted sparrows into the trap. I have tried bread and bird seed no luck. Any suggestions?
Try crumbled up suet.
Thanks!
cool vid...seems strange ,I spend my spare time shooting your grey squirrels as killers of our songbirds...you have issues with our house sparrows doing the same..such a shame they are both paying the price for mans greed and incompetence..still its better Than shopping with the wife at the weekends
It is a shame, but it is your responsibility to protect your native red squirrel, and our responsibility to protect our bluebird, and other songbirds.
PETA is fine with killing house pets with their prokill shelters, I don't see why they would be worried about nonnative killer pest birds.
