Been messing around with writing canons lately, so I thought I'd share with you a few samples with a simple prelude based off of a Handel Exercise at the beginning, the bassline acting as a cantus firmus. Yeah, I can I hear it. They're both coincidentally in E-flat major too. In comparison to the similar part, your song has a more serious atmosphere. Among your compositions, do you have a favorite?

Thanks, appreciate it! Yeah, I wasn't going for a Bach style canon, though it's not like I couldn't do it if I wanted to, I just wanted to practice canonical writing, and that's essentially what this video is.

I'm really enjoying listening to all of your partimenti pieces! Since your comment on my chorale I haven't had much time to research yet but I've watched a few of the videos you recommend in your description and I think it's such a nice style 🙂
It's took me about a year to get to this point, so don't feel bad if you can't get there immediately. The best way to learn is through immersion, so try to immerse yourself as much as possible in this style, and you'll get there before you know it.
By the way, many of these works you're listening to here are from last year, hence their length and slight inaccuracies. I've got a bunch more works that are more accurate to my target style (baroque), so look out for future videos!
