your air intake is inside and will get stale and wont cool as much, you need to fit the 2nd vent to pull air from outside as well as vent hot air outside from 2nd vent

In the desert, the humidity is sucked away, perhaps even with a strong draught, but otherwise it becomes oppressively humid and worse than before. You can easily try it out: Point the fan at a wet cloth - at first it works great - but later you notice the humidity.

This is called a "swamp cooler" or an "evaporative cooler" it works great if the area is extremely dry. If there is humidity it will only make things worse

I recently got a Tootega pulse 95. I have found it to be excellent. It is a stable craft compared to sit in kayaks, with the benefit of being easy to get back on if you take a swim. It tracks well and goes where you want it to go. I am able to easily get it on and off my car roof without assistance. I have seen video of people taking these down some white water. I invested in some one way bungs for the drain holes, just to keep my bum dry.

This is more properly called a humidifier. It will do what any humidifier can do, and will cool dry air, while also humidifying it. Useful in a dry heat, but not in humid conditions. There is a reason why you keep seeing these in thrift stores... they aren't really very useful except in desert areas.

I’d be interested in your opinion on this now you’ve had the chance to use it for a while. Is it worthwhile and/or worth the money? My collie gets far too hot in our campervan despite him having his own little fan and we could really do with something to keep him cool.
