She sure put a lot of hours in making this Soup.

Ingredients: 180g hulled barley- rinsed Water(enough to cover 3-4cm above barley) (additional)warm water as needed during cooking Med. onion(chopped) 2 small carrots(grated) Vegetable oil for frying 100- 150g Minced Chicken 1/2 tsp Salt 1/2 Paprika 1/2 Garlic powder 1/2 Onion powder 1/4 Turmeric 1/4 tsp Pepper 2 TBSP of tomato paste OR 7 TBSP of tomato puree (additional in soup) Salt - to taste 1/4 Turmeric 1/4 tsp Pepper 2 - 3 TBSP Parsley(fresh or dry) - chopped(optional) 2-3 TBSP Coriander(fresh or dry - chopped(optional) Season to taste Instructions: Wash, rinse and place Barley to soup pot. Add water and bring barley to boil. Reduce heat, cover and simmer. After an hour, check and stir well. After another 30 minutes, stir and add additional warm water as needed. After another 30 minutes, add onion and carrots to the barley & water if needed and simmer for another hour - lid a little open. Season Chicken with spices and stir fry breaking it up adding 1 TBSP of tom. paste at the end and mix well for another few minutes. Add the cooked chicken and 1 TBSP tomato paste to the barley and mix well. Add Salt to taste, 1/4 Turmeric, and 1/4 Pepper, Parsley & Coriander, stir and season to taste again. Simmer for another 30 minutes and serve. I wrote down the ingredients and instructions. I was not sure about the spices.. Please give us the measurments. - Thank you - This sounds and looks so good.

Between the lack of voice-over and the slow, methodical chopping, it was like watching grass grow, or old people fucking. Cooking all that time with unseasoned water is ridiculous. Either use chicken stock or at least add some bullion-style flavoring. There will be no depth of flavor in this, only surface flavors fighting for dominance. The barley is WAY overcooked. Barley should be soft, but not mushy. If this is what counts as "amazing" soup, I am sorry for your unrefined flavor palette.
