How do you preserve the Mac's battery health using this external monitor as the charging is continuous?
🌹👌🏻👍🏻😇
why if the big sur wallpaper appears on your MBA on the LG monitor is the old catalina?
that nails bruh :(
Just received this monitor. Connected to MBP 15 through USB-C. Am I right in saying certain colour modes including sRGB and DCI-P3 should be grayed out? They appear when I connect using regular hdmi
really good vid
Help! I connected my monitor to my macbook air with a USB-c cord but it's not connecting. Can't find a troubleshooting video. It says "Click OK to automatically switch to USB-c input, but I don't see anywhere to click since the monitor is not connected.....hmmm
Is it good for ps5?
Naaaaah
Check out gigabyte 28u or the Samsung Odessy g7 I believe
Any flickering issue on your monitor when connecter to M1?
For anyone wondering what 4K Monitor to buy for their M1 Macbook, I got the LG 27UP850, 4k works perfectly with crisp letters when scaled up/down in display settings, monitor works as a hub perfectly, and it doesn't wake up when the mac is asleep. Color settings can be tweaked to your liking through settings. Don't buy a NON 4k, NON usbc hub monitor, you are just making your life miserable, they got many problems with M1s.
"monitor works a hub perfectly" as long as you use a T4 cable though, and get rid of the stock cable provided by LG. My hard drives don't work through the LG with the stock cable, but they work fine with my M1 if I use a T4 cable, because the USB ports on the LG are downstream USB ports only, they need the Macbook to run through Thunderbolt in order to run.
@@jslg7641 im sorry please elaborate: if you get a good T4 cable you can connect M1 to the LG monitor, and then the USB hub on the monitor will work with most hard drives? I admit I didnt use a drive on the monitor, only accessories, but with a T4 cable they work OK or not?
@@angelosperlegkas yes buy the OWC T4 cable (25 USD). Without it, I can't run the hard drives from the screen because LG provides only a USB-C cable which is not enough to drive the external hard drives.
@@jslg7641 Thank you, I have my mac drive with usbc pluged directly into my mac so i didnt notice, but this is good to know. I can confirm though that keyboard, webcam, laptop stand all work correctly. Only bug i noticed is i have to wake up M1 first, then open the monitor (if i reboot or shut down). Other than that everything fine, I mean even the monitor doesnt wake up (but i do see keyboard waking up with RGB from time to time), whereas I would see the eizo wake up from time to time before and it was annoying. Overall very very pleased so far, because the experience with a hub and 2k screen had been very bothersome. Last but not least, when you turn off the monitor it stops powering the mac battery, which according to the mac salesman is the right thing to do (remove power when sleeping/powered off)
@@angelosperlegkas 1. don't "open the monitor" or "reboot". Screen will go to sleep when your put your Mac to sleep, and it will wake up when you wake the MacBook up. 2. don't turn off the monitor, let it go to sleep after a few seconds, it will keep charging your sleep normally just like if you plugged it with a the Apple charger. if you turn off the screen indeed, the battery will be empty when you wake up because it's using it without charging :)
@Space Waffle I have been using it for 5 days, it's pretty good deal for the price (430 eur) If you want something extremely better you have to spend 5k for the Apple screen, so until then just spend no more that 500 eur For best screen like the M1 just select DCI-P3 mode on the screen and up the brightness to about 70/80. This way you get the best black similar to M1 and nice contrast/brightness. Also select Scaled 1920 x 1080 resolution, to get the best ratio similar to M1 screen. This way the font and everything else just looks the same. Keep Smart Energy Saving and Deep Sleep Mode off. Also to avoid your M1 to wake up the screen from time to time, make sure these options are not checked: "System Preferences>Battery>Optimized battery charging" and "System Preferences>Battery>Power Adapter>Wake for network access"
the settings you mentioned have fixed the usb hub not working problems with the macbook on sleep mode? I just wanna connect my usb keyboard and not have to reconnect or reboot constantly. thank you
@@angelosperlegkas it's working all good for me this way
Hey, I just got this monitor today. I am using it with a MacBook Pro 16" 2019. I am using the setting you're recommending but the colors on the monitor seems to be a little more "saturated" than the screen on the MacBook (and iPhone)
@@JohnLe disable HDR dynamic in mac display settings, or play around with the monitor modes/settings, they make a huge difference. I use reader mode to simulate paper and cause less strain for the eye. If I use cinematic or hdr effect then its a whole other monitor
@@JohnLe well obviously it will never look as good as the official Apple screen, especially the blacks will never look as deep black as the Macbook and iPhone. But I have to say with the M1 and these settings, downscaled to taste it looks great.
@Jane Make sure these options are not checked: "System Preferences>Battery>Optimized battery charging" and "System Preferences>Battery>Power Adapter>Wake for network access"
@Jane Make sure these options are not checked: "System Preferences>Battery>Optimized battery charging" and "System Preferences>Battery>Power Adapter>Wake for network access"
best resolution from my M1 13" is 1920 x 1080, this way it looks perfectly size, and same quality than full screen
Hi! May I know how to change the resolution?
A bit late here but would you still recommend this monitor? Do you think it’s a good choice for a first monitor?
The monitor wakes up every 10 minutes or so when the MacBook is sleeping, but only shows the No Signal message and then goes to sleep again. Do you have the same problem like me?
why doesn't it work for me? the macbook is charging, but putting on the usb-c monitor it answers me no signal ;/ thank you
Whats the difference of this from the 27UL850?
L is 2019, N is 2020 P is 2021 model...
P 2021 model is 96W so you can charge 16" Macbook models now, which was not possible before. also, it has a slighty better display versus older models. that's all.
My LG 27UP850-W Monitor is connected to my macbook pro m1 via Thunderbolt (the cable came with the monitor). The picture on the monitor is much worse than on the laptop. There is no required clarity, although I try to increase the clarity. No result. What to do?
@Nice Guy not true, it's better to use downscaled to match your Macbook screen resolution. 3840x2160 will look way to small, you'll hurt your eyes. downscaling doesn't really reduce quality with 4k screen and M1 MacBooks, you won't notice the difference at all. of course if you want the best, buy a 5k Apple screen for 10 times the price.
Hi, I wonder does your unit have two dots on the top left and top right corners of the frame? I just purchased this monitor and spotted those two dots, which is kinda annoying. But they are not in the display itself, but on the frame...I'm not sure if that's designed by purpose or just some assembly errors. Please let me know if you noticed that or not, thank you!
Yesterday I tested same monitor and it has two dots :) Checked the monitor for dead pixels and saw these 2 dots. It also became interesting for everyone whether it is so or not. Since you have them too, then everything is ok and it was not a problem XD They are symmetrical so they didn't bother me
I have them too, but had never seen them before your comment lol
Just bought this monitor and hooked it up with my macbook pro 16”. But under the “display” tab in “about this mac” menu macos is registering the monitor as 31,5” monitor not a 27” as it should be. Are you having this issue?
It is displayed as a 32-inch monitor like you. I noticed it for the first time with your indication.
@@ngrdesignstudio3801 what resolution settings are you using? I am using mine in 3008x1692, other much higher resolutions were making text fuzzy in the ui.
Hi, may i know if the stand is sturdy or flimsy?
It's quite sturdy
May I know update after few months of use! Is it better than the 2019 UL AND 2020 UN model? Thanks for posting this video!
yes, it is better, it has more color gammut and more contrast
@@josabro2096 thankyou!
and I do not own this but another detail I detected while going through the specs, this seems like can provide 96w of power instead of 60w unlike the UL an UN from the type-c port edit: i've bought it and it arrived today, it seems perfect until now, really close colors to my macbook m1, additionally 10 bit colors on this one unlike the predecessors with 8bit
@@4rmi does it have hdcp 2.2? I mean, could you watch Netflix 4k?
@@rodrigosargaco4488 not sure how a 4k monitor can not be hdcp 2.2 compatible...since it is a monitor and cannot display anything without a cable connection it has to be compatible.
What is the difference with LG 27ul850?
Power delivery is different. UL850 is 60w.
27UP850 is the 2021 variant and is the latest. It has 2 MAJOR advantages over any of its successors i.e. UK-2018, UL-2019 and UN-2020. 1) It has 95% DCI P3 Coverage (same as 16” MBP) 2) Power Delivery over USB-C is now at 96W vs 60W. So, yes it will now finally charge your MBP 16” without draining power from it unlike in the previous versions.
Can I still use it in SRGB Mode? I cannot find the sRRGB coverage anywhere.. :(
@@sajalomr Thank you 🌞
have you notice any issue with scaling the resolution once connected via usb-c to M1 macbook? do you use the native 4k or scale down to 1440p like?
The display of the characters is too small for me, so I use the enlarged characters.
@@ngrdesignstudio3801 thanks for reply, just to double check (as I read about some issues) you are using the scaled resolution in system / display preferences over usb-c and you did not notice any performance or flickering issue.
@@dominiktilp977 As far as I'm using it, I haven't had any problems with flicker or performance degradation.
@@ngrdesignstudio3801 so you are scaling at 1440. Without any (performance) issues? Sorry just to be sure.
@@gebruikersnaam999999 There's no problem in particular.
What kind of Monitor Review just plays MUSIC ???
are you satisfied with the colors on the monitor compared to the macbook?
I am satisfied in comparison.
can you do one more video of the proper full monitor it wAS CROPPED AND CANT REALLY SEE THE MONITOR
How much power output does it provide to your macbook with the usb c cable?
AC information is 96W on os system information.
Does your monitor have any backlight bleed? Mine has some :'(
I turned off the lights in the room, and when I looked closely, I could see only one bleeding. But almost it doesn't bother me.
My monitor has two clear and one fade bleeding, I've called the warranty service, hope I can receive a better one.
@@tuanauduong Was your issue resolved? I am planning on buying this monitor.
@@TheFirzoknadeem1 Unfortunately, no. LG refused to take it back for me :'( they said it is acceptable.
@@tuanauduong How bad is it? Can you share a picture?
Are you happy with the image quality?
Yes,it’s beautiful.
Does it work with MBA volume & brightness shortcut?
No. It doesn't work.
Only apple displays will offer you that feature. Lg makes a few ultrafine displays built in collaboration with apple for macs that have those features
