Hello! I hope you enjoyed this! Let me know if you’ve read any of these and what you think of them. I actually ended up buying She Who Became The Sun and A Concise Chinese-English Dictionary for Lovers right after editing these, so I’ll need to find a new excuse to talk about them. As always, you can find me @ladyredego on ig and twitter, as well as at ladyredego.com (How much plugging is too m...

A little chatty video about Autobiography of Red (briefly featuring Sexting The Cherry). Like I said, it's been a while since I've read the whole book through so some details may be inaccurate. And please double-check the trigger warnings for yourself. Other than that - enjoy :)

I suggest to everyone who enjoyed this to read "The Years" by Annie Ernaux.

Getrude Stein is an absolute lesbian icon but her poetry is so complicated... Still loved Tender Buttons but I gave up on understanding most of it lol

Same! That's why I didn't have much to say about it even though I read it. I like some of her work but I find a lot of it vaguely jarring to read.

2:38 This! This is why I usually dislike YA and/or coming of age stories. They're never relatable, but you always recognize those stories as others' stories. Not everybody worries about who they are, what they will become, some people just worry about having little red wings. Really nice video btw, autobiography of red is also one of my favorites. the passing of time should be a crime.

Absolutely! They often attempt to encapsulate the vague idea of a teenager instead of being specific stories about specific people. I think they're also infantilising most of the time. Thank you for the compliment! :)

luv ur mind ❤️ i also felt that i'd perhaps understand the ending better as i got older. the section where he talks at the kitchen table with his mother punches me in the gut every time. it's so good.
