Blood Bowl 3: Cheerleaders and Assistant Coaches
This video discusses the noob trap of Cheerleaders and Assistant Coaches in the Blood Bowl 3 ladder.
There still is a use for Assistant Coaches in NAF style teams, and the pre-game inducement phase in ladder, where leftover TV/petty cash would go to waste otherwise!
However, getting cheerleaders is probably never worth it...?

You can purchase a wizard as part of the Blood Bowl pre-match inducements phase. This can be used for either a Fireball or Zap! spell. The Zap! spell shown in this video can be used "at the start of the opponent's turn or after it has ended". When this spell is cast, you roll a D6. If you roll equal to or better than the player's strength, it gets turned into a frog for the rest of the drive. T...

      I quite often see coaches backlining on turn 8 & 16, which is when you'd attempt a 1TTD. Also in BB3 infinite ladder, it is arguabley better to protect the team than win the game (especially when protecting randomly skilled players).

    I don't quite follow the percentages in the summary when you talk about touchback scoring with a 2+ pass. Could you elaborate on it?

    • @runningdragon
      @runningdragon 8 месяцев назад

      Touchback was the middle column and doing a 2+ pass the right-hand column. (You don't need a pass if you get a touchback). I added the probably of getting a pow/defender stumbles to getting a push (as the former an extra roll prevents the dodge away). The 2d/2 syntax means "2 dice block with 2 successful outcomes). There used to be a bot that would accept syntax like that. I use www.bloodbowldave.com these days.

  • @keithamberg6392
    @keithamberg6392 8 месяцев назад

    So, you can use these rules just for general passing also, correct? If I know that rushing once to make a 4+ into a 3 + pass and a 3+ into a 2+ it is improving my odds. Otherwise, it's worth it to rush twice, correct? Similar to handing off. If you can pass on a 2+ there's no reason to rush as it's the same odds, just pass. I just try to remember simple things that come up often. Am I on the right track here?

    • @runningdragon
      @runningdragon 8 месяцев назад

      Hi! Yes, and you don't kill your player too on failure! :) It's even better now in BB2020 rules to Rush if you have more than one re-roll: 2+3+ is 55.6% success (0 re-rolls) 83.3% (1 re-roll) 86.4% 2 re-rolls vs 4+ is 50% success (0 re-rolls) 75% (1 re-roll) AND 2+2+4+ is 34.7% success (0 re-rolls) 63.7% (1 re-roll) 70.4% 2 re-rolls vs 5+ is 33.3% (0 re-rolls) 55.6% (1 re-roll) There is this website where you test various plays: www.bloodbowldave.com

    ... and if you setup a Saurus (maybe the dude two squares away from the Ogre) in the square to the right of the left most LOS player then you can get the 3 th push from this angle if your 2nd block from the right fails to produce a push and it also stops that player from moving on a blits :) I might have a series from bb2 on the subject if you want some inspiration :D

    • @runningdragon
      @runningdragon 11 месяцев назад

      Thanks for the comment! - That's a nice idea for this setup if you have a full team. I kept that saurus unmarked two squares below the ogre in case the Cameleon skink could not get to the square to fill it during a hand-off (so does a throw instead). The saurus could then move right 1 square (required for the first chain-push after the Blitz). I guess it should probably be moved two places to the left to help protect the Chamelion from a Blitz kick-off event...

      Throwing is much easier, see the comment that got added to the video. The actual 6 push one-turn is insanely hard if you also have to throw, catch and dodge through a back-line. I did probabilities on the similar Chaos 1TTD video, which are around 0.03%!

      For the sequence shown using bloodbowldave: 2D5;SH:U3,R2,2;C3;L4:2,2,3;D:4,D3,D3,D3 It gives: 0 re-rolls: 5.5% 1 re-rolls: 14.8% 2 re-rolls: 21.4% 3 re-rolls: 24.1% However, a throw of 6 would have given a 3+ landing instead of 4+. There are so many other factors that would also influence this. Some include: Positives Touchback so the Goblin gets the ball straight away Opponent player on the LoS getting stunned by a kick off event Quick Snap kick off event Negatives The Kick might make the hand off impossible, or may required extra Rushes. Perfect Defense kickoff event (players can be put in front of Troll and Goblin, with a better double screen covering the landing zone) Ball retriever, Troll or Goblin getting stunned by a kick off event Might get a Blizzard, or Rain weather event The landing scatter direction might involve a Rush by the Goblin. The opponent on the LoS having the Block or Stand Firm skills etc. I'll let someone else work out the grand total probability! 😀

      Yes. One way is that you can use a Wolf on the LoS to frenzy push into a hole. Then get 3 pushes on the other Wolf who will be your scorer. This wolf can then blitz through the back line (extra useful is there is a strength 2 on the back line). Even with an all strength 3 back line, you turn a 5+4+3+ dodge into a 5+ (pow) or a "3-4 (push),5+ (pow)" or a "3-4 (push),3-4 (push),3+ (dodge)".

    and one more thought (4:13 video time) again, do a third push here, if the pushed Ork is still standing! Had of from one square higher than in the video. Then push as you do. Then use the spare gutter in the back right beside the TD gutter to make one more box. If you push or pow the Ork now, the gutter gains a crutial square while pushing one of the roadblock away. Now it is a 3+3+2+doge and 2+gfi.

      @runningdragon 2 года назад

      Yes, good point at 4:30 you could fill 13F & 14E. Just a 3+2+ dodge and 2+ gfi then? They'd need 4 pushes and 11 players though. Also assumes you didn't have to run the Thrower into the backfield to throw the ball to the Gutter runner, for them to hand off. I've been using this one for a while now defending as Undead, getting just 3 pushes on a mummy is proving tricky! Some coaches have tried to go down the right, or just give up and setup for the Riot instead. When I have a moment, I am going to to a follow up on the going down the right technique.

    Again thanks for the video! Now that I am thinking about it, the scaven can get another push in your first example as well. Just hand of from the square abot the TD Gutter. Then do your 2 push. If the Ork ist still standing, you can form another bock ans push one more square. This way you save one gfi and one 3+ doge. Thanks to your video my one turns are getting better. :)

      You mean at 0:39? Nice spot, relies on doing a Rush by the Skaven thrower to fill Rank 13, column K (in my example anyway...). Also the gutter would need the movement to reach Rank 14, J. Worth doing if you have the movement, a Rush to save a Rush and the 3+ dodge. Would need to do the maths if multiple Rushes are required (especially if you lost the re-roll getting the initial pushes).

    Thanks for the interesting Video. However I think that the scaven coach can do better in your second example. If the blitiung Scaven does not follow and runs to the right square, the Gutter can be pushed another square. Even if he does not, the scaven can still form another Box (1:23 in your video) and make one more 2d Push bevore the Handof. This might not work, but if it does, the pick up gutter can still reach with one 2+Doge. Now that doge has a RR build in, the handof is now a 2+ and you get rid of one 2+ gfi. Still a great video that made me think. :)

      Thanks for your comments! I covered probabilities of scoring touchdowns with potential bonus pushes in some of my previous videos doing one turn touch down demos. In this one, I decided to keep it simple and just compare "like for like" assuming the 2nd push (or 3rd push in the hole technique) was a pow. Not ideal, as the extra push can avoid a nasty dodge in some of these examples... It has made me think that these setups needs names, like the boat, chevrons and cups for normal defenses... :)
