What was the point?

Russia has been a steady and time tested partner. That's practical and straightforward answer. Our EAM MR. S Jaishankar is doing an excellent job. In geopolitics this approach is much important. USA never can be trusted in coming next 1--15 years especially with democrats in power. There was lil good change when Trump administration was there. But with Biden it's totally opposite thing and you just can't trust this administration. Good thing is that Japan is also making itself stronger instead of depending on untrustworthy USA. Soon Japan will also show independent foreign policies. Everyone has right to think about their country first. So good move by them. IF Russia-Japan both will stabilize their relations then Asia will be geopolitically more stable.

Sir also please do not forget.. percapita energy consumption in India is far lower than that of the US. In the US, aircraft is the most common mode of long distance transport, all middle class homes have central heating and cooling , most people have cars and that too big suvs and pickup trucks. In India we use trains largely, most of our home don’t even have air conditioning, some have air conditioning but room-wise, the cars we drive here on average are far more fuel efficient. So, the west is no one to lecture us as to where we buy our energy from. If they are so concerned, they should share their energy with us for free. Then we can reduce dependence on Russia and other countries the west hates.
