"You're Losing Me" helped me realize I needed to leave my toxic job that I was losing my whole self to

ALWAYS. She never read my diary coz I never have one but she read into my souls. The worst thing are about things so devastating to my life that I've forgotten about but in her songs she came over & say nope, u got to listen to this to become a better person..& for that, I'll forever owe my life to her. I would never be who I'm today without her. I would happily donate my heart to her if she ever need another one & I'm dead serious about it 🤍🤍

Tolerate It killed me after my divorce. Never Grow up when my (then little) Swiftie would listen to it. (She was like 5 and I would pick her up and dance with her to it. Taylor is wise beyond her years. She is a phenomenal therapist!

So many of the lyrics in her songs speak to me about different times in my life. I'm in my mid-fifties, so I've had a lot more experiences than many Swifties, but I'm here to tell you that you'll continue to relate to different songs at different times. I can listen to her song Fifteen and reminisce about my young girlhood days and yes, life was like she said in the song. And on and on. I've had the love-bombing Smallest Man Who Ever Lived, and I've even lived Guilty as Sin a few times in my life, as it's so true that when we see the end of a relationship is near, we tend to romanticize the past relationships that got away and think that we're still in love with them, when in reality, they NEED to stay in the past. Righ now, today, I'm feeling 22. I've gone through some medical issues and went through a period when I was feeling 82. Feeling like my best days are over. But I've come through them and am feeling better than I have in 15 years, so youthful and energetic, that I sing that song at the top of my lungs! :D

This is all so meaningful & relatable. I can’t even describe. I’m new & haven’t heard all her old music yet, so I can’t say what hits me most, but from TTPD, loml, the black dog, who’s afraid of little old me. I love these songs & feel I’ve loved them at different times in my life. I’m 54 & trying to break up with 51 years of mental illness, now that they got my meds right. I know it can’t TOTALLY happen. I do live in reality, but Lavender Haze is where I want to be. I also have always loved Love Story. Still waiting for mine. I wish I understood more about her songs, like what WAS happening at that time in her life? I’m slowly learning. I wish she’d write a book. I guess her music is her literary voice though, which is amazing! Her lyrics are so powerful. So much emotion in them. Anyway, I’m sorry I’m a day late. Would love to hear more from Ryan about her feelings with her guy or girl & how Taylor’s songs helped/hurt/were cathartic etc. Love you girls! ♥️ Jess

Not only that, but some of her songs have absolutely nothing to do with my life and she can still make me feel it and cry! But my Taylor song is 'You're On Your Own Kid'. At 58, I have come to a place that I accept I am all I have or need. I can enjoy people for short periods ('so make the friendship bracelets'), but when it comes to it, I can only rely on myself, so that's who I expend my energy on. I'm the ony one who deserves it. Certainly not wasting time on relationships. Love is just a construct.

Aw hon, this sucks. Been there, done that, over and over again. At age 52 I married my “So High School.” We’ve been married for 14 years and he’s STILL my “So High School,” so it’s never too late! Before that it was always “You’re Losing Me.” Auntie advice: (It doesn’t matter that I’m not your Auntie … it’s all the same.) 🥰 1. Don’t push it. If you’re looking for love, you’ll excuse poor behavior and imagine things that aren’t true. Being alone and living your best life, learning and growing on your own, is WAY better than being in a half-assed relationship. 2. Men do NOT have potential! If you don’t like him exactly how he is, he’s not the one. Waiting for him to figure it out means you’re wasting your time. 3. Don’t give hoping to receive. If he doesn’t get you, move the f*** on. 4. Pay attention to what you’re really grieving. It may be more about grieving the dream of what you wanted it to be than actually grieving the actual relationship. 5. Take some time to regroup and remember who you are. Any man who can’t handle the full-on, strong, competent Ryan is a hard pass. You don’t need to compromise. Sending bunches of Auntie hugs! You’re an amazing woman, and I know you’ll come out of this better than you went in. 🥰🥰🥰

Love this idea! Thanks for sharing - life is challenging and beautiful and painful, and TS captures many of life’s feelings so accurately. Love me some Tay therapy. I’m in my early 40s and a friend who was like a brother to me throughout my 20s recently committed suicide. I can’t find a TS song that captures the feelings of devastation, the regret of not being there, but lines in Cardigan like “I knew you dancing in your Levi’s drunk under a streetlight” and “and when I felt like I was an old cardigan under someone’s bed, you put me on and said I was your favorite” capture the adoration and nostalgia we had for each other, “This is me trying” makes me think about his perspective and the weight of addiction and PTSD he carried, and “Bigger Than the Whole Sky” is a good one to sob to.

I had a boyfriend die in 2021 Bigger than the whole Sky reminds me of of him. He also liked blank space. I also had a rough break up after and My Boy only breaks his favorite Toys reminds me of that relationship. I’m queen of castles he destroyed. I tried so much to salvage the relationship but was a losing battle, so I understand that feeling. Oh and I had a woulda, coulda, shoulda situation in my past. I enjoy your videos!

So sorry you have similar luck as lots of us ladies! I'm so many years removed from my past traumatic relationships, that the lyrics are more reflective for me vs feeling it because I'm currently going through it. I'm still single, mostly by choice as I've decided to focus on my son, but at 43 I'm still wondering if The Prophecy will ever be fulfilled for me. I'm so happy focusing on myself, friends and family; but still yearn for the partner that I've longed for.

Hey Ryan, while breakups are horrible to go through, you will be fine. What you might consider doing is going to a Chiefs home game and find a seat underneath where Taylor's suite is. You could watch a game and stalk your girl at the same time. Also, you're beautiful and will be fine after your breakup. There will be plenty of guys out there that would be overjoyed to have you in their life. Just stay away from the super players and find a guy who is looking for something real. Now he might not check every box that you have, but if he's a family oriented man with a huge heart, is smart and good looking and in shape and funny and charming and makes ok money and would adore you and likes your podcast and loves Taylor Swift and is a life long Chiefs fan looking for his own Travis and Taylor style relationship, then that might be the type of guy that you're looking for. If only you could find a guy like that. Who, knows, maybe he's closer than you think. Maybe he's writing you a message right now and would love to get to know you better. Btw, you don't live in the Kansas City area, do you? Because I know a guy just like this that completely fits the bill ;)

The best thing on Taylor‘s songs: they are relatable for a lot of people and in different situations. And even if she mostly writes from her perspective, her songs are relatable for men too. I have started very late really listening to Taylor’s music - she got me with “Champaign Problems” as Evermore was released. Just flip the story and try to see it with the eyes of that guy! Then it was “All to Well” - a lot parts of it are relatable too. Then “Exile” - what man cannot relate to “I never learned to read your mind”? I mean, we all can say: “It's me, hi, I'm the problem, it's me”. And of course “You are losing me” - it hits (differently). And Taylor always can look in peoples -windows- souls. My current “mirrorball”-song is “I Hate It Here” - the bridge could be my status message for a long time: I'm lonely but I'm good, I'm bitter but I swear I'm fine, I'll save all my romanticism for my inner life and I'll get lost on purpose… And Taylor has songs to build me up again. It could be “YOYOK”: Everything you lose is a step you take. So make the friendship bracelets, take the moment and taste it. You've got no reason to be afraid. or some another upbeat song. Listening to her music just helps to come through all good and bad times.

You’re Losing Me came out a couple days after I broke up with this awful guy I never actually liked (caught him cheating) but since he’s a perpetual people pleaser I kept him around to get things repaired in my house. I had zero sad emotions over that song even though I should have. Truly showed how much I hated that guy and I made the right decision to cut him loose after he installed the greenhouse fan. Anyway. I don’t date anymore, never will. I’m done. Why go through all the inevitable pain over a cheating lying man when you can collect more cats and hire a handyman instead? Now if The Prophecy came out 3 years earlier I wouldn’t have survived.

It's scary how we are "living the same life". I got divorced in July/2023 and was totally cool with it, in my head I was detached from this relationship for a year+, so... When TTPD came out, it hurt so bad because it forced me to mourn, the worst of them all is The Prophecy, because I can relate SO much with it. Can't thank Taylor enough for this album.

“Peace” was an epiphany (🤗) for me. I had never resolved a relationship that I bailed on years ago. I had never been able to put into words the reason I had to leave.. I cried my head off/heart out when I heard “Will it be enough if I can never give you peace?” I know now that this was right for him… but, selfishly, I wonder….

I’m all there for Tay Therapy. Hang in there Ryan we’re all on your side. LOML was/is the killer song for me. I’m in my late 60’s & that one still resonates with me. It’s a killer of a song that breaks me every time.

Great episode, I feel you,break ups suck so much. Taylor has written many songs that correlate with times in my life, almost all of TTPD REALLY hit me hard, but Clean is a song that some days I cannot listen to, for me it totally describes how I felt getting over a sexual assault by someone I had called a friend for many years and that total violation, it can be hard to be brought back to that, but it also saved me at that time. Love you ladies 🫶

I've been sort of afraid to say this bc I don't want the swifties to come for me as the kids say. However you gave me an opening. In the Zane Lowe interview for "Folklore" and "Evermore" she said, "Joe and I love sad songs." The was a GINORMOUS red flag for me. I think it's probably just bc I was looking at it from a pulled back perspective. In my head I'm hearing "how much sad did you think I had in me?". Putting together Joe was an introvert and she was an extrovert I did not think that would be a forever relationship. I think I have said I live in one hotel room with my introverted mother and I'm a Sagittarius as well and I read that we are extreme extroverts, not that I needed to read that to know lol. It's very hard. You add in that she's Narcissistic and that makes it worse. Joe literally was gorgeous so I wanted it to work out but when she said that, I was pretty sure the relationship wouldn't last much longer.

Yes I love this. Like I've said many times I am probably an elderly person to you bc I will be 54 this year. I quit on relationships when I was engaged to a guy I had been dating for 7 years and he all of a sudden became bi polar. He couldn't talk to me enough for 2 weeks then I could literally have stood in front of him with a knife to my throat and he couldnt have cared less. So yeah for two weeks YLM would have upset him, but the other two he wouldn't have cared.

Hi girls. I’m 58 years old. My son was born in 1989. I’ve literally watched Taylor grow up. I’ve followed her career and always loved her music. I didn’t really get emotionally invested involved though. Until….watching the Eras tour. The first time I watched her sing All to well I just cried throughout. I could relate to lyrics about my own last relationship. In that moment I suddenly realised that as two grown women we had experienced the same feelings as I know many of us have. Music is so powerful and healing. 🥰❤️❤️❤️

TTPD is about an Aries Avoidant and I found it interesting that I shared the deep meaning of the album with my Aries whom I thought was a wonderful man. The end of July, after a small first fight, he broke it off and ghosted me and my children....separated my family from his 6 year old twin children 😢. I lost my best friend, my future husband, and 2 beautiful children out of the clear blue! LOML, My Boy Only Breaks His Favorite Toys, The Black Dog, The Prophecy are amongst the songs that hit and hurt the most.

Sometimes, Taylor hit's too hard and too real... but it's almost always a much needed smack in the face to begin healing or acknowledging that there's something just under the surface that we may be avoiding. <3

But it makes me happy to think you will no doubt have far better things in your near future, and that you have such a wonderful friend in Molly. And you’re young - some of us who are decades older than you also find Taylor’s sad songs more relatable than we would like.
