THIS PRICK MATTHEW BANNISTER TALKS ABOUT RADIO 1 BEING "OUT OF TOUCH" WITH THE "YOUTH OF TODAY"......WHILE SITTING INFRONT OF A PIANO.....STUPID FUCKING GRAMMER SCHOOL PONCE....INTO "HIS MUSIC"...LIKE THE REST OF THOSE LORDING IT OVER EVERYONE ELSE MIDDLE CLASS TWATS DO....STILL TO THIS DAY.
This is the opening track on the Classic Album University 1995,such a strong album throughout, one of the best alternative rock Albums ever ! Recommended ! Thankyou for this great video post ! Wow !!
"Oh look, Room 307, "GISM" - the groping, inappropriate and sexual misconduct department... And look, DLT's piles cream is still there next to his zimmer frame."
Matthew Bannister had a job to do but change could have been phased in gradually instead of just throwing the station into turmoil and losing half the listeners virtually overnight, only the BBC could afford to do this, a commercial station wouldn't dare risk losing half of it's audience.
They wrecked radio 1 , and today its s bad
I don't remember seeing this at the time, thanks for posting.
Not liking dogs seems a pattern with these kids though! I think they are too cautious, anxious and read other people too much, they do have a lot of empathy i noticed also!
Imagine having a job in which you’re considered an arsehole by everyone. Hired just to fire people. What a tw@ty job, luckily there are tw@ty people willing to do those jobs. I wonder if they realize they’re seen as tw@ts?
if the organ music was coming from the old stonework, why did it stop playing when the pub landlord opened the door?????
I have my widescreen boxset from 1992. Now all I need is have them digitally transferred onto disc. God knows how the tapes will now play.
Did pick up Simon bates twice in London. And what a really friendly nice guy
this is a horrible agenda based programme - so bitter and twisted
I remember seeing this scene on a repeat aired on BBC Prime (I'm French) in the mid 2000's. It was missing from the DVDs I bought a few years later though, which was disappointing :/
Dont walk away......in silence....
Adrian Juste has zero self-awareness.
these would be classed as woke now
This isn’t even slightly offensive. The Indian man literally refers to Frank as his English brother after Frank calls him his Indian brother? The world’s going to the dogs I swear to god.
The narrator is the chief “Guv” copper in the Comic Strip “Detectives on the edge of a Nervous Breakdown” episode…. he later went on to Downton Abbey….
Adrian Juste!!! Do me a favour!!! About as funny as picking up a dog turd with a stick ….
Never ever liked Chris Evans ....just so full of himself!!
Danny Baker 'creative'? 🤣
Chris Evans...meet the old boss, just like the new boss...only more shouty.
"Sir Rupert" calling someone defending their own country from an invader a "terrorist"... yeh we all know your sort Rupert.
Radio 1 was always cringey mainstream, there were far better pirate radios at the time.
Bannister missed a trick, he could have had a monthly cull completion , I'd have voted every month for sure, with the result, sacking and splutterings live on air.
Apart from John Peel and Annie Nightingale the rest especially bates were a waste of skin. DLT gets a pass in my book too.
All those sacked DJs had reached the end of their shelf life. Simon Bates even admitted he'd had a good run and couldn't believe he hadn't been dismissed earlier. The idea that their replacement destroyed radio 1 as we knew it is laughable. Technologies did that.
Simon Bates actually announced to a newspaper that he was leaving Radio 1 before Matthew Bannister fired him, he planned that before the axe came down on his Radio 1 job much like DLT announced his departure from the station live on air ie basically they chose to jump before they were pushed.
Well, I am a dinosaur if you like but very much alive and loving all music. Happily I remember when Noel Edmonds and Tony Blackburn were on in the morning and used to laugh ourselves senseless on our way to work! Such a great way to start the day! These guys were great at entertaining as well as giving us great music. Egos seemed to be less of an issue then, or better controlled perhaps. I'm always sad when great talent is sidelined by executives who think they're God. I'm very happy listening to Sounds of the Sixties and l LOVE BOOM RADIO!!!! I'm 74 btw...still dancing and love new music too but where to find it is a mystery to me...lost in all this tech stuff which seems to be the possession of the young mind unwilling to inform we dinosaurs....imho. I loved this video, it filled in gaps for me!! I'm in Australia .
All full of their own importance.
It was true that mothers used to listen to Radio One. I hated it except for the charts. I couldn't wait for Radio Luxembourg to come on at 7pm. My mother could never quite manage to tune Luxembourg in so Radio One it was. Even calling 160 dial a disc on the phone was better than listening to Radio One.
I mean seriously whats the dramatic music about. It's a documentary about changes at a radio station!
They were all a bunch of cocks and I have no sympathy for any of them particularly in light of the BBC being revealed as some sort of government psyop😮

Radio 1 ignored American grunge music in the early nineties but around 1993 MTV played Creep by Radiohead regularly and they were British but it could get no airplay on radio 1. This is why the station needed to change and get away from the dinosaur mentality
CONEHEAD
His wife seems so gentle
Apart from Radio Two, their old listners can listen to Heart ❤️, Smooth etc.... People in Radio 1's target group have many more choices these days
It's odd, apart from Steve Wright, John Peel, and Tommy Vance I had no time for the rest. I switched to less than Legal sources on the radio then :-)
Adrian Juste splicing himself into comedy shows to give himself all the laughs has to be the weirdest creepiest thing I've ever heard on the radio.
What a wanker the loud mouthed cockney was. Is. Mind you so was DLT. Is.
“It’s Tony Crap, with crap in the morning,” “I always preferred a crap in the afternoon” “There’s Noel Tidybeard” “The grand daddy himself, sir Jimmy savlon” “Oh look! BLT the hairy sandwich” “And there’s the worlds youngest man: David Kid Pension”
The end of Mike Smash & Dave Nice !
You’ll never find a more wretched hive of scum or villainy in any incestuous environment than the openly secret BBC 🌎
1:54 there he is, bottom left…working his way up from the bottom like he is again now! Can you tell who it is yet? (No, not him🦘)
Loved Radio 1, got me through some boring times in the truck, loved Our Tune with Simon Bates especially and can remember Evans being the new dj. I'm sure one caller said to him that he was told by the telephone staff not to upstage him, when this was mentioned to Evans he wasn't very happy at all. I can remember the live shows from seaside towns (usually) as if it was yesterday. Didn't realise these older dis were classed as dinosaurs though as I thought they were brilliant and I was early 20's then...
they went from 20 million listeners to just 3 million. yep. they wrecked it....
The overlay music and piss taking narration is hilarious
The BBC once again ate itself
I sometimes used to listen to DLT in the 80's on Radio 1. All DLT's show actually was, was an extension of his huge ego. I will never forget one episode when he was playing his stupid snooker game with the phone-in contestants and he asked the male punter how tall he was, the punter said 5' 10'', Travis replied with: "I'm 6' 2'' myself. In fact, while listening to Travis, I knew his height, chest size, shoe size, to mention just 3 metrics. An ego worthy of Trump.
