One could easily write a book on Titanic passengers from the two Virginias, but in this video, we're focusing on two people in particular, who handled the trauma from their survival in two very different ways. Oral history can be tricky for a number of reasons. One of those reasons is that people often choose what they are willing to discuss based on personal boundaries as much as broader cultu...

I’ve stayed there in the big house. It’s haunted. I think it’s Mrs Eliza Bruce. She was telling me to get out of her house. The two portraits in the entrance hall are really creepy too.

As some radical post Vatican II priests decided to remove some of the beauty like the angel statues etc, the people were responsible for they could have forbid this destruction and demanded the exit of these radicals. Being catholic all my life I've experienced these types of personalities and they did destroy a lot of the beauty of the original Catholic Churches........However this insanity still exists but in very limited quantity..Thank God!!!........Still a beautiful Church!!!! as well as Powhatan.......

Though not raised Catholic, this Church brings back many fond memories of seeing it every morning going to Gary Elementary and Gary High school. This Church was a big part of the local community when I was growing up in the area. I hope that it will continue to stand as a memorial of the people of the Gary area for years to come.

The enslaved produced an estimated 69% of the South's portion of the GNP, possibly Higher, as the Sugar, Cotton, and Indigo exports made some 4 of the Plantation Owners the then "Wealthiest Men in the World". They comprised a variable number between 400 and 1200 enslaved persons each. Free Labor and no Taxes factored into immense profits. They influenced the Newspapers of the day, and that reveals the seeds of the Civil War, fanned by the "International Bankers and Financiers" who wanted to own our Financials and Banking System. Just stayed there this past weekend for my Wife’s family reunion. Beautiful property but you can feel the energy there soon as you step foot on the grounds. Feels very sad. We had the chance to explore the big house, the grounds, the slave quarters, the graveyard’s. No paranormal Activity we experienced. Before leaving we said a prayer for our ancestors who were enslaved on these grounds, praying for their peace in the afterlife and paid respects to their hardship’s and inhumane treatment they must’ve faced. It was a very powerful and most memorable reunion we have had.

when they started working on the costar building they uncovered multiple underground canal passages and tunnels so it is very possible he had a tunnel from the house to the river. another cool fact is that camble's hill had a train tunnel through it like church hill does and this tunnel was for the shortest railroad in north america at the time. Unfortunately Gamble's Hill is a barren stretch having been bisected by the expressway now it is mostly parking lots with a few businesses. maybe one day something good will come of that area of the city

The recordings she made, (as well as other recordings by opera greats at the time), at the end of her career, would be the perfect opportunity to use AI technology for a good purpose. I know her voice was probably not as good then, at the end of her career, but what I hear behind all the scratches and recording impurities, is lovely. What I would give, to have a Time Machine, and recording equipment, to hear the greats of the past!
