This size and brand trailer is what I am interested. I will haul two ATVs. And I am glad to see you can move it... You are strong!!
I also bought the wheel for the tung jack, which makes it even easier to move around when it's not loaded.
@@tomwells1819 thanks for the update 👍🏼
The Stealth silent compressors run at half the rpm (around 1700 rpm). Big reduction in noise and extends the motor life also.
seems to go pretty fast what if you adjusted the gearing down to like 20mph bet it would go up hills
Might be a project for next winter.
@@bonesetranch i hope you do it id def like to see more vids
wow your the man the way you designed the custom bracket to hod her inplace very cool great content !!
Thanks.
Great review thanks
No maintenance, those LA batteries have been used and abused. Certainly no bloody maintenance.... LOL, those welds are LASER welds, not spot-welds and no, you can't solder Alluminium.
Yes Ben, you're right. The original batteries were used and abused, and better knowledge about the maintenance earlier on would have helped. But no amount of maintenance would have changed the range and other shortcomings of the original setup including the maintenance required to keep them running at full potential. I may learn more about the lithium battery that will temper my enthusiasm for the installation in the future. But for now, I would make the same choice again with what I have experienced with the changes.
Great Video and a Really clean instellation of the new Battery great job !!!!
Glad you liked it. Thanks for watching.
What is your charge rate on the lead acid batteries? If they are offgassing that badly, it seems like they need to be charged at a much lower rate, bring the temps down a bit. That's pretty excessive for it to be what's been normal to you. It's not of consequence now that you upgraded to lithium, but it could have been a part of the issue. Just curious, for the sake of learning more.
My lead acid charger was putting 3 amps in at charge. When the lead acid batteries started losing appreciable charge longevity, I did research into all the things that the original Tracker instructions failed to explain about the maintenance of lead acid batteries. I could have likely extended the life of the lead acid batteries if I had been better about when and how the batteries were recharged and been better about checking the fluid levels earlier. However, these are maintenance items I don't have to worry about with the lithium.
@@bonesetranch huh okay. Well I know you'll love the upgrade, even without the less maintenance part there haha, lithium is very much worth the extra money if you're able to spend it.
Boneset Ranch, This made me laugh so much! Thanks for sharing!
What size is the box?
It is the Tractor Supply 18 in. X 46 in. X 14 in. Low Profile Box.
Great video now I want one THANK YOU
Congratulations! Thanks for sharing.
Sounds and look like a wheelchair....
Agreed. It's not as stealthy quiet as I had hoped.
Poor kawasaki
It has a second life it would have never had.
@@bonesetranch you arent wrong but why not predetor swap it? electric takes forever to charge and if you go a gas engine you would only need to wait like what 10 seconds to put fuel
Good question. Frankly, I'm ready to set this project aside again. It is functional for now. I can use it for little chores around the top half of the property. But you're right, the time to refuel is a big advantage for gas engines.
I'm considering this product, and I realize there are many variables that can effect acoustics. But I'm curious, does the aluminum make a meaningful amount of noise when you walk on it with shoes? Also if you have happened to drop anything on the deck, did you find it dented easily, or is it reasonably resilient in this regard so far? Thanks for your time in making this video, its appreciated! (Edited for grammar)
It's not loud to walk on unless you plod along or wear really hard sole shoes. We've had 0 dents so far, though stuff like firewood falling on it. The paint is holding up great. It's way better than the synthetic materials I've worked with.
9 Acres here in the Yukon and soooo many projects :) its just me and the dog though - so not many helpers
Yes, mine have moved out so it's just me and the wife now. I feel the same way. Hard to know what to do next.
Looks good, I’m in the market for a trailer, I’ll check them out, Thank you
Couple years in and still happy with it. Thanks for watching.
You're asking a lot of that little motor. Have you checked how hot it's getting? Cool project by the way.
Not to hot to touch so far. I think the step-up ratio of the small sprocket to the big one is making it work. I'll have to figure out the math of it before my next video.
Nice video. I would like to electrify my Kawasaki Bayou 300. What would be the best kit to achieve that?
I bought an all-in-one kit from Amazon. www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07KR2FN89/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&th=1 The biggest drawback is matching up a chain sprocket to the Kawasaki drive shaft. There would be things I would change if I did it again knowing what I know now. The biggest is that I would have taken the shaft and the sprocket to a machine shop and asked the pros to connect the two. My welding approach is not perfect. I improved it the second time around, but a competent machine shop would be more reliable. It is a bit satisfying though to have made this happen only using my homeowner level tools and skills. As others have suggested, a golf cart motor would have a good chance of being adapted to connect directly to the shaft, but I could not find a "Kit" that incorporated the voltage controller, throttle, and charging controller all in one with that kind of motor and I don't know how hard it would be making the connection to the shaft. As for my build, I am satisfied the combination will serve its original use to let my wife move garden tools and debris around the developed part of the property. I am hoping it will also prove to be a good vehicle for accessing the creek area of my property, but I have to finish outfitting it and wait for the rains to end to see if it can haul up and down the steep hillside. That will be another video when it happens.
@@bonesetranch what type of batteries you hook to it?
I purchased a 72V, 25 AH Lithium ion Battery pack rated for a 3,000W motor on Amazon. I wouldn't recommend ordering from this manufacturer because it arrived DOA and I was ghosted on customer service. Not a surprise that the seller is no longer in business on Amazon. I did finally trouble shoot the issue (seen in ruclips.net/video/O9vWp4k5DoA/видео.htmlsi=4trLEolcZirZEtdg ). There are many more options for buying the battery that can be used through Amazon these days.
Hoping for next week. Made great progress this weekend. Just need next weekend (3/10) to put it back into commission.
It is back together and running. Now to take some action video and finish the edit. It is a zippy and has handled some light off roading. Going to ramp up the challenges as I observe the performance.
Soon as in a month or 2?
Is it hard to close the gate and window from the inside? Like if you were truck camping ? ❤
Not hard. My son camps with a bed drawer and can pull the gate up and zip the rear down from inside before settling in for the night.
I would start with swapping your AC for a 12volt system.
Agreed.
Yeah the battery pack system is just fine. If you're never going to run the air conditioning. But if you're out in the desert and it's over 100°F. What are you going to do? Run a fan? Yeah no. That's not going to cut it. So your battery pack system is just fine. In those cooler northern latitudes. When you can get by with a couple of batteries. To run some LED lights and your laptop. Certainly no air conditioning. And I guess you are running your refrigerator on propane? And so it has to be very level. Or it's going to blow up. I just pack a regular, GE, frost free refrigerator/freezer. 120 volt style. And then I freeze, a number of, 1/2 Gallon, water jugs... And those keep it cold. Between power applications. Just like an old-fashioned Ice Box. And they have decent insulation. Better than most coolers.. I have a couple of induction cooktops. And a microwave oven. And a barbecue grill.. I don't need anything else. I do not bake cookies nor cakes. I don't need to roast a chicken.. I have cast-iron skillet's and grills. Those work with anything. I like basic cooking. I only get the froufrou stuff at restaurants. I keep it simple. I like it, simple. I stay away from a lot of sugar. I'm pretty much sugar-free.. And no, Arty Fecal Sweeteners. I can't stand those chemicals. Ugh! And I just like to throw, complete shrimp. Into a deep fat fryer. No breading necessary. And I like to make some, common popular sushi rolls. It's really hard to beat, California Rolls. With the orange or red small caviar inside.. And one must not forget copious amounts of, WASABI.. That's the best part! Do not tell the DEA about WASABI! They will water it down. That will destroy the Sushi Industry in the USA. So do not tell the DEA what it is! Tell them it's Horseradish. They won't know the difference. But we would. Sushi is Serious Business! When you are Dry Camping. RemyRAD
I guess you didn't see where the Deltas can run our 20 year old air conditioner. We did get some inland 100 degree weather on the first trip and it was so nice to cool down the camper when we got to our destination. The next upgrade will be a modern more energy efficient AC. Currently, we can't run, say the TV or the microwave while the AC is in use, but that upgrade will improve that part since the old system is a power hog when the pump starts. The camper is built around propane for cooking, water heating, furnace and the refrigerator. The refrigerator is also 20 years old and propane/120v only. We will be upgrading it to a 12v later as well, but for now, another advantage of the battery bank is that I can run the refrigerator on 120v going down the road with the truck recharging the battery bank. This does relieve the concern of the frige either going warm turned off or running off propane while driving.
How is it running now
Still strong.
It'a all happening.
Thanks. I'm hoping to convey that there is a real option for putting a shell on a Ram with the Ramboxes. The dealer's salesman didn't know about any options, which suprised me at the time.
brilliant changes! great explanations and demostrations
Thanks for the heads up!
Did this make the underside water tight? I’m currently rebuilding a large balcony, I want it to be dry under the balcony and I’m researching products. I was going to go with a system called Duxxbak but they haven’t responded to requests for a quote. Having seen this I’m thinking of going in this direction.
The manufacturer offers a profile that can interlock for a dry space underneath. I did not install this profile type. It is mostly dry underneath in light rains, but it will drip with long and / or hard rains. The responsiveness is why I went with the manufacturer used.
This video is ok, But if you want to show how well your EV does why did you show only the passengers 90% of the time instead of the direction the EV is going? Make another video...Other than that your narration was good.
I did upgrade some of my video equipment to capture more video from better angles. Hopefully, it will show in upcoming videos.
Bypass the battery directly to the motor
Figured out the battery. It was a faulty BMS. Still need to make the time fixing the chain connection.
BMS is a sleep
Did you ever finish it
Not yet. It's top of my project list for this winter.
Ok thanks
Also wondering about this. We are starting a conversion for an atv with same motor.
Any tips? We are going to attach the motor to the swing arm close to the back Axel and use thw chain and sprocket provided with the kit. Seems such a tiny motor, hope this works out but would love to hear your latest ideas. Cheers!
@@CynthiaSalchi I've seen many done like that it should be pretty easy and just work because since your attaching the motor to the swing arm the chain is not going to get loose as the suspension compressions the hardest part would be the battery
Would you buy it again?
Yes. Though rumors are that Tracker plans to start selling these with lithium batteries in the future. If I was planning on buying today, I would research when and possibly hold out for that. I will go lithium when the original batteries stop working.
Don't play the music while showing the video. I can't hear how quite it runs.
Nothing to hear really. The loudest thing is the tires on the ground and road. Wish my neighbor's UTVs were as quiet.
clamp on bucket forks (3 or 4 hundred) work well if you don't have quick attach on the front
I do have a set of clamp on forks. They work great form some loads. But my bucket has less lifting capacity than the 3-point hitch. Plus, there are times I do push the limits and load up both.
Can you do serious off roading with it too I’m very interested in one but I need to know it’s capability’s to help to make a decision on what utv to buy
I have taken this through some pretty serious off-road trails. It's not as capable as a Can-Am or Polaris Razor but it has good ground clearance and serious 4WD. It can fall short on extremely steep terrain with loose soil. But that is on trails it's hard just to walk up.
And can you solar charge it I plan on taking it to a muddy motorsports park I want it to have good range so I can ride all day without have to wait long hours for it to charge
This has a bank of 6 lead acid batteries so solar charging would take a big array and still need a few hours for charging.
Are these good for play and work and can you play in the mud with them
I can't say I've taken the EV in serious mud. The Wyoming muddy creek crossing was the most muddy I've pushed it in.
15kw
nice.
Hey i use my EV to hog hunt at night time. I was traveling a black top road one night and a friend behind me said it looked like my rear tires was gong in and out when giving it power. Also i noticed it wouldn't stay straight on the road and was all over the road. At that point i pulled over and noticed the same issue you were having which i had already lost one bolt on one side and another was almost all the way backed out and the other loose. I took to dealership for warranty and they fixed it for me. Also during my time of having my machine which is around two years now I've had to replace the 72V Converter. My 12 volt accessories wouldn't work after some troubleshooting i was able to get one from my local EZGO dealer for around $188 that was plug n play where as Tracker wanted almost $400 for the same part. Thanks for sharing the videos, now i need to see about the brakes.
Wow, glad you got it fixed. I haven't had the bolts lossen since. Good tip on the converter. Thanks.
My charger gave up the ghost last week. I bought a unit that will charge all voltages between 12 an 72 volts and all types, including lead acid, AGM, and lithium batteries. So far, that charger is doing great. I did adapt the cart plug from the dead charger, so the new unit is as easy to use as the original. This charger should be good for a lithium battery upgrade in the future.
I just purchased mine today. Does he still have it?
Yep. Still looks good. The rear window had to be replaced under warranty when it broke up in extended minus degree weather in Wyoming. But that was the only issue.
@@wellsdesignedI like and dislike mine lol. The side panels keep opening up from the top. The j hook doesn’t hook up right I tried so many times to fix it and still opens
Great video! Do you th8nk they will switch to lithium in the future? I M strongly considering one of these for our 60 acre area of farm nlin ne ohiom
Tracker has a 2 seat UTV now that is 48 volt with lithium batteries. But it looks like it is 2WD. I need 4WD to get up my steep property.
Hi, thanks for the videos. I have a Tracker EViS, which I presently have in the shop for a second time, apparently for an electrical diode, or directional switch. Whatever it is, seems to have to do with the unit becoming wet from rain.. and honestly, not that much rain, and the wet conditions it produces when driving during or after a rain. Have you had any problems with yours stopping running? Specifically with regard to exposure to water? Any info is appreciated.
The directional switch is one of my least favorite things about the Tracker EV. I have not had a full failure of the unit yet, but it does fail to make the change in direction on the fly too often. So far, turning to off or neutral and then to the direction I want to go resets and I can move on, but it's doing it more often and I fear that repair is in my future. I also don't like the placement of the switch. I wish direction change could be made from a steering column location.
Where did you buy the panels?
I bought them direct from lastdeck.com/ They were the most responsive to a homeowner.
Thank you for the very informative video.
Thanks for watching.
Hello from the Santa Cruz Mountains! Going though the planning process right now to replace my 30 year old redwood deck. Fire is #1 concern and was vacillating between a PVC Class A decking material or aluminum. I also plan on fully enclosing the deck with wire screen that really should mitigate blown embers and theoretically could be fine with a Class B product like Redwood again. However I want this to last another 30 years and be minimal maintenance so thank you for sharing your experience! I too wish my dad were still around to help out with this project. He has helped me with a number of projects and I always think of him while doing projects solo now..
I'm touched you picked up on my nod to my dad. Thanks.
