I am now a Battalion Command Sergeant Major - 421st MMB Change of Responsibility 4/4/24 (shortened)
This is a highlight clip the ceremony of my taking responsibility as the command sergeant major of the 421st Multifunctional Medical Battalion (Viper Medics) from CSM Coley on 4 April 2024. I moved from Hawaii to Baumholder, Germany for this assignment and will be in place until ~ 10 April 2026. I will upload allot less frequently after assuming responsibility, but will still be making videos once my household goods with my camera equipment arrives in July. Look forward to some hikes of the Alps while I am on leave and some more mods of my Maverick (roof rack, light, bar, ditch lights, and coilover lift).
Thank you Army VIOS team VI for recording the video.

Therefore, I found a way to fix the situation. I took my first step into the world of AI...

How to Get to my Favorite Unnamed Swimming Hole on Oahu Hawaii Wahiawa Forest Area

    The other eff’d up thing… at least when I was serving… the command “designates” a lucky soul (under the observation of the Corpsman/Medical Officer/NBC Guys) to demask. And then they all watch him. Like a canary in a coal mine. If the canary goes “belly up”… then the rest of the element can start soiling their MOPP suits and really start crying/praying to their maker.

  • @jastrapper190

    I took part in the initial invasion of Iraq in 2003 with the 1st Marine Division… and have “MOPP’ed up” for real many many times. Every time Sadam’s military launched any type of ordinance in our general direction (which they did on numerous occasions, I suspect purposefully at night when we were trying to sleep)… we had to go into the full protective posture and exist like that for many many hours at a time. Sometimes all night and into the next day. On 50/50 watch. One man sleeping and the other monitoring for signs of distress/smothering or rolling onto the canister opening (in our day we only had a single filter). What I can assume anyone reading… MOPP is an absolute nightmare. Everything about it… a nightmare. 120 degrees. Sweat filling up the mask. Not being able to breath. It’s a misery that’s hard to describe.

    I don’t mean to question the all knowing wisdom of the testers or standards… but it would seem logical to me that the hands are one of the surfaces most likely (higher statistical chance) to have come into contact with an “agent” (hands and feet). It doesn’t seem wise to potentially transfer any contamination onto the face and inside of the mask. Exposing the respiratory tract and eyes in the process. Unless you suspect that your face has been exposed to a substance/there is an indication that it’s warranted. But what do I know…

    Question: our Corpsman were once issued MOLLE vests that were “different” than everyone else’s. These vests had huge padded shoulder straps. Shoulder straps that were extra extra wide in comparison to the standard LBV (load bearing vest). I was told this design for Corpsman/Medics was a historical tradition/carryover because as part of their function/jobs… they would be bearing litters more often than everyone else. So the huge shoulder straps were designed to somehow “attach” onto the handles or frame of a standard litter. So they could support the load of the litter instead of just using their hands. Not sure how this actually worked. In WWII they used to issue actual “litter straps” designed to attach into their webbing equipment. Is this still taught to medics/Corpsman? If so… how is it done?

  • @jastrapper190
    @jastrapper190 19 дней назад

    We got our fills from a CYZ-10 or Crazy 10. Which was the device that filled the radio with its encryption. It was a Top Secret device the commo guys would have shackled or dummy corded to their person. Like a Corpsman being issued narcotics but much much more important (or career destroying if you ever lost it). A few times in combat… there would be a loss of one of these devices (or potential loss or unaccountability) and entire Divisions… tens of thousands of men, thousands of radios… whatever time of day or night… everyone would need to get up and immediately go through the entire process to change the encryption and refill the radios and get new radio checks. Massive PITA

  • @jastrapper190
    @jastrapper190 19 дней назад

    I wish we had radio’s that size. When I was serving we had the PRC-119 which was twice as big. Same gigantic square batteries however. Fun fact… we used to take CD players and cut an AC or DC power cord compatible with the device and shove the exposed wires into those radio batteries. You could use the device for days. Every now and then you would “transmit” out on some net with the music playing. Lol. It’s a bad day when you transmit AC/DC out onto the Divisional Net… seeing as “wiring” in music into the radios/vehicles intercom was against the rules in the first place.

    From what I read, the rear speakers upgrade is not worth it. The front speaker has the most ROI. The tweeters are close second. Both of which are easier to replace than the rear speakers.

  • @SpeakerBuilder
    @SpeakerBuilder 3 месяца назад

    WARNING: Upgrading the speakers in your Ford Maverick will NOT produce a good sounding system. I have been building high fidelity music systems for many decades, and I well understand that not all music reproduction components are equal. I replaced the moderate quality speakers in my Maverick with very high quality ones from Focal, arguably one of the finest speaker manufacturers out there (my top line home system uses Focal drivers purchased back in the day when they were making drivers for home high fi). The results were exceedingly disappointing. The reason is that the factory component driving the speakers is exceptionally poor. I had the same problem with my '17 Ford Focus, and in that case built a set of two way active speakers that I placed in the back seat and I drive those with a portable music player, and this setup yields a decent sounding system, with again the greatest limitation to that system being the music player (a cheap Chinese unit that works OK). I suspect the $350 Sony player will sound really good, but I just wasn't ready to spend that much money on a player. My future project for the Maverick involves building a 6.5" two way active system, using SB Acoustics ceramic coated bass/mid drivers and metal dome tweeters, with the MOSFET four channel amp and electronic crossover mounted behind the back seat, and the custom built speaker boxes setting above the seat cushion either side of the cab, in front of the existing speakers, with posts that allow them to sit on top of the back seat in place of the head rests. These will be driven by the Sony player. I have not seen a replacement radio available for the Maverick.

      Maybe if you need your vehicle to sound like you are sitting in a perfectly designed acoustic hall. But for 99% of people, upgrading the speakers over the dreadful stock ones makes the truck system sound 10x (at minimum) better.

    • @SpeakerBuilder
      @SpeakerBuilder 3 месяца назад

      My comment is not intended to encourage others to seek perfection, but rather to be sure we all understand as was stated clearly by a professional on another website that the factory system is not producing a "flat" response, but rather one that has been shaped to please a buyer who cares nothing about the quality of the sound. I knew my new speakers didn't help much in either of my vehicles, and now I understand why. Some of us are really looking for high quality (not perfect) sound from our systems, and with modern vehicles, we will need to either replace or completely bypass our factory system. All of matter of clear information for all viewers, not just for you. There are other people out in the world, you know.

    Howdy. I have limited knowledge on this so I had some questions: When there is a wound on a limb (or in this case the upper/inner groin) shouldn't you immediately apply pressure? Maybe with your knee, and then start working? Or does that pressure not matter as much anymore? I was working on a gun shot (IRL) in a similar region. I immediately applied pressure, tourniquet, gauze, monitored. He was shot a few other times (hand, elbow, upper shoulder), but was not life threatening. I was also wondering what considerations for someone with a pacemaker. I had a guy shot several times with a pacemaker. Don't they just keep pumping blood? Thankfully they all lived, but I'd like to improve regardless. Thanks

      Hey there, Corpman here, so I’m going to assume u are a civilian emt or paramedic( if not my apologies), but as far as my training every scenario is based around a combat situation ie movement from fire and exfil of a combat casualty. With that being said I’ll answer your questions based on what I know Applying pressure to the femoral via the knee can work but is not combat effective as this makes you a larger target for enemy fire, on the more medical side of things, pressure to the groin may further injury, if said patient has pelvic instability. This in turn can lead to possible bone fragments further severing the femoral creating a bigger bleed For this we use an item called a functional tourniquet which is specially designed to quell massive hemorrhage in the axillary spaces,

      @@MikeTastic-pc2ku sounds good. I had a scenario with a GSW to the femoral. Applied tq, packed it, and he lived. I later find out he has a pace maker. I've been bothering medical professionals about the effect the pace maker has. Is it a negative or positive for that type of bleed? I know our body reacts in certain ways but a pace maker seems like it will do it's job and keep the left and right lateral limit of your heart rate no matter what your body "wants" to do. What do you think?

    • @jastrapper190
      @jastrapper190 20 дней назад

      @@O8WRx I’m not a Corpsman/medical professional. Just thought the video and conversation was interesting. I’m not sure what you’re asking. If you’re living… your heart is going to keep trying to do its job. If I’m not mistaken… if you are suffering from massive hemorrhage… your heart will be beating much faster than normal in order to try to oxygenate your organs/keep you alive utilizing the remaining blood it has available. A pacemaker is usually used to “speed up” a slow heart and keep it steady. I do not think (but don’t know) that a pacemaker will “slow down” a heart that is beating too fast (due to exercise or low blood pressure because you have lost pressure in the system due to multiple holes/leaks). So a pacemaker isn’t going to make massive hemorrhage “better” or “worse”. The pacemaker might keep “helping” the heart to continue to beat if it starts to falter.. but I suspect that at that point… the body is nearing death. The heart can try to beat all it wants but if there is no blood to push… no oxygen to move… waste products to expel… organ failure results where the heart muscle, brain, all other vital organs cease.
